To these evils we must add the contests between political parties, many of which struggles do not originate in a real difference of opinion concerning the public good or in a laudable and disinterested search for what would best promote the common welfare, but in the desire for power and for the protection of some private interest which inevitably result in injury to the citizens as a whole. From this course there often arise robberies of what belongs rightly to the people, and even conspiracies against and attacks on the supreme authority of the state, as well as on its representatives. (Pope Pius XI, Ubi Arcano Dei Consilio, December 23, 1922.)

Pope Pius XI knew of the fact that the civil state of Modernity, controlled by professional career politicians and staffed by bureaucrats intent on creating a "new world order" of social engineering, starting with destabilization and destruction of the family, was robbing the people of their private property, namely, the money they earned to provided for their own necessities, in order to line the pockets of the politicians and bureaucrats. The civil state is not the instrument of providing charity, which begins in the home as the extended family cares for those in need in accordance with the Natural Law principle of subsidiarity. Those unable to be cared for by the family are to be given charity by the institutions of mercy created by Holy Mother Church.

The contemporary civil state has enslaved citizens to the dictates of omniscient caesars and their minions who want to control every aspect of citizens' lives and confiscating as much money as possible to finance their schemes of one unmitigated evil after another. Lie after lie is told as theft after theft of what belongs rightly to the people.

This calls to mind the following passage from Pope Leo XIII's Tametsi Futura Prospicientibus, November 1, 1900:

Once the idea of the authority of God as the Judge of right and wrong is forgotten, law must necessarily lose its primary authority and justice must perish: and these are the two most powerful and most necessary bonds of society. Similarly, once the hope and expectation of eternal happiness is taken away, temporal goods will be greedily sought after. Every man will strive to secure the largest share for himself. Hence arise envy, jealousy, hatred. The consequences are conspiracy, anarchy, nihilism. There is neither peace abroad nor security at home. Public life is stained with crime. (Pope Leo XIII, Tametsi Futura Prospicientibus, November 1, 1900.)

Public life is indeed stained with crime.

What does that mean to Jorge Mario Bergoglio?

Nothing at all.

Yes, you see, he is concerned about unrepentant sinners who "rob" from the state and thus "rob" from the "poor" in the meantime:

The difference is that one who sins and repents, asks forgiveness, recognizes his weakness, feels like a child of God, humbles himself and asks Jesus for salvation,” he said.

“But what is scandalous about the other?” the pope asked. “That he doesn’t repent. He continues to sin but pretends to be Christian, (he leads) a double life.”

The pope then assumed the voice of such a person, whom he imagined protesting: “‘But I am a benefactor of the church. I put my hand in my pocket and give to the church.’

“But with the other hand, he robs, from the state, from the poor,” Pope Francis said. “He is an unjust man. This is a double life.

“And this merits — Jesus says so, not I — that they put a millstone around his neck and throw him into the sea,” the pope said. “(Jesus) doesn’t talk about forgiveness here.” (‘Putrid’ hypocrisy worse than mere sin, pope says.)

Jorge Mario Bergoglio believes that the "hypocrites" are those who "rob from the state."

Even Karol Wojtyla/John Paul II, who was no friend of the Social Reign of Christ the King in the slightest, criticized what he called the "Social Assistance State:"

In recent years the range of such intervention has vastly expanded, to the point of creating a new type of State, the so-called "Welfare State". This has happened in some countries in order to respond better to many needs and demands, by remedying forms of poverty and deprivation unworthy of the human person. However, excesses and abuses, especially in recent years, have provoked very harsh criticisms of the Welfare State, dubbed the "Social Assistance State". Malfunctions and defects in the Social Assistance State are the result of an inadequate understanding of the tasks proper to the State. Here again the principle of subsidiarity must be respected: a community of a higher order should not interfere in the internal life of a community of a lower order, depriving the latter of its functions, but rather should support it in case of need and help to coordinate its activity with the activities of the rest of society, always with a view to the common good.

By intervening directly and depriving society of its responsibility, the Social Assistance State leads to a loss of human energies and an inordinate increase of public agencies, which are dominated more by bureaucratic ways of thinking than by concern for serving their clients, and which are accompanied by an enormous increase in spending. In fact, it would appear that needs are best understood and satisfied by people who are closest to them and who act as neighbours to those in need. It should be added that certain kinds of demands often call for a response which is not simply material but which is capable of perceiving the deeper human need. One thinks of the condition of refugees, immigrants, the elderly, the sick, and all those in circumstances which call for assistance, such as drug abusers: all these people can be helped effectively only by those who offer them genuine fraternal support, in addition to the necessary care.

49. Faithful to the mission received from Christ her Founder, the Church has always been present and active among the needy, offering them material assistance in ways that neither humiliate nor reduce them to mere objects of assistance, but which help them to escape their precarious situation by promoting their dignity as persons. With heartfelt gratitude to God it must be pointed out that active charity has never ceased to be practised in the Church; indeed, today it is showing a manifold and gratifying increase. In this regard, special mention must be made of volunteer work, which the Church favours and promotes by urging everyone to cooperate in supporting and encouraging its undertakings. (Karol Wojtyla/John Paul II, Centisimus Annus, May 1, 1991.)

Although the soon-to-be "canonized" Wojtyla/John Paul II's prescription for a just economic order was premised upon the conciliarspeak of "solidarity" and his own form of "social action" that was quite contrary to the spirit of Pope Leo XIII's Rerum Novarum, May 15, 1891, and Pope Pius XI's Quadragesimo Anno, May 15, 1931, the preceding passages from Centisimus Annus stand in great contrast to Jorge Mario Bergoglio's love affair with the monster civil state of Modernity and his earnest desire to make sure that the people do not "rob" from the state as to do so "robs the poor" as well.

It does not matter at all to Jorge Mario Bergoglio that civil leaders such as Barack Hussein Obama/Barry Soetoro and Dilma Rousseff and Christine Kirchner and Evo Morales and Jose Alberto Mujica Cordano, among so many others, support the chemical and surgical execution of the innocent preborn in their mothers' wombs and legal protection, including "marriage," for those who are engaged in unrepentant sins of perversity against the binding precepts of the Sixth and Ninth Commandments. No, these merchants of temporal and spiritual death are concerned about the "poor," and that is all that matters to Jorge Mario Bergoglio and his own minions in the counterfeit church of conciliarism.

As noted in yesterday's commentary, Meet Some Catholics Truly Worth Admiring, part two, the conciliar nuncio to the United States of America, "Archbishop" Carlo Vignano, related Bergoglio's program for "compassion" and "inclusion" and "service to the poor" yesterday when he addressed the meeting of the so-called United States Conference of "Catholic Bishops"  means of ending "hostilities" between the "bishops," who elected "Archbishop" Joseph Kurtz of Louisville, Kentucky, to succeed Timothy Michael Dolan (see Ominous Offenders Offending Ominously, Memo To David Axelrod And Other Social Engineers, John Carroll's Caesar, Victims of Compromise, Taking A Figure Of Antichrist At His Worthless Words, Prisoners Of Their Own Apostasy, Timothy Dolan, Meet Timothy Dolan (And Friends), Still Celebrating Half A Century Of Apostasy, Candidate For Man Of The Year?, From John Carroll To James Gibbons To Timothy Dolan, To Help The Children and Fake, Phony, Sanctimonious Fraud, noting also Happy As A Stuffed Clam With Himself, Impossible To Fight Moral Evils With Blasphemy And Error, Timmy's In The Well (Of Americanism, That Is), Making Everyone Happy Except God, Unhappy Is The "Happy" "Bishop", Whatever You Want, "You're Not Supposed To Do This", Francis And Other Judases Abound In Holy Week, Auditioning To Be The Next Universal Face of Apostasy, among many, many others) as the president of this nefarious body, and the administration of President Barack Hussein Obama/Barry Soetoro:

The Holy Father wants bishops in tune with their people. When this past June I met with him in his simple apartment at the Casa Santa Marta for a fruitful discussion, he made a special point of saying that he wants 'pastoral' bishops, not bishops who profess or follow a particular ideology. (Address of Carlo Maria Viganò, Conciliar Nuncio to the United States.)

So much for Pope Leo XIII's injunction found in Sapientiae Christianae, January 10, 1890:

But in this same matter, touching Christian faith, there are other duties whose exact and religious observance, necessary at all times in the interests of eternal salvation, become more especially so in these our days. Amid such reckless and widespread folly of opinion, it is, as We have said, the office of the Church to undertake the defense of truth and uproot errors from the mind, and this charge has to be at all times sacredly observed by her, seeing that the honor of God and the salvation of men are confided to her keeping. But, when necessity compels, not those only who are invested with power of rule are bound to safeguard the integrity of faith, but, as St. Thomas maintains: "Each one is under obligation to show forth his faith, either to instruct and encourage others of the faithful, or to repel the attacks of unbelievers.'' To recoil before an enemy, or to keep silence when from all sides such clamors are raised against truth, is the part of a man either devoid of character or who entertains doubt as to the truth of what he professes to believe. In both cases such mode of behaving is base and is insulting to God, and both are incompatible with the salvation of mankind. This kind of conduct is profitable only to the enemies of the faith, for nothing emboldens the wicked so greatly as the lack of courage on the part of the good. Moreover, want of vigor on the part of Christians is so much the more blameworthy, as not seldom little would be needed on their part to bring to naught false charges and refute erroneous opinions, and by always exerting themselves more strenuously they might reckon upon being successful. After all, no one can be prevented from putting forth that strength of soul which is the characteristic of true Christians, and very frequently by such display of courage our enemies lose heart and their designs are thwarted. Christians are, moreover, born for combat, whereof the greater the vehemence, the more assured, God aiding, the triumph: "Have confidence; I have overcome the world." Nor is there any ground for alleging that Jesus Christ, the Guardian and Champion of the Church, needs not in any manner the help of men. Power certainly is not wanting to Him, but in His loving kindness He would assign to us a share in obtaining and applying the fruits of salvation procured through His grace.

The chief elements of this duty consist in professing openly and unflinchingly the Catholic doctrine, and in propagating it to the utmost of our power. For, as is often said, with the greatest truth, there is nothing so hurtful to Christian wisdom as that it should not be known, since it possesses, when loyally received, inherent power to drive away error. (Pope Leo XIII, Sapientiae Christianae, January 10, 1890.)

Just a particular ideology?

Well, it is for Jorge Mario Bergoglio, who has given his "marching orders" to men such as Carlo Vignano to get the conciliar "bishops" in line with the "changed circumstances" of a "new way" for a "new time" that is replete with its "new doctrine," "new liturgy" and "new pastoral practices."

Vignano was, however, just expressing a "professional courtesy," if you will, from the figure of Antichrist holed up in the Casa Santa Marta in the territory of the Occupied Vatican on the West Bank of the Tiber River for the figure of Antichrist now holed  up in the White House as his popular approval as measured by public opinion polls has dropped to an all-time low as the gigantic Ponzi Scheme known as ObamaCare becomes exposed for what it was meant to be from its outset as the latest manifestation of HillaryCare that has proven to be so unpopular that even the future First Husband, William Jefferson Blythe Clinton, is taking his fellow professional liar, Obama/Soetoro, to the woodshed over the latter's broken promises.

Bergoglio's "professional courtesy" for the likes of a true ideologue, Barack Hussein Obama/Barry Soetoro, means that the Fortnight of Fraud that the conciliar "bishops" in the United States of America waged against ObamaCare's baby-killing insurance coverage mandate by invoking the very heresy that made the election of our current caesar inevitable in the first place, "religious liberty," is over, well, at least for all intents and purposes. Jorge Mario Bergoglio has changed the landscape of what passes for "Catholic" discourse in the world by denouncing "moralists" and calling those who are "obsessed" with "abortion" and "gay marriage" as champions of a "particular ideology."

How is this not from the devil?

How is this not the work of a figure of Antichrist?

The conciliar "bishop" of Spokane, Washington, Blase Cupich, made it pretty clear the "fight," such as it pretended to be, against ObamaCare is over as he spoke after the election of Joseph Kurtz and Daniel "Cardinal" DiNardo, the conciliar "archbishop" of Galveston-Houston, yesterday, Tuesday, November 12, 2013, the Feast of Pope Saint Martin I:

Archbishop Blase J. Cupich of Spokane, Wash., said in an interview after the vote on Tuesday: “The nuncio said the Holy Father wants bishops to have a keen pastoral sensitivity, shepherds who know the smell of the sheep. That’s a nice metaphor to use.

“Pope Francis doesn’t want cultural warriors, he doesn’t want ideologues,” he said. “That’s the new paradigm for us, and it’s making many of us think.” (Bishops Select Two Leaders Who Reflect New Tone Set by Argentine Apostate.)

Yes, Carlo Vignano says that Jorge Mario Bergoglio wants the "bishops" to be "in tune with the people," which the conciliar "bishops" of the United States of America have interpreted correctly as meaning that they are not to confront the civil authorities at a time when ObamaCare itself en toto is under public siege.

As is the case with every revolutionary, Bergoglio's invocation of "the people" to justify his false beliefs and actions is just a slogan designed to flatter those he knows have been waiting for a "leader" just like him to reaffirm them in their "life's choices."

Guess what such " people" want to do?

Well, most of them want to keep on singing, and Bergoglio has no problem with this as long as they serve the "poor" and are felt as "included" in his false church.

Bergoglio has gone out of his way at the Casa Santa Marta to use various code words (see Francis The Slayer of Straw Men) to denounce those who hold to the immutable truths of the Catholic Faith as he has conducted his daily sessions of the Ding Dong School Of Apostasy for the past eight months now (it is eight months ago today that this apostate emerged on the balcony of the Basilica of Saint Peter). At the same time, of course, Bergoglio has gone out of his way to express his great concern for those share his own contempt for the truths contained in the Sacred Deposit of Faith, especially for those who are engaged in perverse sins against nature.

Here is yet another example, provided by the sodomite activist "New Ways Ministry" organization that was in some degree of de jure disfavor during the reigns of Wojtyla/John Paul II and Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI while maintaining great support on a de facto basis at the diocesan level, of Bergoglio's "outreach" to those who have been enabled the caesars of Modernity and by many of the conciliar "bishops" prior to his "election" on March 13, 2013:

Pen and paper. Among the many revolutions made by Pope Bergoglio, in addition to phone calls home to ordinary people ... there is also the "post effect," the mountain of letters delivered every day at his residence in Santa Marta, and sent directly to him. ...

Some people think it may have been one of these "messages in a bottle" that inspired the breakthrough of Bergoglio about gays. A letter sent in June to the pope by various Italian gay Catholics ... where gays and lesbians asked Francis to be recognized as people and not as a "category" and called for openness and dialogue on the part of the Church, recalling that the closure "always feeds homophobia."

Further information comes from America magazine, which only weeks ago carried a groundbreaking interview with Francis where his remarks on homosexuality were positive and welcoming. That publication reports on the Italian group, Kairos of Florence:

"A leader of the impromptu committee said as gay Catholics they had in the past written to other members of the church leadership in Italy and had always before been rewarded with silence. …

The Kairos group said they also received a letter from the Vatican Secretariat of State, which informed them that Pope Francis "really enjoyed" their letter to him and the way it was written, calling it an act of "spontaneous confidence."

One Kairos leader said Pope Francis had also assured the group of his blessing, something they could not before have imagined happening. The members of Kairos have decided to keep the rest of the message of both letters private.

When New Ways Ministry led a pilgrimage to Italy in 2011, the Kairos group met with our American travelers to share stories and perspectives. Francis DeBernardo, our executive director, is contacting them currently to learn more about this papal letter.

While the contents of the pope's letter remain private, truly as if between a pastor and the people he serves, there are broader lessons for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and ally Catholic community in this experience.

First, the wisdom that relational encounters with people are the most effective form of advocacy is relevant even for the pope. If La Repubblica's conjecture is correct that the personal letter from Kairos of Florence led to Francis' "Who am I to judge?" and other comments that have greatly shifted the church's tone on LGBT issues, then everyone should be writing letters to Rome. New Ways Ministry wrote a letter to Francis, telling him about the goodness and holiness of Catholic LGBT people and pastoral outreach to them here in the U.S. Would you consider writing your own thoughts to him?

Second, if reaching out to the pope is effective, perhaps it is time for Catholics to reach out to their local church leaders, namely priests and bishops. Sharing personal stories to replace philosophical constructs with human faces and relationships might lead to further conversions.

Francis' pen-and-paper revolution is truly radical, and transforms hierarchy into personal relationships. It offers each of us a moment to speak to the pope and bishops as if they are our own parish priests. As the gay and lesbian Catholics of Florence did with their experiences, this is an opportunity to offer our joys and hopes, griefs and anxieties about those matters closest to us. Putting pen to paper is a simple act, but allows each of us to join Francis in answering God's call to rebuild the church. If you write to Francis or local church leaders, please let us know. (Francis' letter-writing revolution requires our involvement.)

This is why Mrs. Randy Engel's open letter to Francis provides those who want to read through its graphic content with important factual material concerning the physically disgusting nature of perversity and Bergoglio's own familiarity with some of the most technical terms used by the Homosexual Collective.

Is the use of such terms merely a matter of "pastoral concern?"

When has a true Successor of the Apostles, no less one who claims to be a true Successor of Saint Peter, spoken for public consumption in the terms that Mrs. Engel documents Bergoglio did to Vaticanologist Andrea Tornielli in February of 2012 as reported in Vatican Insider?.

Never.

Indeed, our true popes condemned heresy and error.

Our true popes condemned the actions of civil officials when the good of souls demanded them to do so.

Those who hold the reins of government should not forget that it is the duty of public authority by appropriate laws and sanctions to defend the lives of the innocent, and this all the more so since those whose lives are endangered and assailed cannot defend themselves. Among whom we must mention in the first place infants hidden in the mother's womb. And if the public magistrates not only do not defend them, but by their laws and ordinances betray them to death at the hands of doctors or of others, let them remember that God is the Judge and Avenger of innocent blood which cried from earth to Heaven. (Pope Pius XI, Casti Connubii, December 30, 1930.)

The same Pope Pius XI, quoting from Silvio Cardinal Antoniano, the Latin secretary to Saint Charles Borromeo during the Catholic Counter Reformation, reminded us something that Jorge Mario Bergoglio and friends reject, namely, that it is impossible to produce peace and justice temporally when one is advancing that which is opposed to the peace and happiness of eternity:

The more closely the temporal power of a nation aligns itself with the spiritual, and the more it fosters and promotes the latter, by so much the more it contributes to the conservation of the commonwealth. For it is the aim of the ecclesiastical authority by the use of spiritual means, to form good Christians in accordance with its own particular end and object; and in doing this it helps at the same time to form good citizens, and prepares them to meet their obligations as members of a civil society. This follows of necessity because in the City of God, the Holy Roman Catholic Church, a good citizen and an upright man are absolutely one and the same thing. How grave therefore is the error of those who separate things so closely united, and who think that they can produce good citizens by ways and methods other than those which make for the formation of good Christians. For, let human prudence say what it likes and reason as it pleases, it is impossible to produce true temporal peace and tranquillity by things repugnant or opposed to the peace and happiness of eternity. (Silvio Cardinal Antoniano, quoted by Pope Pius XI in Divini Illius Magistri, December 31, 1929.)

Jorge Mario Bergoglio does not believe this as he extends his "professional courtesy" to the merchants of death in the anti-Incarnational civil state of Modernity.

Jorge Mario Bergoglio rejects out of hand the plain statement of Catholic contained the following words of Pope Saint Pius X in Notre Charge Apostolique, August 15, 1910:

Here we have, founded by Catholics, an inter-denominational association that is to work for the reform of civilization, an undertaking which is above all religious in character; for there is no true civilization without a moral civilization, and no true moral civilization without the true religion: it is a proven truth, a historical fact. (Pope Saint Pius X, Notre Charge Apostolique, August 15, 1910.)

Jorge Mario Bergoglio is committed to the "new way" of conciliarism, which why his "Petrine Ministry" could be called quite correctly as "New Ways Ministry" in and of itself as he promotes what could be called his own form of "Positive Christianity" that make the words below, written by Father Ingbert Naab to Adolf Hitler on March 20, 1932, as applicable to him as the promoter of conciliar socialism as to the promoter of national socialism himself:

I do not remonstrate on the political aspects, I leave that to those called to such things. I am appealing solely to your conscience. What do you say to the lie-propaganda? You had to have your attention drawn to the fact that your party promises all things to all men, even the most contradictory things. And why? What else but the lust for power. Do you think that the Almighty will suspend the Eighth Commandment for your sake? "Lying lips are an abomination before the Lord: [Prov. 12:22] in the service of politics, too! And "lies are shortlived," even when spoken by eloquent men. Why don't you come into the open? Isn't your reticence about religious questions one great deception of the masses? Surely you yourself can only laugh about your program for a "Creed of Positive Christianity," otherwise you would not have a Rosenberg at your side. Doesn't your behavior in the question of religion strike even you as an international deception? How much longer do you intend to continue with it?

What do you say to the propaganda of hate? Your principal paper, Der Volkische Beobachter, published in this week's Wednesday edition (Nr. 76, p. 3) an article by Gunter d'Alquen: "The fight goes on." It stated: "To our love that give sense to our labors, we now add hate, hate for all that is against us. . .Our best troops are now thrown to the fore. We are going over to the offensive, there will be no prisoners taken, no further pardon given. We will advance; the tiniest shell-hole, the smallest shred of trench, all will be wiped clean, shattered, burnt out. We will pounce upon the enemy day and night, come rain or shine, we smite him wheresoever we meet him." This is the language of the insane. And "Positive Christianity"? A gospel of hate? Mr. Hitler, what does your conscience say? (As found in Adalbert Albert Vogl, Therese Neumann: Mystic and Stigmatist, published originally as The Life and Death of Therese Neumann by Vantage Press in 1978 and republished by TAN Books and Publishers in 1987, pp. 163-172.)

Remember these words of Pope Pius XI, contained in his first encyclical letter, Ubi Arcano Dei Consilio, December 23, 1922, and remember them well:

To these evils we must add the contests between political parties, many of which struggles do not originate in a real difference of opinion concerning the public good or in a laudable and disinterested search for what would best promote the common welfare, but in the desire for power and for the protection of some private interest which inevitably result in injury to the citizens as a whole. From this course there often arise robberies of what belongs rightly to the people, and even conspiracies against and attacks on the supreme authority of the state, as well as on its representatives. These political struggles also beget threats of popular action and, at times, eventuate in open rebellion and other disorders which are all the more deplorable and harmful since they come from a public to whom it has been given, in our modern democratic states, to participate in very large measure in public life and in the affairs of the government. Now, these different forms of government are not of themselves contrary to the principles of the Catholic Faith, which can easily be reconciled with any reasonable and just system of government. Such governments, however, are the most exposed to the danger of being overthrown by one faction or another. (Pope Pius XI, Ubi Arcano Dei Consilio, December 23, 1922.)

Jorge Mario Bergoglio wants make sure that the civil state keeps robbing from us so that the "poor" can be assisted with programs that enslave all citizens more and more and foment one evil after another, making such evil more institutionalized and accepted than ever before. No one, including Bergoglio, can assuage his conscience by saying he is "for the poor" while encouraging silence on the moral evils of the day, which is nothing other than the work of Antichrist himself.

Then again, Jorge Mario Bergoglio is simply the torch-bearer of the conciliar revolution begun on October 28, 1958, that has resulted in a genocide of souls far, far surpassing the crimes of frankly totalitarian states such as Nazi Germany and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and all other Marxist regimes.

As readers of this site know, it is impossible to pursue temporal justice while protecting heinous sins under cover of the civil law, crimes that are also promoted in every aspect of popular culture.

Sin is what caused Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to suffer once in time in His Sacred Humanity during His Passion and Death. Sin is what caused His Most Blessed Mother's Immaculate Heart to be pierced through and through with Seven Swords of Sorrow.

Sin is what wounds His Mystical Body, the Church Militant, here on earth in this passing, mortal value of tears.

No one who is an agent in the promotion of grievous sin, no less sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance, is a fit holder of the public weal.

While such a person is an object of our prayers and while his actions must prompt us to make much reparation to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, he is not deserving of anyone's "support" or "approval."

We must nevertheless continue to fulfill Our Lady's Fatima Message in our own lives, keeping close to her Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart as we hand out her Green Scapular to as many people as we can, being sure to pray "Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death" for each person.

Saint Louis de Montfort has given us great words of wisdom for these our times:

Predestinate souls, you who are of God, cut yourselves adrift from those who are damning themselves by their impious lives, laziness and lack of devotion--and, without delay, recite often your Rosary, with faith, with humility, with confidence and with perseverance. . . .

Dear Rosary Confraternity members, if you want to lead a fashionable life and belong to the world--by this I mean if you do not mind falling into mortal sin from time to time and then going to Confession, and if you with to avoid conspicuous sins which the world considers vile and yet at the same time commit "respectable sins"--then, of course, there is no need for you to say many prayers and Rosaries. You only need to do very little be "respectable": a tiny prayer at night and morning, an occasional Rosary which may be given to you for your penance, a few decades of Hail Marys said on your Rosary (but haphazardly and without concentration) when it suits your fancy to say them--this is quite enough. If you did less, you might be branded as a freethinker or a profligate; if you did more, you would be eccentric and a fanatic. But if you want to lead a true Christian life and genuinely want to save your soul and walk in the saints' footsteps and never, never, fall into mortal sin--if you wish to break Satan's traps and divert his flaming darts, you must always pray as Our Lord taught and commanded you to do.

If you really have this wish at heart, then you must at least say your Rosary or the equivalent, every day. I have said "at least" because probably all that you will accomplish through your Rosary will be to avoid mortal sin and to overcome temptation. This is because you are so exposed to the strong current of the world's wickedness by which many a strong soul is swept away; you are in the midst of the thick, clinging darkness which often blinds even the most enlightened souls; you are surrounded by evil spirits who being more experienced than ever and knowing that their time is short are more cunning and more effective in tempting you.

It will indeed be a marvel of grace wrought by the Most Holy Rosary if you manage to keep out of the clutches of the world, the devil and the flesh and avoid mortal sin and gain heaven! If you do not want to believe me, at least learn from your own experience. I should like to ask you, if when you were in the habit of saying no more prayers than people usually say in the world and saying them they way they usually say them, you were able to avid serious faults and sins that were grievous but which seemed nothing much to you in your blindness. Now at last you must wake up, and if you want to live and die without sin, at least mortal sin, pray unceasingly; say your Rosary every day as members always used to do in the early days of the Confraternity. . . .

Even if you suffer from dryness of soul, boredom and interior discouragement, never give up even the least little bit of your Rosary--for this would be a sure sign of pride and faithlessness. On the contrary, like a real champion of Jesus and Mary, you should say your Our Fathers and Hail Marys quite drily if you have to, without seeing, hearing or feeling any consolation whatsoever, and concentrating as best you can on the mysteries. You ought not to look for candy or jam to eat with your daily bread, as children do--but you should even say your Rosary more slowly sometimes when you particularly find it hard to say. Do this to imitate Our Lord more perfectly in His agony in the garden: "Being in agony, he prayed the longer," so that what was said of Our Lord (when He was in His agony of prayer) may be said of you too: He prayed even longer.

Pray with great confidence, with confidence based upon the goodness and infinite generosity of God and upon the promises of Jesus Christ. God is a spring of living water which flows unceasingly into the hearts of those who pray. The Eternal Father yearns for nothing so much as to share the life-giving waters of His grace and mercy with us. He is entreating us: "All you that thirst, come to the waters . . ." This means "Come and drink of My spring through prayer," and when we do not pray to Him He sorrowfully says that we are forsaking Him: "They have forsaken me, the fountain of living water." (Saint Louis de Montfort, The Secret of the Rosary;  pp. 99-101; 103)

Let us not forsake Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Let us go to Him through the very instrument His Most Blessed Mother gave to Saint Dominic, the Holy Rosary. Let us take seriously the words that Our Lady told Jacinta and Francisco Marto and Lucia dos Santos in the Cova da Iria to pray many Rosaries and to do penance for the conversion of poor sinners and to save them from Hell.

We are poor sinners in need of conversion!

We need to be saved from the fires of Hell.

We must use the spiritual weapon that Our Lord has given us through His Most Blessed Mother to defeat the enemies of our salvation at the very gates of our soul this day and every day our lives as we lift high the standard of His Most Holy Cross, which is adorned to every Rosary of His Most Blessed Mother, as we seek to spread devotion to this paramount weapon against all sin and heresy.

The world is in the state that it is because of the infidelity of men.

We must beseech Our Lady to help us remain faithful to the point of our dying breaths, especially by beseeching her through her Most Holy Rosary and by making sure that we offer our daily penances and prayers to her Divine Son's Most Sacred Heart through her own Immaculate Heart. She will help us to see the world clearly through the eyes of the true Faith as we exclaim with love the great words that bespeak of our allegiance to her Divine Son, the King of our hearts, the King of the world that is now very much in the grip of those who advance evil after evil as they give professional courtesy to each other.
