Thursday Night At The Fights
by
Thomas A. Droleskey
So many people want to stay ignorant of facts.
So many people want to stay ignorant of the past.
So many people want to believe in the absolute delusion that "things" based on false premises will be "different" at a different time with different people.
The only way in which "things" are "different" this year, 2012, as opposed to years gone by is that more and more citizens are committed to the "leftist" version of naturalism.
Those who think that there is going to be some great naturalistic "conservative" "reawakening" even if Willard Mitt Romney secures victories in enough states to amass at at least two hundred seventy electoral votes in twenty-three days from now, that is on Tuesday, November 6, 2012.
Willard Mitt Romney is not a "conservative." Even if Romney was "severely conservative," as he termed himself at the Conservative Political Action Committee meeting on Friday, February 10, 2012, this would not mean that he is a friend of "limited" or "constitutional" government. As I have demonstrated in so many articles, most recently in He's Just A Mormon, Willard Mitt Romney is just another Americanist emphasizing money, the money and the money, differing with his Communist trained false opposite of the naturalist "left" only on who should control the making and retaining of the money, the money and the money, individuals or the government redistributors.
This is what I wrote in the printed pages of Christ or Chaos on May 28, 2001, when United States Senator James Jeffords, then one of the two Republican senators from the State of Vermont, announced that he was going to leave the Republican Party and become an "independent" who voted with the Democrat Party caucus in the United States Senate, thereby giving then Senate Minority Leader Thomas Daschle, D-South Dakota, the one extra senator he needed to constitute his own band of organized criminals as a majority in the upper house of the United States Congress:
The decision by Vermont Senator James Jeffords to bolt from the Republican Party has all sent so-called "conservatives" into states of apoplexy. The reflexive apologists of President George W. Bush have really convinced themselves that the fact that their hero is president is a sign that the country accepts his agenda. It does not. Indeed, these apologists have embraced the delusional notion that the 2000 election signaled a return to the "conservatism" of the 1980s, ignoring the inconvenient little fact that the combined popular votes of former Vice President Albert Arnold Gore Jr. and Ralph Nader eclipsed the total won by Bush by more than three million votes, a clear sign that the country has not embraced any retreat from legalized baby-killing and the ever more intrusive growth of the power of the federal government.
Secular conservatives are people who are convinced that there is some purely secular and religiously indifferentist way to view the world and resolve various social problems. This belief flies in the face of Catholic social teaching, which instructs us that a society which rejects the Social Kingship of Jesus Christ and the authority of His true Church is bound to descend to the level of abject barbarism, all of which augments the power of state unfettered by any submission whatsoever to the primacy of the Divine positive law and the natural law over us men and our civil societies. Alas, the delusional folks in "conservatism land" demonstrate that they are soul mates of the ultimate relativist, Bill Clinton, trying to spin the actual state of the real world to conform to their own delusional notions that everything is going to be fine as long as we exalt the flawed nature of the American founding, avoid any discussion of "divisive" things such as denominational religion, and keep making one compromise after another in order to win the favor of "moderates" and "independents" who want to keep baby- killing legal and who want no end to the entitlements provided them by the government.
President George W. Bush himself embraces this very delusional notion. His effusive praise of the late President Lyndon Baines Johnson's Great Society demonstrates that he (or those who write the copy he reads so eagerly and so uncritically) accepts the expansion of the power of the federal government, largely engineered as a result of the various Masonic attacks on the stability of the family, as an unquestioned part of American government. There is no effort on the part of the new president even to make the case against the Great Society on the basis of the clear words of the American Constitution, which do not give the federal government the sort of power it has been exercising since the 1930s and the 1960s, no less an understanding borne of the natural law and of Catholic social teaching which stresses the principle of subsidiarity. No, the addle-brained president mouths slogans to make him appear palatable in our ethos of entitlement. He even goes so far as to praise the likes of Father Theodore Hesburgh, the former president of the University of Notre Dame, for his "contributions" to higher education, ignoring the fact that it was Hesburgh's embrace of government and anti-Catholic foundation grant monies which helped to expedite the de-Catholicization of almost every Catholic university and college in this nation.. . .
In actual point of fact, however, President George Walker Bush has been governing with a view to pleasing the pro-abortion wing of his party and the national sentiment in favor of retaining at least some form of legalized baby-killing. This is why the new administration has done nothing to reverse the Food and Drug Administration's licensing of the manufacture of RU-486 and has done nothing to stop the funding of fetal tissue research and experimentation. The new administration continues to fund the chemical abortion of babies internationally by means of so-called family planning programs. And Howard Phillips has conclusively demonstrated the sham that is the reinstatement of the Mexico City policy of denying American taxpayer funds to agencies and programs that either perform or promote abortions. These organizations have more than enough money of their own to continue killing babies, and our taxpayer dollars continue to be used for contraception and explicit classroom instruction in matters pertaining to the Sixth and Ninth Commandments.
President Bush included funding for Title X programs in his budget, meaning that so-called "family planning" programs are being promoted in this country with our tax dollars. The new administration is proving itself to be exactly what I predicted it would be throughout last year and into this: a careerist effort to maintain itself in power by giving lip service to the life issue on various occasions while continuing to institutionalize the triumph of policies of death in our law and in our culture.
The loss of Republican control of the Senate was probably inevitable. South Carolina Senator Strom Thurmond, who will turn 99 years of age this coming December, might die before his term expires at the end of next year. South Carolina's governor, a Democrat, would fill Thurmond's seat with a fellow Democrat. Thus, it might have been only a matter of time before the Democrats regained control of the United States Senate. Nevertheless, James Jeffords's defection demonstrates that the delusional hopes of secular conservatives rested not only on a fragile political coalition but upon the false premise that it is possible to pursue the common good without regard to Christ the King and the authority of His true Church, that it is possible for people who are active enemies of the sanctity of life are fit to serve in government without posing a direct threat to the common good conservatives say they want to pursue. An administration which has the likes of Andrew Card, Donald Rumsfeld (who is very homosexual-friendly), Colin Powell, Christine Todd Whitman, Tommy Thompson, Condoleeza Rice, and Alberto Gonzales is flawed of its very nature. It is impossible for pro-aborts, whether they serve in the Executive Branch or in the Congress or in the Judiciary, to promote the common good precisely because they are at war with the primacy of the Divine positive law and the natural law over us men and our civil societies.
When are we ever going to learn that secular conservatism is not the answer? When are we ever going to learn that religious indifferentism is one of the roots of our problems, not the modus operandi by which we can address difficult issues in a pluralistic nation. When are we going to take seriously the injunction given the Apostles by Our Lord before He Ascended to the Father's right hand in glory to convert the world to the true Faith? When are conservative Catholics going to stop deluding themselves about the state of things and start to recapture the wisdom of Popes Leo XIII, St. Pius X, and Pius XI about the necessity of praying and working for the Social Kingship of Jesus Christ and the Queenship of His Most Blessed Mother? The country is not with us. It will never be with us unless we are united in our efforts to serve Christ the King through His true Church and to plant the seeds for the conversion of this nation to the truth that sovereignty resides not in the people of any nation but in the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity made Man. ("The Country is Not With Us," from the printed pages of Christ or Chaos, 2001.)
What has changed in the past eleven years? Nothing.
We are eyewitnesses to yet another exercise in the Etch-A-Sketch politics practiced by naturalists of the false opposites of the naturalist "right" and the naturalist "left."
Willard Mitt Romney has lived up to the promise made by one of well-paid subordinates, Eric Fehrnstrom, seven months ago now:
Is Mitt Romney an Etch-A-Sketch candidate, one whose positions can be erased with a shake, ready for a new and different drawing?
That’s an analogy that’s getting a lot of discussion today in the Washington professional political class following a comment made by senior Romney aide Eric Fehrnstrom on CNN. Asked whether conservatives Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich had pushed Mr. Romney so far to the right that he’ll have trouble with moderates in a general election, Mr. Fehrnstrom said that wouldn’t be a problem.
“Well, I think you hit a reset button for the fall campaign. Everything changes. It’s almost like an Etch-A-Sketch. You can kind of shake it up and restart it all over again,” Fehrnstrom said.
That comment – which appears to imply that Romney can forget what he’s said and take new stands in the fall – came bouncing back to whack the Romney camp faster than a SuperBall pitched against a concrete wall. The Santorum campaign sent out an email alerting reporters to Fehrnstrom’s words, claiming they’re proof that Romney is a Massachusetts moderate.
“We all knew Mitt Romney didn’t have any core convictions, but we appreciate his staff going on national television to affirm that point for anyone who had any doubts,” said Santorum national communications director Hogan Gridley in a statement.
Gingrich piled on, adding via Twitter that “Etch-A-Sketch is a great toy but a losing strategy. We need a nominee w/bold conservative solutions.”
Democratic strategists gleefully retweeted these remarks, hoping to sow chaos in the GOP ranks, while the blogosphere resounded with Romney critics opining as to what other toys he has in his closet: My Little Phony, Gumby, a Hot Wheels Dog Carrier, and so forth.
Very funny. But will this incident hurt Romney, or simply launch a flotilla of bad jokes? We’re guessing the latter. It’ll be gone faster than you can erase a ... well, you know. Etch-A-Sketch references stop here. We promise.
Why? First of all, Romney’s had a pretty good week, in case you didn’t notice. He won the Illinois primary in a walk. Jeb Bush endorsed him, in essence saying to others in the GOP, “it’s time to end this now.”
In
other words, Romney has pretty much won. All that’s left is for
Santorum and Gingrich to realize that they’ve become zombie candidates.
Fehrnstrom’s comments won’t help rivals who have already lost. (Etch-A-Sketch: Can Mitt Romney shake off his aide's Mr. Potato Head Comment?)
True to his vapid core, though, Romney sought to distance himself from Fehrstrom's remarks almost immediately after they had been made, promising that the issues he would be discussing in the general election would be "exactly the same" as during the primary/caucus season:
Seeking to quickly move on after one of his spokesman
blotted out what should have been a banner day for his presidential
campaign, Mitt Romney promised wary conservatives that he would not
change course if he becomes the Republican nominee.
Speaking to reporters after a town hall meeting in
Arbutus, Md., Romney clarified an aide's statement that he would view
the start of the general election campaign like an Etch-A-Sketch,
suggesting that he could adjust positions he took in a primary campaign
dominated by conservatives to please a more centrist electorate in
November.
Asked whether Romney’s positions in the primary might
be too far to the right to win in November, Eric Fehrnstrom said on
CNN: “Well, I think you hit a reset button for the fall campaign.
Everything changes. It’s almost like an Etch-A-Sketch. You can kind of
shake it up and restart all over again.”
Though Fehrnstrom was specifically asked about
Romney’s political positions possibly changing, Romney portrayed the
comments as being about his organization. Should he be the nominee,
Romney said, the nature of the campaign certainly would change
"organizationally." But "the issues I'm running on will be exactly the
same."
"I'm running as a conservative Republican. I was a
conservative Republican governor. I'll be running as a conservative
Republican nominee," he said. "The policies and positions are exactly
the same."
The Romney campaign had hoped to spend the day
talking about its double-digit triumph in Illinois on Tuesday and the
endorsement of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. At a town hall meeting
outside Baltimore, Romney sought to keep his focus on President Obama,
mocking his trip out West to talk about energy prices.
But his rivals seized on the comments from Fehrnstrom, forcing Romney to respond.
A Rick Santorum campaign spokesman showed up at the
site of Romney's Maryland campaign kickoff event to hand out miniature
versions of the Etch-A-Sketch.
Fehrnstrom's analogy, Alice Stewart told reporters, "confirms what a lot
of conservatives have been afraid of. He used to be pro-abortion, he
used to be pro-gay marriage, he used to be for a Wall Street bailout,
climate change. Now he's talking a different language, but the campaign
acknowledged that if need be, if he won the primary, he'd go right back
to the middle in order to win the general." (Romney clarifies Etch-A-Sketch remarks to reporter.)
Those who read Romney's words seven months ago with care, however, would notice that the former Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts did not say that he would take the same positions on the issues he had discussed in the primary/caucus season, only that the issues themselves would be the same. We have seen him equivocate in the past four months now on ObamaCare, on the caesar's plans to ignore Federal law and permit those who entered the United States of America illegally with their parents would not be deported in order to permit them to apply for work authorization from the Department of Homeland Security and, as noted a few days ago, as he continues to modulate his position on the surgical execution of innocent babies in their mothers' wombs.
Obviously, Barack Hussein Obama/Barry Soetero's whole life has been conducted on an Etch-A-Sketch basis. He has changed his name back and forth to suit his purposes, which is why he does not want to release transcripts of his college and law school records. He does not want us to remember his association with Weather Underground bombers William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, the twenty years he spent as a bobblehead doll in the pews of Trinity United Church of Christ listening to Jeremiah Wright, the many times he voted "present" in the Illinois State Senate to avoid taking stands on "controversial" issues, or the constitutional, legal, economic, culture and moral disaster that the past one thousand three hundred sixty-eight days have been for the United States of America and the world. Just forget all about that "stuff."
Actually, this is nothing new. Naturalists who are
the creatures of focus group polling and the advice given them by their
political handlers and marketers always change their positions in order
to win as winning is the only thing that matters in American politics.
Nothing else.
Most of those who participate as gladiators in the
naturalist farce and circus that is electoral politics count on the
simple fact that they can use an "Etch-A-Sketch" strategy to campaign
for office because most voters themselves live "Etch-A-Sketch" lives in
that they do not remember the events of past campaigns or the policy
positions they had taken once in office.
Most Americans, diverted by endless other bread and
circuses that arouses the senses and excite the passions (such as
whether professional football quarterback Tim Tebow, who is some kind of
garden-variety Protestant fundamentalist, fit in with the profane
characters who comprise the New York Jets, headed by a profane
self-promoter by the name of Buddy Ryan), are blank tablets who are apt
to believe whatever is beamed into their skulls repeatedly and
incessantly in campaign television advertisements. Everything is of the
"moment" in this country. Thus it is that people tend believe whatever
is told to them at the moment. It's Etch-A-Sketch time.
Even the man who came out prepared for the slug fest that was televised on Thursday Night at the Fights on Thursday, October 11, 2012, the Feast of the Divine Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., practices his own brand of Etch-A-Sketch politics as he does not want anyone to remember that he was opposed to the surgical assassination of children in their mothers' wombs when he ran for the United States Senate from the State of Delaware for the first time in 1972. He shook up that old Etch-A-Sketch board after the decisions of the Supreme Court of the United States of America in the cases of Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton on Monday, January 22, 1973, after initially declaring that Roe v. Wade had been "wrongly decided" and that "the right of abortion was not secured by the Constitution." Although he did vote against the Federal funding of baby killing except the "hard cases" that are not really so hard, of course, as there is nothing hard about obeying the binding precepts of the Fifth Commandment, and voted for the partial, conditional ban on partial-birth abortions, Biden has been a full-throated rhetorical supporter of baby-killing as part of a woman's "right to choose," and was, of course, a demagogue in the role he played demonizing Judge Robert H. Bork in 1987 and Judge Clarence Thomas in 1992 during the confirmation hearings he chaired for their respective nominations to the Supreme Court of the United States of America in his capacity as the Chairman of the United States Senate on the Judiciary.
Naturalists must live and die by the Etch-A-Sketch board, and it was no different at Thursday Night at the Fight three days ago now.
Needless Strife Between Men Who Should Be In Agreement With Each Other
The two Catholic men who debated each other at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, on Thursday, October 11, 2012, should have been in almost total agreement with each other the Catholic Faith is meant to unite baptized Catholics, not to divide them, admitting that men can disagree with each other in matters of prudential judgment while understanding that everything contained in the Sacred Deposit of Faith is "off the table," so to speak."
To wit, men may, for example, disagree on how best to organize the institutions of civil government. What they cannot disagree about, though, is the fact that any level of government is meant to be as small and as limited in scope as possible, recognizing that the family, not the government, is the essential building block of society. Ah, that's the problem. It has been the systematic, planned destruction of the family that has made the rise of the monster state of Modernity inevitable as men seek to avoid welcoming children in order to maximize wealth, luxury and leisure.
On matters pertaining to moral truth, though, Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., and Paul Davis Ryan, though twenty-eight years apart in age, should understand as a result of their common faith that the matter of the execution of the innocent preborn, whether by chemical or surgical means, is opposed to the binding precepts of the Divine Positive Law and the Natural law and thus injurious to men and the temporal well-being of their nations. Both men should understand that, far from what Representative Ryan said, the taking of innocent human life in the womb is not a "difficult" issue, and that its heinous nature as one of the four sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance is never to be "on the table" for debate or discussion, no less to permitted under cover of the civil law.
No one one who describes himself as a "practicing" Catholic would support the direct, intentional surgical dismemberment of innocent children for any reason.
That Paul Davis Ryan does so in cases where it is alleged that a mother's life is endangered is scandalous. It is even more scandalous that he is considered to be "as pro-life as one can get" as no one is "pro-life" if he supports the direct, intentional taking of any innocent human life under the cover of the civil law.
That Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., has been permitted for nearly forty years now to state the following while remaining a member in "good standing" of what he thinks is the Catholic Church is an inexcusable moral crime on the part of the conciliar "bishops," who must also overlook Biden's full-throated support for "gay marriage" that helped to push his boss, Barack Hussein Obama, to do the same (see Abiding Biden And His Counsel and Silence In The Face Of Advancing Evils):
Biden: My religion defines who I am, and I've been a practicing
Catholic my whole life. And has particularly informed my social
doctrine. The Catholic social doctrine talks about taking care of those
who -- who can't take care of themselves, people who need help. With
regard to -- with regard to abortion, I accept my church's position on
abortion as a -- what we call a (inaudible) doctrine. Life begins at
conception in the church's judgment. I accept it in my personal life.
But I refuse to impose it on equally devout Christians and Muslims
and Jews, and I just refuse to impose that on others, unlike my friend
here, the -- the congressman. I -- I do not believe that we have a right
to tell other people that -- women they can't control their body. It's a
decision between them and their doctor. In my view and the Supreme
Court, I'm not going to interfere with that. With regard to the assault
on the Catholic church, let me make it absolutely clear, no religious
institution, Catholic or otherwise, including Catholic Social Services,
Georgetown Hospital, Mercy Hospital, any hospital, none has to either
refer contraception, none has to pay for contraception, none has to be a
vehicle to get contraception in any insurance policy they provide. That
is a fact. (Transcript of the Vice Presidential Debate at Centre College, Danville, Kentucky, on Thursday, October 11, 2012 the Feast of the Divine Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.)
Guess what, Joe? It is not the Catholic Church that teaches life begins at conception. This is a matter of simple biology that even some of the pagans of yore understood very well. The Catholic Church simply teaches that there can be no instance in which an innocent human life may be directly targeted for assault or execution as the primary end of a moral act. Period.
Admitting that the rump moderator, Martha Raddatz of the American Broadcasting Company propaganda and disinformation division, rarely permitted United States Representative Paul Davis Ryan (R-Wisconsin) an opportunity to elaborate on his remarks, and acknowledging as well Biden's demagogic tactics, which were truly beneath the dignity of one who bears on his immortal soul the indelible seal of Baptism on his soul as a member of the Catholic Church, it is nevertheless the case that Ryan let Biden get away with the "personally opposed" canard when the rejoinder to this callow excuse had been provided to us by Pope Leo XIII nearly one hundred twenty-seven years before:
Hence, lest concord be broken by rash charges, let this be understood by
all, that the integrity of Catholic faith cannot be reconciled with
opinions verging on naturalism or rationalism, the essence of which is
utterly to do away with Christian institutions and to install in society
the supremacy of man to the exclusion of God. Further, it is
unlawful to follow one line of conduct in private life and another in
public, respecting privately the authority of the Church, but publicly
rejecting it; for this would amount to joining together good and evil,
and to putting man in conflict with himself; whereas he ought always to
be consistent, and never in the least point nor in any condition of life
to swerve from Christian virtue. (Pope Leo XIII, Immortale Dei, November 1, 1885.)
Can you imagine someone saying the he is "personally
opposed to the extermination of Jews" but that he could not "impose" his
concept of morality upon others?
Can you imagine someone saying that he is "personally
opposed to chattel slavery" but that he cold not "impose" his concept
of morality upon others?
Can you imagine someone saying that he is "personally
opposed to invidious racial segregation and discrimination" under cover
of civil law but that the could not "impose" his concept of morality
upon others.
People who made such a bifurcation on the killing of
Jews (or any other set of innocent human beings) or on chattel slavery
or on racial segregation and discrimination would be denounced for their
hypocrisy and cowardice. It is, however, "acceptable" in the modern
civil state, including in the United States of America, to support the
extermination of innocent human beings in their mothers' wombs under
cover of the civil law by chemical and surgical means. Those who
bifurcate their "personal" beliefs from their public policy positions in
this instance are hailed as "free-thinkers" who are acting within the
dictates of their "informed consciences."
End of discussion. Morality is
not a matter of our personal "concepts." The morality of human acts is a
matter of objective truth found in the binding precepts of the Divine
Positive Law and the Natural Law. It is no more "imposed" upon others
than are the laws of nature that govern our bodies. Moral truths exist.
They are part of the nature of things. While human beings may disagree
as to the specific penalties that the civil law may impose upon those
found guilty after due process of law of committing heinous crimes in
violation of the precepts contained in the Divine Positive Law and the
Natural Law, they cannot "disagree" what what is contained within those
precepts any more than they can "disagree" about the binding nature of
the law of gravity.
Moral truths exist. One either adheres to
them and realizes the benefits of a well-ordered life or violates them
and reaps the bitter harvest of discord and chaos in one's immortal soul
and in the larger life of one's nation. The sloganeering of the modern
world, a fruit of the illogic of Protestantism and the naturalism of
Judeo-Masonry, a harkening back to the Sophism of ancient Athens in the
Fifth Century before the coming of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ, is no substitute for natural reason and it is no substitute for
the truths contained in the Deposit of Faith that have been entrusted by
this Divine Redeemer to His true Church for their eternal safekeeping
and infallible explication.
Never one for letting facts get in the way his narrative, the consummate attack dog demagogue sought to misrepresent the facts about the Barack Hussein Obama/Barry Soetero-Kathleen Sebelius mandate that requires all employers, including those affiliated with religious institutions, to provide health insurance for contraception and other family planning services, when he said the following in an exchange with Ryan, who brought up the subject without specifically laying out what the terms of the mandate included:
With regard to the assault
on the Catholic church, let me make it absolutely clear, no religious
institution, Catholic or otherwise, including Catholic Social Services,
Georgetown Hospital, Mercy Hospital, any hospital, none has to either
refer contraception, none has to pay for contraception, none has to be a
vehicle to get contraception in any insurance policy they provide. That
is a fact. ((Transcript of the Vice Presidential Debate at Centre College, Danville, Kentucky, on Thursday, October 11, 2012 the Feast of the Divine Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.)
This falsehood, which Paul Davis Ryan called out as such when he asked Biden why why would they [the institutions named by Biden in his answer] keep suing you?", was answered by a statement issued by the so-called United States Conference of Catholic Bishops:
This is not a fact. The HHS mandate contains a narrow, four-part exemption for certain "religious employers." That exemption was made final in February and does not extend to "Catholic social services, Georgetown hospital, Mercy hospital, any hospital," or any other religious charity that offers its services to all, regardless of the faith of those served.
HHS has proposed an additional "accommodation" for religious organizations like these, which HHS itself describes as "non-exempt." That proposal does not even potentially relieve these organizations from the obligation "to pay for contraception" and "to be a vehicle to get contraception." They will have to serve as a vehicle, because they will still be forced to provide their employees with health coverage, and that coverage will still have to include sterilization, contraception, and abortifacients. They will have to pay for these things, because the premiums that the organizations (and their employees) are required to pay will still be applied, along with other funds, to cover the cost of these drugs and surgeries.
USCCB continues to urge HHS, in the strongest possible terms, actually to eliminate the various infringements on religious freedom imposed by the mandate. (USCCB Responds To Inaccurate Statement Of Fact On HHS Mandate Made During Vice Presidential Debate.)
This in and of itself is a work of apostasy as the conciliar "bishops" oppose the health insurance mandate to provide coverage for contraception and other "family planning" services on the grounds of the heresy of "religious liberty," making no mention at all about how contraception is intrinsically evil and can never be sanctioned by the civil government for any reason whatsoever.
Mind you, I am not referring to the legal arguments put forth by the attorneys suing the United States Department of Health and Services. I am referring to the fact that the likes of Timothy Michael "Cardinal" Dolan, the conciliar "archbishop" of New York and the president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, has gone out of his way to state repeatedly that the issue does not concern contraception, only an infringement upon the very heresy that made inevitable the likes of Barack Hussein Obama/Barry Soetero, religious liberty," which was near and dear to the hearts of true bishops of this country from its earliest days and that, having been embraced by the "Second" Vatican Council and made a cornerstone of the "magisterium" of the conciliar "popes," has made it possible for the public careers of Catholics such as Kathleen Sebelius and Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., to thrive. And it is those very same conciliar "bishops" who support ObamaCare as a matter of principle even though it is a violation of the Natural Law principle of subsidiarity and who will denounce any efforts by a nascent Willard Mitt Romney-Paul Davis Ryan administration to reverse it.
The conciliar "bishops" have only themselves to blame for the likes Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., who has been enabled by them for the past forty years as he had mouthed the "personally opposed" platitude and waxed on and on and on and on how how he supports "social programs" that are violations of the principle of subsidiarity and that in no way any part of the authentic social teaching of the Catholic Church. Biden has continued his gratuitous claims about being a "good Catholic" even though he has met personally with two conciliar "popes," Karol Wojtyla/John Paul II and Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI (see Just A Personal Visit). Then again, maybe they told him that he was.
Paul Davis Ryan has been shaped by conciliarism and thus knows almost next-to-nothing about the authentic patrimony of the Catholic Church, including the statements and encyclicals of Popes Pius VI and VIII, Pope Leo XII, Pope Gregory XVI, Pope Pius IX, Pope Leo XIII, Pope Saint Pius X, Pope Benedict XV, and Popes Pius XI and XII. He does not. therefore, have ready ways to illustrate that Biden is an apostate.
Moreover, Ryan, shaped by conciliarspeak, and prepared to say what his handlers in Boston, Massachusetts have told him will "work" with the "moderate" voters in the various "swing" states, wanted to make sure to pull at the heartstrings when he could have done this an said quite simply, " The exchange between Biden and Ryan on abortion could have been ended effectively with the latter saying to the former, "Joe, I don't know about you. However, 'Thou shalt not kill' means something to me. No human being on earth can make this Commandment go away or lose its binding force."
Ah, such are not the ways of those who live and die by the focus groups. And it is awfully difficult for a man who believes that there are instances when innocent babies can be targeted for execution directly in order to "save the lives" of their mothers to refer to the binding precepts of the Fifth Commandment when he does not know what they are and how they apply in concrete circumstances. Paul Davis Ryan is yet another victim of conciliarism and conciliarspeak.
Making Up "Stuff"
Although Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., accused Paul Davis Ryan of making up "a bunch of stuff," it was Biden who earned Pinocchio noses aplenty during the Thursday Night at the Nights fracas three days ago now. He's still do doing so on the campaign trail, claiming yesterday that the largest single killer of babies in the United States of America today, Planned Parenthood, "under law can’t perform any abortions" (see BuzzFeed for the video of Biden's remarks). That is misleading at worst and, at best, is a woeful ignorance of fact on Biden's part, neither of which, of course, is unknown in the life of this plagiarist and demagogue. Even the Obama White House had to issue a statement to "clarify" yet another Biden "misstatement" of fact, explaining that what the boorish lout meant to say was the Federal law prohibits Planned Parenthood and similar organizations from killing babies with taxpayer funds. Biden is the great "stuff-maker-up," perhaps exceeding if this is possible, caesar himself.
Biden made "stuff up" about his administration's response to the attack on the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya, on Tuesday, September 11, 2012., that killed American ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans as he, Biden stuck to the Obama fantasy that the attack was not premeditated but a "spontaneous" response to a trailer for a little known motion picture, Innocence of Muslims, that is said to offend the false "prophet" and mass murderer named Mohammed. Biden dug himself a deeper hole by claiming stubbornly that Obama had based his information on what had been provided to him by the "intelligence community" even though this is patently false as intelligence officials before the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform of the United States House of Representatives have testified that they knew within twenty-four hours that the attack was premeditated. The White House knew as well.
I would have said the following by way of response that Paul Davis Ryan would never have dreamt of saying as he is a full-bore supporter of the "global war on terror" and a reflexive supporter of the murderous policies of the State of Israel:
The government of the United States of America had no business placing its personnel in Benghazi, Libya, if it could provide for their safety. Once again, you see, we are dealing with an administration that is pathologically incapable of putting these two words together or even admit that they exist, "Mohammedan terrorism."
Ah, you see, admitting that Mohammedans have been killing Catholics and other Christians since the start of this false religion by a penultimate blasphemer in his own right, the false prophet Mohammed, who has been praised so lavishly by President Barack Hussein Obama, at the beginning of the Seventh Century A.D., they are doing so now in response to this country's support for the persecution of Arabs by the State of Israel and for this country's unjust, immoral wars on the soil of their countries that have resulted in the deaths of scores upon scores of innocent civilians.
You want to see Mohammedan terrorism stop? Fine.
Get out of Libya, where we never belonged--and into which country John Sidney McCain III advocated the placing of ground stoops.
Get every American out of Iraq, which has been a a moral, economic and geopolitical disaster from beginning to end that has not only killed thousands of innocent Iraqis and reignited section and religious conflicts that were more or less kept in check by Saddam Hussein to flare in the open again, something that has resulted in untold violence against Catholics and other Christians there. Large numbers of Chaldean Rite Catholics have fled from their native land permanently.
Get every American of the trap that has been remains Afghanistan. How many more lives and how much more money must be spent to prop up the Bag Man in a Karakul Hat, Hamid Karzai, and to try to succeed at the imperialistic exercise of social engineering called "nation-building" that the British and the Soviets attempted and failed to do in the past?
Stay out of Syria.
Iran? So what if they develop a nuclear weapon? So what? Lots of countries have nuclear weapons today? Vladimir Putin would never permit the United States of America to attack Iran absent an imminent threat to this country. The leaders of Israel would do so at their own peril and without the help--military or financial--of the United States of America.
Violence abounds in a world where Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is not King over men and their nations. You want true prosperity at home and peace abroad?
Stop promoting under cover of the civil law and as a matter of "human rights" that which is repugnant to the peace and happiness of eternity.
Start pursuing the common temporal good in light of the pursuit of man's Last End, the possession of the glory of the Beatific Vision of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost for all eternity in Heaven.
It is up to the Catholic Church to seek with urgency the unconditional conversion of all men to the true Faith as it is this Holy Faith is the necessary precondition, although not, to be sure, an infallible guarantor, of order within the souls of men and order among men in their own nations and with the other nations of the world. That this has not been done in the past fifty years as a false church has made its "reconciliation" with the very principles of Modernity that have been at the proximate source of our domestic and international problems today is one of the chief consequences of the failure to heed Our Lady's Fatima Message.
The errors of Russia that envelop us are not going to be ended with empty words or new programs or more profligate spending on those programs.
The errors of Russia that envelop us are not going to be ended with half-measures and carefully-crafted messages designed not to "offend" "undecided" voters in "swing" states.
The errors of Russia that have helped to produce a world of violence and deceit and statism can be stopped only if we stop offending God and listen to our Heavenly Mother, who is the patroness of this country under the title of her Immaculate Conception and of the Americas under the title of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Pray the Rosary. Make reparation for one's sins. Pray and work for the conversion of ourselves and our fellow men. Recognize naturalism for what it is, the Pelagian belief that we are self-redemptive and that we can, therefore, "will" ourselves out of whatever problems we face in our own lives an collectively as a nation.
Viva Cristo Rey!
As to the domestic policy issues discussed in the Biden-Ryan debate, there is no need to repeat what was written in Ugh!, which was posted ten days ago now after the first debate between Barack Hussein Obama/Barry Soetero and Willard Mitt Romney.
There is no electoral means to retard the natural, logical, inexorable degeneration of a nation founded on false premises. There is no electoral means to retard the embrace of the most extreme forces of the "leftist" brand of naturalism by the counterfeit church of conciliarism, whose apostasies have produced "Catholics" ignorant of the Faith and almost totally supportive of all manner of moral evils.
The antidote to all of this: to pray and to work for the restoration of Christendom as the fruit of the Triumph of the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Pope Saint Pius X explained in Notre Charge Apostolique, August 15, 1910, that there is only one way to reform society for the better:
For there is no true civilization without a moral civilization, and no true moral civilization without the true religion: it is a proven truth, a historical fact. (Pope Saint Pius X, Notre Charge Apostolique, August 15, 1910.)
Naturalism is designed by the devil to convince fallen man that he can, without submitting himself to the Deposit of Faith that Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ has entrusted exclusively to the Catholic Church for Its infallible explication and eternal safekeeping and without having belief in, access to and cooperation with Sanctifying Grace, change "things" for the "better." Some naturalists even invoke the name of "God," doing so generically. Some invoke the very Holy Name of Jesus Christ in various allocutions and speeches. No one, however, truly knows Who God is unless he accepts what He has revealed about Himself through the Catholic Church. No one knows Our Lord or His teaching truly unless he is a believing Catholic. No one can aspire to true change, that within his immortal soul, without the supernatural helps provided by the Catholic Church.
You want to believe otherwise and act accordingly? Go right ahead. I refuse to spin my wheels on lost causes and movements that are dead ends precisely because they are naturalistic traps from the devil and lead nations into chaos and souls into Hell for all eternity. I, a terrible sinner in need of making much reparation before I die to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary for my many sins, will continue to attempt to help the very few people who read this site to view the world and everything that happens in it through the eyes of the true Faith as I exhort these readers to have nothing at all to do with the counterfeit church of conciliarism, whose "reconciliation" with the false principles of Modernity has confused souls and thus consigned nations into an abyss of woe.
Our refuge in this time of chastisement, which is so very similar to that which befell France one hundred years after the refusal of King Louis XIV and the French bishops to consecrated the entirety of France to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus according to the express command of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ as He made it manifest to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, must be our total consecration to Our Lord through His Most Blessed Mother's Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart. We need our Blessed Mother's help. Only she can help us, and to this end we need to organize more and more public Rosary processions in honor of her Fatima Message and to make reparation for our own sins and those of our nation as we pray for the conversion of the nation and as we take seriously these words of Pope Pius XI, contained in Quas Primas, December 25, 1925:
We firmly hope, however, that the feast of the Kingship of Christ, which in future will be yearly observed, may hasten the return of society to our loving Savior. It would be the duty of Catholics to do all they can to bring about this happy result. Many of these, however, have neither the station in society nor the authority which should belong to those who bear the torch of truth. This state of things may perhaps be attributed to a certain slowness and timidity in good people, who are reluctant to engage in conflict or oppose but a weak resistance; thus the enemies of the Church become bolder in their attacks. But if the faithful were generally to understand that it behooves them ever to fight courageously under the banner of Christ their King, then, fired with apostolic zeal, they would strive to win over to their Lord those hearts that are bitter and estranged from him, and would valiantly defend his rights.
Moreover, the annual and universal celebration of the feast of the Kingship of Christ will draw attention to the evils which anticlericalism has brought upon society in drawing men away from Christ, and will also do much to remedy them. While nations insult the beloved name of our Redeemer by suppressing all mention of it in their conferences and parliaments, we must all the more loudly proclaim his kingly dignity and power, all the more universally affirm his rights. (Pope Pius XI, Quas Primas, December 25, 1925.)
Yes, we must the more loudly proclaim His Kingly dignity and power, all the more universally affirm His rights?
To this end, my friends, we protect ourselves with the Brown Scapular and the Miraculous Medal as we pray as many Rosaries each day as possible in our homes that are enthroned to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. We must not see the fruits in our own lifetimes. We may even have to suffer greatly. The reward is Heavenly.
What are we waiting for?
