No Escaping the Battles Let Loose by Antichrist's Forces of Agitation, Disruption and Death
As this site’s readers, if there are any left, that is, may have noticed, circumstances have caused me to take several steps back from the volume of writing that I was able to produce for several decades.
Although I am working on book projects, which are time consuming as graphics and format designing are not exactly something at which I have any particular expertise or competence, there does come a time when one realizes that there is nothing “new” to say that has not been said thousands of times before. The book projects are being produced to put into the permanent record a sample of some what I have written as much of the “original” writing I can do with the time available to me is not very original at all. While it still takes a great deal of time take to put such articles together and to write a bit of original text relevant to address a particular “crisis” or controversy, the problems that exist in the world and in the counterfeit church of conciliarism are so interrelated that any attempt to examine them is bound to be an exercise in stating the obvious for the umpteenth thousandth time.
Additionally, we are beginning to see the triumph of Big Tech’s censorship of all the commentary they deem filled with “hatred” and “intolerance.” Lifesite News, which features interesting stories written by a team of writers who, though well-meaning, accept Jorge Mario Bergoglio as a true and legitimate Successor of Saint Peter who, is feeling the brunt of the homosexual collective’s global effort to eradicate all opposition to sodomy and its related vices, which, of course, are accepted uncritically by Jorge’s band of Modernist agitators and by members of the two major organized crime families of the false opposites of the naturalist “left” and the naturalist “right” here in the United States of America. It is only a matter of time before websites such as this one will be deemed intolerant and thus no longer featured in the algorithms that drive search engines. A printed permanent record is thus one way to make my body of work somewhat accessible to those few people who might like to have one as a reference resource and for others who might stumble upon it in the Providence of God.
It is with this in mind, therefore, that this current article will offer relatively short commentaries on a number of matters to put the agitations of the moment in a supernatural perspective.
Competing Factions of the Synagogue at War
Robert Mueller, who had been appointed as a special persecutor by then Deputy United States Attorney General Rod Rosentein after the hapless agent of incompetence known as Jefferson Beauregard Sessions recused himself from the “Russian collusion” investigation,” compiled a report that found “insufficient” evidence to conclude that President Donald John Trump had “colluded” with Russia to win the presidency in 2016 but, infamously, let his handpicked claque of Hillary Diane Clinton’s legal assassins assert that there were ten occasions on which it could be alleged that the president tried to obstruct justice. The second part of the “Mueller Report” was nothing other than a roadmap for the Democrats serving on the Committee on the Judiciary in the United States House of Representatives to commence impeachment proceedings against the president, who, despite his Ralph Kramden-style blustering, did nothing to impede the Mueller team’s efforts to pin some kind of crime on him and to entrap many of his associates in process crimes that they themselves created.
This matters not to the “left” as it would not have mattered to most of those in the “left” wing of the synagogue which naturalist of its “right” wing would have won the presidency on November 8, 2016, as they believe that all opposition to them and their ideologically-based “policy” positions is inherently hateful, bigoted, intolerant and inciters to violence who right at all to hold public office of any kind. Although Donald John Trump serves as their handy foil with his ill-tempered “tweets” and his self-laudatory boasts, peppered as they are with obscenities and blasphemies, the professional “leftists” who have been drinking from the public trough their entire adult lives would have found some false pretext to be used against, say, Rafael Edward Cruz, if he had secured the Republican Party’s presidential nomination three years ago and defeated Madame Defarge. Scratch a “liberal,” find a fascist.
The Mueller investigation was such a farce that even Mark Penn, a former associate of Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton, has noted the hypocrisy exhibited by the Democrats in their never-ending saga to oust the president according to the dictates of Soviet-style injustice:
Robert Mueller’s testimony to Congress, by any reasonable standard, should have been the swan song of the impeachment movement.
To state the obvious, there is no evidence that President Trump or any other American probed by the Mueller investigation conspired with the Russian government to influence the 2016 presidential election.
At worst, both campaigns were willing to take research on their opponents fed by Russians. On this score, it appears the Clinton campaign was far more successful, though the use of disguised campaign funds for this purpose has not yet been probed.
I rejected the "collusion" theory early on based on two principal facts: 1) Any fair reading of the Steele dossier reveals it is ridiculous on its face, and 2) The texts from Lisa Page and Peter Strzok conclusively showed bias at work behind the scenes.
On top of these facts came the revelations that the dossier was all paid for by the Democratic National Committee and the Clinton campaign, and that it was all being fed to the FBI through the wife of a senior official who was also on the payroll of that same effort to discredit Trump.
For two years, I have had to qualify my beliefs with something like "subject to the findings of the Mueller report." Well, the Mueller report found nothing. There was no secret witness, no unearthed secret communications, no secret plot coordinated through hidden Trump Tower servers, no trips to Prague, no quid pro quos to remove sanctions.
So why does a third or more of the public still believe in Russia collusion? Because partisanship by our politicians and some in the media knows no bounds, and to partisans, facts and evidence are simply inconvenient bumps on a road to power.
That brings us back to the Mueller testimony and the Mueller Andrew Weissmann investigation. Mueller turned out to be the classic emperor-has-no-clothes witness. He once again said that he did not indict Trump because of the Justice Department policy against indicting a president only to once again retract the statement hours later.
He may be old, but he surely understood he was playing and retracting that card — he would have practiced that question 10 times as it was the only anti-Trump card remaining in his dwindling hand. He ignored that Attorney General William Barr, former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and career Justice Department lawyers all determined that the facts he listed didn’t constitute criminal obstruction of justice.
The president was, as far as the Justice Department was concerned, cleared on obstruction of justice.
Mueller’s weak grasp of the facts, combined with his deputy Weissmann's documented history of prosecutorial abuse, strongly suggests Weissmann ran the investigation, not Mueller. It also indicates that Weissmann enjoyed free rein to go after not just the facts, but the people associated with the president.
Those people were systematically investigated for any and everything that may have gone wrong in their lives and put in a prosecutorial vice, and still Weissmann turned up nothing significant. He found that Paul Manafort, Michael Cohen and perhaps Gen. Michael Flynn had engaged in wrongdoing unrelated to the president. The rest were tripped up by the investigators themselves, who created crimes of intimidation.
Perhaps the most unfounded of all of these is the prosecution of Roger Stone. Finding nothing in his personal or business life to hold over his head, Weissmann combed through his congressional testimony to allege he was hiding his communications with Jerome Corsi. Even if true, it was of no significance to the investigation — Corsi has been widely banned from the internet for being something of a kook.
Nonetheless, scores of armed agents with amphibious units in tow took Stone down in full view of CNN, which just happened to be on the scene. Weissmann, applauded by partisans, will never face accountability for the abuse of civil liberties inherent in his entire investigative approach.
Having hit a dead end, the impeachment train is seeking new witnesses and new subpoenas to tie the president up in investigations and continue the empty threat of impeachment that has the support of about 25 percent of even the House of Representatives. Democratic candidates for president should be wary of all this rather than cheer it on. It’s one of them who might get elected and face midterm elections that flip Congress, and they will find themselves subject to retaliatory investigations normalized by events taking place today.
Targeting political opponents through the legal and subpoena process after a massive investigation revealed no collusion undermines our democracy. It is a far greater threat to our country and its institutions than any ads on Facebook. Whether you think the FBI acted out of political malice (which is now being investigated) or a sense of duty, there is simply no evidence that the president ever committed a crime, or that his top aides were involved in collusion or conspiracy. Nothing of consequence alleged in the Steele dossier was ever proven true.
Mueller's testimony confirmed these basic facts, and it should put impeachment investigations in the rearview mirror. (Mueller Testimony and Investigation was Meant to Lead to Impeachment.)
What Mr. Penn does not realize, of course, is that political systems not founded on right principles must degenerate over the course of time into tyrannies that come to power as a logical consequence of the agitations, discords, conflicts and violence that must always follow in the wake of erroneous propositions.
The impeachment train does indeed roll on. This is an injustice, but it is an injustice that will proceed irrespective of what will be, in all likelihood, another whitewash by United States Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz and of whatever indictments or findings are reached by United States Attorney General William Barr and United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut John Durham about the efforts on the part of elements within the Federal Bureau of Investigation (F.B.I.) and the national intelligence community to thwart Trump’s election and to cripple his presidency with baseless allegations that are leaked to their co-conspirators in the mainslime media. We must never expect justice from those who are personally unjust, and a master of injustice who is helping to orchestrate these events behind the scenes is a man who has long chafed at any kind of political opposition and is condescendingly dismissive of those who dare to question him. Perhaps you have heard of the man. His name is Barack Hussein Obama/Barry Soetoro.
As unjust as this is to the president, of course, the Mueller report and the concomitant relentless assault upon President Donald John Trump by pro-aborts, socialists, professional political leeches, celebrities, so-called entertainers, athletes and thousands of individuals on the payrolls of “community organizing” groups funded by George Soros is just a side show designed to agitate everyone in the United States of America. Catholics must treat this as nothing other than a side show that will do nothing even to decelerate the rate of social decline that is taking place before us as most men alive today concentrate on bread and circuses to the exclusion of any or all supernatural considerations.
An Old Trick of the Adversary Being Used to Shut the Mouths of Those Who Know Better
A very useful trick in the adversary’s playbook is to pit false opposites against each other to enable evil to advance either by incrementally or aggressively as “rooters” for either side maintain a strict code of silence, a veritable omerta, whenever one of their “own pursues policies with which they disagree and/or are in face objectively wrong.
This is what happened in the 1980s when many “conservatives” held their tongues when President Ronald Wilson Reagan nominated Sandra Day O’Connor, a known pro-abort, to replace the retiring Associate Justice Potter Stewart on the Supreme Court of the United States of America. As I have noted in the past, it was evident to me that, apart from rhetoric, Reagan was going to do nothing to do anything of substance to fight the daily slaughter of the preborn. A schoolmate of mine from Saint John’s University who had risen to some prominence in the banking community protested to me in 1982 that the Democrats in Congress would give Reagan “anything he wanted” once he got the economy moving, and the late Henry King, a longtime reporter for The Wanderer, protested to me in the 1990s after I had given a talk on Long Island said, “Tom, you’ve got to stop criticizing Reagan. People love him. He’s the best we’ve had.” In other words, shut up about Reagan’s bevy of pro-abortion allies, endorsements, Cabinet appointees and judicial nominees and be a participant, only if by silence, in his secular “canonization.”
The power behind the throne during the Reagan presidency was a pro-abort. Her name was Nancy Davis Reagan, and she plotted her husband’s every major move according to the “advice” given her by a soothsayer, Joan Quigley, a noted “astrologer,” in direct violation of the First Commandment. This fact was revealed by an understandably frustrated Donald Regan, who had served as Ronald Reagan’s Secretary of the Treasury during his first term and as his White House Chief of Staff from February 4, 1985, to February 25, 1987, in his autobiography (see hoan Quigley, Astrolger to a First Lady, is dead at 87.) There should no hagiographies written about people who put their faith, such as it is, in a soothsayer and not in the true God of Divine Revelation, the Most Blessed Trinity, and in the infallible teaching authority of His true Church, the Catholic Church, outside of which there is no salvation and without which there can be no true social order. It is fallacious to insist that one has to be silent about supposed naturalist heroes because they are being attacked by their naturalist opponents.
Similarly, I took a lot of “incoming” during the presidency of President George Walker Bush, whose ignorance of truth, history and even contemporary facts was of epic proportions, for discussing his phony “pro-life” policies, his Cabinet appointees, many of whom were out-and-out pro-aborts and the fake, phony, fraud nature of the claims he made to justify the invasion and occupation of a sovereign nation that posed no threat to the United States of America, Iraq. Bush the Lesser was always eager to do the bidding of the Zionist State of Israel.
Numerous letter writers denounced me on the Seattle Catholic website, from which my articles were expunged many a moon ago, in 2002 and early-2003 for my unqualified opposition to Dubya’s plans to invade and occupy Iraq on the false pretext of destroying “mass weapons of destruction.” A two part-article that appeared on the Daily Catholic website, The Real Enemies Are Within, part 1, and The Real Enemies Are Within, part 2, and was published in the printed pages of Christ or Chaos and several commentaries in The Remnant, including “For What” on January 31, 2003, and predicted the geopolitical, economic and moral catastrophe that would be caused by “W’s” neoconservative scheme to make the Middle East safe for the Zionists, and an article written nine years ago, Longer Than World War II, reviewed “42’s” moral wreckage seven years after American forces invaded Iraq on March 20, 2003 (March 19, 2003, Eastern Standard Time).
The Catholics of Iraq have suffered greatly at the hands of the “liberated” Iraq, whose leaders have looked the other way as their Mohammedan co-religionists have conducted a veritable jihad against Chaldean Rite Catholic shrines, churches and adherents:
The International Union for the Conservation of Nature has several categories to define the danger of extinction that various species face today. Using a percentage of population decline, the categories range from “vulnerable species” (a 30-50 per cent decline), to “critically endangered” (80-90 per cent) and finally to extinction.
In June Pope Francis announced his desire to visit Iraq sometime in 2020. The country has been home to a Christian community since apostolic times. Yet following the coalition invasion of Iraq in 2003, and the removal of Saddam Hussein, the Christian population of Iraq has shrunk by 83 per cent, putting it in the category of “critically endangered”.
Only last month, on a visit to London, Bashar Warda, the Chaldean Catholic Archbishop of Erbil, declared that the Christian population of Iraq was facing “extinction”. This is despite the defeat of ISIS and the liberation of the towns it had occupied on the Nineveh Plains, the traditional Christian heartland.
The wave of sectarian violence unleashed in Iraq following the defeat of Saddam hit the Christian minority in Iraq particularly savagely. Long before the genocidal violence of ISIS, Christians were being kidnapped, robbed and murdered by both Sunni and Shia groups. By 2014, even before the arrival of ISIS, the majority of Mosul’s Christian population had already removed themselves to the (as it seemed) safer environment of the Nineveh Plains, due to the increasing threats they faced at home. According to Archbishop Warda, the violence of ISIS was only the culmination of many years of persecution.
To date, less than half of the more than 120,000 Christians driven out of the Nineveh Plains by ISIS have returned to their homes, despite a programme of rebuilding and reconstruction which has progressed very slowly. Hungary, unique in the world as the only government with a specific ministry devoted to helping persecuted Christians, has been at the forefront of the rebuilding efforts since 2016, offering generous support to the Iraqi faithful.
Yet because of the continuing menace of ISIS, and other emerging threats, the Christian population continues to decline, with families leaving Iraq every week. Despite territorial defeat, ISIS fighters – both sleeper cells embedded in the population and larger groups still actively fighting – continue to present dangers.
Already this summer, what should have been one of the best harvests on the Nineveh Plains has been severely damaged by an ISIS campaign of crop and field burning. Attacks continue, with virtually no Christian families returning to live in Mosul, which is still considered too dangerous.
On a visit to Iraq this January, I was told that, despite a priest being appointed for a church in Mosul, he was not able to live in the city, and there is no resident bishop. Those who have returned to other liberated towns and villages face a new threat: Iran-backed Shia militias who, despite claims that the Iraqi army controls security in the so-called “disputed territory” of Nineveh, are, in fact, the real force. They have been harassing the Christian population, notably in the town of Bartella, with threats made against the local clergy and incidents of violence.
According to local sources, the much-vaunted help from the United States, through the USAID programme, is very sporadic. The steady dwindling of the Christian population of Iraq continues because of the lack of security and employment. Without jobs, families have no incentive to stay, and without security they will not stay.
Christians in the region feel forgotten by those who promised to do so much for them. Having lived through the genocide of 2014, they see little sign that, if the same happens again, the West will come to their aid. Media coverage of the threats to Iraq’s ancient Christian civilisation seems to be limited and infrequent.
So Western Christians can perhaps be forgiven for believing that all is well for Iraqi Christians following the “defeat” of ISIS.
However, many Christian leaders bear a considerable responsibility, whether through ignorance or indifference, for the “critically endangered” status of Iraq’s Christian population. Archbishop Warda was blunt in his criticism of Church leadership during his visit to Britain. The silence was due, he said, to “political correctness”, with clerics afraid to speak out for fear of being labelled Islamophobic. A phobia, of course, is an irrational fear: there is nothing irrational about the fears of Iraqi Christians.
A papal visit to Iraq next year would certainly bring hope and comfort to a Church which has survived nearly 2,000 years but which is now critically endangered. But it may be too late to save the Church of Iraq, and Pope Francis may preside not over a celebration of the rebirth of Christianity in Iraq, but rather a wake for a once vibrant culture.
An Iraqi bishop once told me that the world cares more about endangered frogs than persecuted Christians. If Christianity in Iraq disappears, “for the sake of not wanting to speak the truth to the persecutors,” said Archbishop Warda, “will the world be complicit in our elimination?” (The Harsh Truth about Iraqi Christianity.)
Leaving aside the business about “Pope Francis,” Dubya, W., 42, or whatever you want to call him, was a neoconservative tool of the Zionists who was no more committed to the restoration of the unconditional legal protection of the innocent preborn as his predecessor, William Jefferson Blythe Clinton, or his successor, Barack Hussein Obama/Barry Soetoro. To have criticized this ignoramus was my duty as a Catholic and as a citizen of the United States of America.
I refused to give Bush the Lesser a pass on his unconstitutional and immoral Wilsonian scheme to bring “democracy” to Iraq just because so many people believed in the myth that he was “pro-life,” and it is not in the service of truth to refuse to criticize Donald John Trump, who is as viscerally resentful of criticism as the man who is still orchestrating the “resistance” in his ex-presidency, Barack Hussein Obama/Barry Soetoro (see, for example, See Caesar Pout), when he is wrong. We put not our trust in princes, and we can never be silent about mistaken policies, erroneous ideas or the shameless use of blasphemies and profanities that coarsen public discourse to a point where no child’s ears are safe from such words just because the current president is hated by the “left” and is blamed for every act of carnage wrought by the minds of souls in league, whether wittingly or unwittingly, with the devil.
Thus, my good and few readers, it is necessary, at least as far as I see it, to point out that President Donald John Trump’s refusal to criticize the Chicoms for their brutal totalitarian rule nor to make a restrained comment in support of the freedom for the people of Hong Kong without endorsing protesters’ use of violence serves the interests of dictator Xi Jinping very well.
Ironically, Trump’s refusal to criticize Communist totalitarianism places him in the same company of Chicom enablers as many of his harshest critics in academe, entertainment, the Democratic Party, the lords the “high tech” capital of the world, Silicon Valley, and, the George Soros stooge residing at the Casa Santa Marta, Jorge Mario Bergoglio. Almost everyone, it would appear, has sold out to the Red Chinese monsters, and very few American citizens are in the least bit concerned about the fact that five percent of the American national debt is owed to Red China, whose state-run and state-authorized companies are purchasing buildings and land in the United States of America at a rapid pace.
Here is a brief commentary on the amount of debt the government of the United States of America owes to Red China, which takes into account the complete justifiable and long overdue trade war that President Trump has started with Red China, which is the reason he does not want to criticize that prison nation’s totalitarianism. It’s all about the money, the money, the money:
The U.S. debt to China is $1.11 trillion as of May 2019. That's 27% of the $4.1 trillion in Treasury bills, notes, and bonds held by foreign countries. The rest of the $22 trillion national debt is owned by either the American people or by the U.S. government itself.
China has the greatest amount of U.S. debt held by a foreign country. Japan comes second at $1.10 trillion. It's followed the United Kingdom at $332 billion, Brazil at $306 and Ireland at $271 billion.
The map below shows a breakdown of the top five countries owning U.S. debt. Combined, they hold 75% of U.S. debt held by foreign countries.
China has reduced its holdings of U.S. debt since November 2013, when it held $1.3 trillion. It wants to allow its currency, the yuan, to rise. To do that, China had to loosen its peg to the dollar. That made the yuan more attractive to forex traders in global markets. China's economy is also slowing down due to President Donald Trump's trade war. As China's exports decline, it's less able to invest in U.S. Treasurys.
Long-term, China wants the yuan to replace the U.S. dollar as the world's global currency. China is also responding to accusations of manipulation. Most countries want their currency values to fall so they can win the global currency wars. Countries with lower currency values export more since their products cost less when sold in foreign countries.
Before February 2014, China had been strengthening the yuan to dollar conversion in response to U.S. pressure. But it reversed course when the dollar rose 25% in 2014 and 2015, creating an asset bubble. Since the yuan's exchange rate was fixed to the dollar, the increase dragged the yuan's value up with it. China had to manually lower the yuan's value to remain competitive with other emerging markets that had free-floating currencies.
China has held more than $1 trillion in U.S. debt every year since 2010. That's when the U.S. Department of the Treasury changed how it measures the debt. Before July 2010, Treasury reports showed that China held $843 billion in debt. This makes it difficult to make long-term comparisons.
How China Became One of America's Biggest Bankers
China is more than happy to own almost a fifth of the U.S. debt owned by foreigners. Owning U.S. Treasury notes helps China's economy grow. It keeps the yuan weak relative to the dollar. As a result, Chinese exports are less expensive than U.S. products. China's highest priority is creating enough jobs for its 1.4 billion people.
The United States allowed China to become one of its biggest bankers because Americans enjoy low consumer prices. Selling debt to China pays for federal spending that spurs U.S. economic growth. It also keeps U.S. interest rates low. But China's ownership of the U.S. debt is shifting the economic balance of power in its favor.
What Happens If China Called in Its Debt Holdings
China would not call in its debt all at once. If it did, the demand for the dollar would plummet. This dollar collapse would disrupt international markets even more than the 2008 financial crisis. China's economy would suffer along with everyone else's.
It's more likely that China would slowly begin selling off its Treasury holdings. Even when it just warns that it plans to do so, dollar demand starts to drop. That hurts China's competitiveness. As it raises its export prices, U.S. consumers would buy American products instead. China could only start this process if it further expands its exports to other Asian countries and increases domestic demand.
China's Debt-Holder Strategy Is Working
China's low-cost competitive strategy worked. Its economy grew 10% annually for the three decades before the recession. As of 2018, it's growing at almost 7%, a more sustainable rate. China has become the largest economy in the world, outpacing the United States and the European Union. China also became the world's biggest exporter in 2010. China needs this growth to raise its low standard of living. Despite its threats, China will continue to be one of the world's largest holders of U.S. debt. (How Much of the U.S. Debt does Red China own?)
Red Chinese leaders have long believed that a confrontation with the United States of America is inevitable, and they, after having carefully studied our current president and his penchant for backing down after making grandiose promises (repeating ObamaCare, defunding Planned Barrenhood, building that border war, etc.), have decided that President Donald John Trump is in a weakened position politically and that now is the best time to attack the United States of America where it hurts most: the value of the American dollar:
(Bloomberg) -- China responded to President Donald Trump’s tariff threat with another escalation of the trade war on Monday, letting the yuan tumble to the weakest level in more than a decade and asking state-owned companies to suspend imports of U.S. agricultural products.
The moves antagonized Trump, who used Twitter to accuse China of “currency manipulation” which “will greatly weaken China over time!” He has previously criticized Beijing for not keeping to promises to buy more U.S. crops.
Stocks and emerging-market currencies sank on concern a prolonged conflict between the superpowers will weigh on global economic growth, while haven assets including the Japanese yen, U.S. Treasuries and gold climbed. Investors increased bets on Federal Reserve interest-rate cuts.
“It’s among the worst-case scenarios,” said Michael Every, head of Asia financial markets research at Rabobank in Hong Kong. “First markets sell off, then Trump wakes up and this all gets far, far worse.”
In a statement published Monday evening in Beijing, People’s Bank of China Governor Yi Gang said China won’t use the yuan as a tool to deal with trade disputes.
“I am fully confident that the yuan will remain a strong currency in spite of recent fluctuations amid external uncertainties,” Yi said, adding that the bank will work to ensure “reasonable and legal demand” by companies and the public for foreign exchange.
Trump last week proposed adding 10% tariffs on another $300 billion in Chinese imports from Sept. 1, abruptly ramping up the trade war between the world’s largest economies shortly after the two sides had restarted talks. Chinese bureaucrats were stunned by Trump’s announcement, according to officials who’ve been involved in the negotiations.
The threat of more tariffs came just as Chinese President Xi Jinping and other senior members of the Communist Party gathered for a secretive summer getaway in Beidaihe, a seaside town about a three-hour drive from Beijing. Xi had already faced pressure for weeks to take a harder stance on trade -- particularly after the U.S. blacklisted telecom equipment giant Huawei Technologies Co.
Editorials in state-run newspapers suggested Xi will reject any deal that either retains punitive tariffs or forces China to make concessions on issues like state-run enterprises that could weaken the party’s grip on power.
The harder line underlines a growing feeling in Beijing that Trump can’t be trusted to cut a deal, and that China would be better off waiting to see if a Democratic presidential candidate -- many of whom have criticized the use of tariffs -- takes office. The halt in agricultural purchases could hurt Trump in politically sensitive states ahead of the 2020 election.
The MSCI Asia Pacific Index slid 2.1% on Monday, the biggest drop since October 2018. European shares and S&P 500 index futures also retreated, while the yield on 10-year U.S. Treasuries declined about 8 basis points to 1.77%, the lowest level since 2016.
The onshore yuan weakened 1.4% to 7.0391 a dollar, falling sharply on Monday morning after the PBOC set its daily reference rate at a weaker level than 6.9 for the first time since December.
“Breaking seven is due to a mix of factors: an escalation of trade war, the softening of China’s economy and a willingness for the PBOC to tolerate higher volatility for the yuan,” said Larry Hu, head of China economics at Macquarie Securities Ltd. in Hong Kong. “The PBOC has entered uncharted waters, so it has to manage expectations carefully.”
In an earlier statement, the central bank attributed the yuan move to protectionism and expectations of additional tariffs on Chinese goods.
By linking today’s devaluation with the renewed tariff threat, the PBOC “has effectively weaponized the exchange rate,” said Julian Evans-Pritchard at Capital Economics in Singapore. “The fact that they have now stopped defending 7 against the dollar suggests that they have all but abandoned hopes for a trade deal.”
What Bloomberg’s Economists Say...
“China appears to be posturing for worse to come in the trade war. Letting the yuan weaken past 7 against the dollar suggests it’s looking to buffer the economy from a more severe trade shock.”-- David Qu, Qian Wan and Ye Xie. (Red China hits back at Trump.)
President Donald John Trump has, quite commendably, stood firm against the unfair trading practices of the Red Chinese, but the Chicoms are willing to let their own people suffer economically to inflict pain on the American dollar and upon Wall Street investors, most of whom have financial portfolios that are heavily reliant upon investments in multinational corporations that manufacture goods in Red China and/or in actual Chinese-owned companies. However, the Red Chinese threat to the United States of America is more than monetary, however, as its property holdings in this country, although somewhat reduced from what they were a few years ago, are still extensive and its use of the Confucius Institute to propagandize in behalf of Red China and Communism in the name of “diversity” and “tolerance” is at one and the same time a means of intelligence-gathering and brainwashing, much of which is funded by multinational corporations that are heavily invested in Red China and whose leaders serve as ready lackeys to the Chicom thugs. Yes, it’s all about the money, the money, the money. Have I said this lately?
Here is a bit of reminder about the dangers of the Confucius Institute:
China is waging a global propaganda war in an attempt to silence overseas critics, while it has unleashed the most repressive crackdown on internal dissent since the Tiananmen Square massacre 30 years ago.
Footsoldiers in this war include Chinese state media reporters, diplomats and students studying overseas, recruited to do the bidding of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The most recent example has been the debate by the London School of Economics over whether to adjust the depiction of Taiwan on a sculpture, after complaints from Chinese students.
s weapons include political infiltration and influence, a global media outfit, threats and aggression towards activists abroad, an attempt to hijack and derail the human rights agenda at the United Nations, and — as some are slowly realising — deploying hundreds of innocuous-sounding language and culture institutions embedded in universities and schools.
China’s Confucius Institutes, which on the surface appear to be simply an equivalent of the British Council, American Centre, Alliance Francaise or Germany’s Goethe Institutes, are now present in at least 548 universities and 1,193 schools in 154 countries, according to the 2017 Confucius Institute’s Annual Development Report, which also notes that with a US$314 million budget, 46,200 teachers and 1.7 million students, China aims to have 1,000 Confucius Institutes by 2020 in what it calls a “Confucius revolution.”
South Korea opened the world’s first Confucius Institute in 2004, and it now has 23, the most in Asia. Thailand, second in the region, has 16 Confucius Institutes, while Japan has 15. Indonesia has seven and India, Pakistan, the Philippines and Malaysia have four, but Confucius Institutes also exist in Singapore, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Mongolia, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.
Britain has at least 29, the second-largest number in the world after the United States, in major universities such as Edinburgh, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Cardiff and University College London, along with 148 Confucius “classrooms” in schools around the country.
onfucius Institutes purport to teach Chinese language and culture, which is surely welcome. As China takes its place as a world superpower, we need to understand its history and culture, and we need more people to speak the language.
But scratch the surface and you find that it is not all they do. They also represent a potential threat to academic freedom and freedom of expression in educational institutions and democracies.
About 12 years ago, the CCP’s propaganda chief at the time, Li Changchun, described Confucius Institutes as “an important part of China’s overseas propaganda set-up.” In 2010, Xu Lin, director-general of a unit of China’s education ministry known as the Hanban, confirmed that the party wanted to expand its influence and Confucius Institutes were an important part of China’s soft power.
Confucius Institutes are directly controlled, funded and staffed by the Hanban, which is currently chaired by Sun Chunlan, a Politburo member who previously headed the United Front Work Department, the party’s principal propaganda outfit.
China’s propaganda minister Liu Yunshan said in 2010 that “overseas propaganda should be comprehensive, multi-level and wide-ranging… We should do well in establishing and operating overseas cultural centres and Confucius Institutes.”
Even President Hu Jintao, Xi Jinping’s predecessor, endorsed the institutes as a way “to cultivate and prepare a group (or army) of people to make sure the CCP will be in power in the future… and increase our CCP influence around the world.”
arlier this year Britain’s Conservative Party Human Rights Commission published a report based on an inquiry into Confucius Institutes. It draws on evidence from experts, and from the documentary film In the Name of Confucius, and its conclusion is that Confucius Institutes threaten academic freedom and freedom of expression, and represent — as the CCP itself says — an endeavour by the Chinese regime to spread its propaganda and suppress its critics beyond its borders.
his conclusion is consistent with that reached by the U.S. Congress, the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and intelligence agencies in Canada and Belgium.
In 2018, the CIA cautioned against offers of Chinese funding to universities in exchange for academic censorship, and the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) told the Senate Intelligence Committee that Confucius Institutes were under investigation.
Congress has introduced legislation strengthening requirements for transparency of foreign funding for universities, and requiring Confucius Institutes to register with the Department of Justice as agents of the Chinese government.
Canada’s former Asia-Pacific intelligence chief Michael Juneau-Katsuya claims that Confucius Institutes are linked to China’s intelligence services and “represent a clear and undeniable menace to our society.”
Confucius Institutes have one common theme: the total suppression of discussion of three topics beginning with “T” — Tiananmen, Tibet and Taiwan.
Rachelle Peterson, policy director of the U.S.-based National Association of Scholars, says that Confucius Institutes represent a “subversive political agenda overseen by the Chinese government,” while Nottingham Trent University lecturer Tao Zhang says that they “are strategically located in various foreign universities, allowing the Chinese authorities to gain a foothold for the exercise of control over the study of China.”
They are, she adds, “an extension of the Chinese education system, directly controlled by the state and having the same ideological and propaganda roles as schools and universities in China.”
Examples abound of universities withdrawing invitations to controversial speakers under pressure from China or removing certain publications.
n 2014, at a European Association for Chinese Studies conference in Portugal, Hanban director-general Xu Lin confiscated all the printed programmes and ordered pages advertising a Taiwanese co-sponsor to be removed.
Similarly, a book published by a Confucius Institute completely censored an entire section about Chinese dissident Wu Lihong’s environmental activism in a chapter by China expert Isabel Hilton. Invitations to the Dalai Lama have been withdrawn or moved off campus.
Discrimination against personal beliefs
Perhaps most chilling is the alleged discrimination in hiring practices in Confucius Institutes. According to the National Association of Scholars, Hanban eligibility criteria for Confucius Institute teachers has included that they should “have no record of participation in Falun Gong.”
Sonia Zhao, a Chinese teacher who practised Falun Gong, a Buddha-school spiritual movement, was employed by Hanban and sent to the Confucius Institute at McMaster University in Canada.
Prior to going to Canada, she was given a three-month training course in Beijing. “We were told to tell the students that there is only one China, Taiwan is part of China… Tibet is part of China… We were told not to talk about issues like Taiwan and Tibet,” she says.
“We also had to sign a contract. In the contract, it says that ‘we can’t be Falun Gong practitioners’… This contract takes effect in all Confucius Institutes in all countries. This contract shows discrimination against teachers’ personal beliefs and this is how they violate freedom of belief worldwide.”
In 2011, Sonia Zhao alerted McMaster University to these concerns. She was afraid that, if she
admitted to being a Falun Gong practitioner, she would be punished. As a result of her complaint, McMaster University terminated its relationship with the Hanban and closed its Confucius Institute.
Since then, others have followed suit. At least 30 universities and one school board have or will cut ties with Confucius Institutes.
Confucius Institutes are by no means China’s only soft power tool. But when combined with the Chinese Students and Scholars Associations, they represent a powerful menace to academic freedom. They also serve to keep an eye on Chinese students studying abroad, who might otherwise find freedom of thought and expression appealing.
Prof. Christopher Hughes of the London School of Economics says in a paper on the subject that when the LSE opened a Confucius Institute in 2006, “Chinese students… revealed that they were disappointed to arrive at a foreign university only to discover that their own government had established an organisation on campus that made it feel as though they were still under the kind of surveillance that they had to live with in China.”
One student told Prof. Hughes that the Confucius Institute felt like closed-circuit television and “has the potential to scare away my critical thinking.”
So what should be done? Clearly, we cannot disengage with China. But as the UK’s House of Commons foreign affairs committee report published last week argues, we need to recalibrate our relationship and put national security first.
As part of that recalibration, we should be re-examining not only the balance of trade versus human rights, the security concerns around Huawei, and the questions of political influence, but also the question of Confucius Institutes.
know the pressure and fear,” says Sonia Zhao. “No one deserves that. I hope Confucius Institutes can be closed so that teachers can teach Chinese language freely and students can learn about the real China and Chinese culture, not the Chinese communists’ culture.”
If we are unwilling to go as far as to close Confucius Institutes just yet, we should at least consider measures similar to the US legislation — conduct a thorough review, suspend any new deals with Confucius Institutes until a review is complete, and ensure measures are in place to guarantee academic freedom and freedom of expression, non-discrimination and complete transparency of funding sources.
We would do well to remember the words of retired British diplomat Roger Garside, who says that “academic freedom is inherently compromised by permitting a state agency controlled by the Communist Party of China to establish a teaching operation in any school or university.”
Or, as Rachelle Peterson says, “there is a threat not only to the integrity of our institutions today but more importantly to the future of higher education and the future of all free countries.” That, surely, is a reason to act. (Overseas Chinese Confucius Institutes Pose Powerful Threat to Academic Freedom.)
Well, the Confucius Institutes can never guarantee the American concept of “academic freedom of expression” as they are nothing other than a means to propagate Communist ideology and a respect for Chinese “traditions,” starting with Confucianism, that is predicated upon a firm opposition of any displays of Christianity, including the Crucifix. Although some colleges and universities are beginning to back away from the Confucius Institute, it is still located in one hundred three colleges/universities in this country and in seven public school districts, including Houston, Texas, Chicago, Illinois, Seattle, Washington, and Broward County, Florida. (For the full list, please see Updated List of Confucius Institute locations in the United States of America.) One of the Confucius Institutes that closed was located at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, and it did so after two members of the United States of Representatives, Michael McCaul and Henry Cuellar, provided evidence that the Institute’s “scholars” had access to classified information that they, the Congressmen, did not have. In other words, the institutes are propaganda centers and spy joints (see Updated List of Confucious Institutes Closed in the United States of America as of July 12, 2019).
There’s more than a “trade deal” at stake with Red China, to which our government and the panoply of multinational corporations that have no loyalty to anything other than their own bottom line headed by men who care not for their wretched working conditions in which their goods manufactured by Chicom slave labor have been selling the rope ever since President Richard Nixon’s Shanghai Agreement with Prime Minister Chou en-Lai on February 26, 1972. Xi Jinping knows that he could crack down on protesters in Hong Kong without any fear of reprisals from the “free” West as he understands full well that Westerners care about the money, the money, and the money above all other considerations.
An article of mine published in 2017, Still Selling the Rope After All These Years, part one, provided an extensive history of this country’s government’s bipartisan sellout to the Red Chinese since the Shanghai Agreement and documented the extent to which multinational corporate interests are deeply embedded in the Communist slave state at the expense of manufacturing jobs here in the United States of America. As is well known, Hollywood and Silicon Valley kowtow to the Chicoms for the sake of money but also because of a kindred spirit:
Technology: Google's mission statement is "organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful." But these days, Google seems more interested in censorship than accessibility.
The Daily Caller, a conservative news site, recently got its hands on an internal email exchange where Google employees lamented Donald Trump's election victory and discussed burying conservative news sites in search results to "make sure that we reverse things in four years."
think we have a responsibility to expose the quality and truthfulness of sources — because not doing so hides real information under loud noises," one Google engineer said, after complaining that stories from the Daily Caller and Breitbart, another conservative site, were showing up "next to legitimate news organizations."
Anti-Conservative Algorithm?
"Too many times, Breitbart is just echoing a demonstrably made up story," he said.
Another engineer on the email chain talked about how Google should "link to critiques of those sources" to make sure people aren't just getting "context-free rage-inducing sound-bytes."
And here we thought Google was just a search engine designed to provide people relevant results based on their searches.
Google (parent company Alphabet (GOOGLE)) says that this discussion was just that, a discussion, and that the company never, ever, ever manipulates search results for ideological reasons.
Maybe so. But a while back we were looking for examples of fake news about Trump from mainstream news outlets, using the search string "mainstream media fake news trump."
Both Bing and DuckDuckGo returned links to articles from conservative sites like The Federalist, Townhall, Forbes, and Breitbart at the very top of the results.
But on Google? Liberal news sites or think tanks — like Axios, the Washington Post, the Atlantic, the Brookings Institution — dominated the top results. Most of those were attacks on Trump for talking about fake news.
'The Good Censor'
In any case, Google apparently considers censorship part of its role today. Earlier this year, Breitbart got hold of an internal briefing document titled "The Good Censor," which states that Google and other tech giants that "control the majority of online conversations" have taken a "shift towards censorship."
"Tech firms," the document states, "have gradually shifted away from unmediated free speech and towards censorship and moderation."
Google says the goal is to weed out bad actors, but admits that part of the reason for this shift is to "maintain global expansion," "protect advertisers," and "increase revenues."
Google says that document was just "research" and doesn't reflect "official Google positions."
But Google is, in fact, busy creating a search engine for China that will censor results based on the dictates of China's communist government.
Aiding Chinese Censors
The project, code-named Dragonfly, prompted more than 400 Google employees to sign a letter of protest this week, objecting to the company's creating "technologies that aid the powerful in oppressing the vulnerable."
"Dragonfly in China," the letter stated, "would establish a dangerous precedent at a volatile political moment, one that would make it harder for Google to deny other countries similar concessions."
When Google went public in 2004, Larry Page and Sergey Brin wrote a founders' letter boasting about how Google's "atmosphere of creativity and challenge … has helped us provide unbiased, accurate and free access to information for those who rely on us around the world."
Maybe it's time for Google executives to reread that letter, as well as their company's mission statement. Otherwises, consumers might just decide to switch their searches over to competitors like Bing or DuckDuckGo. (Google Censors Conservatives and works also in behalf of Chinese censors. I had to search for this article on Bing as the Google algorithms evidently are such as to prevent a search such as I had specified.)
This is one the reasons that I am concentrating more on the book projects as the clock is ticking down to the moment when the mask of “freedom” will be stripped from the “world wide web,” and although I have not been in a motion picture theatre since watching For Greater Glory seven years ago in West Chester, Ohio, it is most unfortunately the case that many Americans, including even many fully traditional Catholics, still patronize Hollywood, which has always been in the control of Talmudists, whose priority, of course, has always been and continues to be the money, the money, and the money. This is why the current crop of Hollywood pagans is kowtowing to the Butchers of Beijing as never before:
Don’t be fooled by the Americans behind the camera. In today’s Hollywood, there’s one director—and that’s China.
As important as U.S. audiences are, filmmakers know there’s a bigger one. And they’re willing to do anything they can to tap into it, even if it means becoming co-conspirators with one of the most evil censorship operations in the world.
It’s the biggest partnership no one knows about, and according to some experts, the most dangerous.
The majority of Americans probably have no idea when they buy a ticket to the latest blockbuster that the film they’re about to see was either partially financed by China or altered because of it.
The liberal Left continue to push their radical agenda against American values. The good news is there is a solution. Find out more >>
In the last several years, there hasn’t been a more powerful influence over Hollywood than the communist regime—and with Chinese ticket sales set to overtake the U.S., the situation is only going to get worse.
There’s a sinister side to all of this, which is that the more Hollywood relies on China’s market to make movies, the more those movies are going to cater to the country’s demands.
The Heritage Foundation’s Mike Gonzalez has been tracking the major revolution in filmmaking because of the Chinese market and thinks more Americans need to be paying attention.
“Hollywood does all kinds of things to make sure they have a slice of the Chinese pie,” he told listeners on “Washington Watch.” “And they’re quite open about it. They don’t hide it. They’re quite happy to submit to the censorship of the Chinese Communist Party.”
“It goes something like this,” he explained. “In order for the U.S. film to crack the Chinese market, certain themes cannot be portrayed, certain products must be taken out, and certain speech must be limited.”
The process has become so rigorous that a lot of studios are actually flying over these Chinese censors to sit in on filming.
In some instances, entire scripts have been changed—either to conform to the communists’ messaging or showcase China in the best possible light.
Others try to save themselves the time and money of those overhauls by just co-producing their movies with the Chinese from the start—including, in 2018, some of the biggest box office successes: “Mission: Impossible – Fallout,” “Venom,” “The Meg,” and “Pacific Rim: Uprising.”
The obvious result of all this, Gonzalez argues, is that:
American audiences are being submitted to censorship—not our own censorship, but a foreign power’s censorship—and a Communist Party censorship.
We get shown a very benign view of China, in which China is a normal country, no different from Paris, or Britain, or Germany. That isn’t the case, obviously.
If you speak against the government in Germany, nothing happens to you. If you speak against the government in China, they’ll throw you in jail.
By letting China call the shots, these filmmakers have actually become complicit in the attack on free expression—their expression.
Just think about it, Gonzalez said:
How come there’s never been a movie about the Tiananmen Square massacre? That was drama there. There were students who were crushed by soldiers. There was blood, there was death, there was scheming.
And yet Hollywood has never made a movie about Tiananmen. Why? Because any studio who makes a movie about Tiananmen knows that will be shut out forever from the Chinese box office market.
This is a country with such suffocating strictness that even Winnie the Pooh is banned. Why? Because the government is worried he’ll be compared to President Xi Jinping. (Maybe they don’t want the world’s worst human rights abusers to look soft.)
Either way, Hollywood is going along with it, prostituting its voice—and America’s influence—in the process.
Of course, most people probably aren’t surprised that Tinseltown would sell its soul to make a few bucks. What they are amazed by is all of the political sanctimony from filmmakers here at home.
This is an industry in partnership with the Chinese government, a notoriously brutal regime, who’s turning around and telling places like Georgia: We’re not doing business with you because you passed pro-life laws.
Unbelievable. Hollywood has no problem climbing down from its moral high horse to sell tickets in China—where people are being viciously tortured and killed—but decides it can’t possibly ally itself with states that protect their own people.
They’d rather be a puppet of the communist state and its nightmarish record on human rights than support a democratic process that saves lives. That’s 100% hypocrisy no matter what language you speak.
If the entertainment industry wants to wrap itself in the Chinese flag, that’s literally its business. Just don’t be shocked when the alliance backfires. Because in a world of bad actors, the People’s Republic is the worst. (The Connection between Hollywood and Red Chinas.)
No one wants to state the truth: the Communist takeover of China on October 1, 1949, was a work of the adversary and its government, although an established fact, is illegitimate. Many careerist politicians in the United States of America are heavily invested in Red China and derive a lot of their campaign donations from investors, bankers and corporate leaders who make their profits on the back of the Chicom slave laborers. No one wants to realize that there is more to life than the mammon of this world, and they are in for a rude awakening when the world that they know comes crashing down around them.
Dr. Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn put matters this way at the height of the Cold War in 1978 as he rebuked Richard Milhous Nixon and Henry Alfred Kissinger for their use of the “China Card” against the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics six years earlier:
I have had occasion already to say that in the 20th century Western democracy has not won any major war without help and protection from a powerful continental ally whose philosophy and ideology it did not question. In World War II against Hitler, instead of winning that war with its own forces, which would certainly have been sufficient, Western democracy grew and cultivated another enemy who would prove worse, as Hitler never had so many resources and so many people, nor did he offer any attractive ideas, or have a large number of supporters in the West as the Soviet Union. At present, some Western voices already have spoken of obtaining protection from a third power against aggression in the next world conflict, if there is one. In this case the shield would be China. But I would not wish such an outcome to any country in the world. First of all, it is again a doomed alliance with Evil; also, it would grant the United States a respite, but when at a later date China with its billion people would turn around armed with American weapons, America itself would fall prey to a genocide similar to the in Cambodia in our days.
And yet -- no weapons, no matter how powerful, can help the West until it overcomes its loss of willpower. In a state of psychological weakness, weapons become a burden for the capitulating side. To defend oneself, one must also be ready to die; there is little such readiness in a society raised in the cult of material well-being. Nothing is left, then, but concessions, attempts to gain time, and betrayal. Thus at the shameful Belgrade conference free Western diplomats in their weakness surrendered the line where enslaved members of Helsinki Watchgroups are sacrificing their lives.
Western thinking has become conservative: the world situation should stay as it is at any cost; there should be no changes. This debilitating dream of a status quo is the symptom of a society which has come to the end of its development. But one must be blind in order not to see that oceans no longer belong to the West, while land under its domination keeps shrinking. The two so-called world wars (they were by far not on a world scale, not yet) have meant internal self-destruction of the small, progressive West which has thus prepared its own end. The next war (which does not have to be an atomic one and I do not believe it will) may well bury Western civilization forever.
Facing such a danger, with such splendid historical values in your past, at such a high level of realization of freedom and of devotion to freedom, how is it possible to lose to such an extent the will to defend oneself?
How has this unfavorable relation of forces come about? How did the West decline from its triumphal march to its present sickness? Have there been fatal turns and losses of direction in its development? It does not seem so. The West kept advancing socially in accordance with its proclaimed intentions, with the help of brilliant technological progress. And all of a sudden it found itself in its present state of weakness.
This means that the mistake must be at the root, at the very basis of human thinking in the past centuries. I refer to the prevailing Western view of the world which was first born during the Renaissance and found its political expression from the period of the Enlightenment. It became the basis for government and social science and could be defined as rationalistic humanism or humanistic autonomy: the proclaimed and enforced autonomy of man from any higher force above him. It could also be called anthropocentricity, with man seen as the center of everything that exists. (Dr. Aleksandr I. Solzhenitysn, "A World Split Apart, June 6, 1978.)
This was very prescient, and while Solzhneitsyn, a Russian Orthodox nationalist who was opposed to the Catholic Church and who supported contraception as a means of “population control,” did not understand the glory of the Middle Ages, which he said had come to an end by repressing man’s material interests in favor of the supernatural, he was very correct in stating that the Renaissance paved the way for the false era of the Enlightenment and thus the triumph of human autonomy above all else. The triumph of “Man,” however, was accomplished principally as a result of the Protestant Revolution, which served as the bridge between the Renaissance and the so-called “Enlightenment,” and it is which this revolution that the conciliar revolutionaries themselves have made their “reconciliation” as they created a false religion that is centered on man, the deification of a created thing, the earth, and the belief that any “religion” or ideology, including Communism, that is devoted to “man” is good.” It is this false belief that was the foundation of Giovanni Battista Enrico Antonio Maria’s Ostpolitik that sold out the Primate of Hungary, the late Josef Cardinal Mindszenty and that Jorge Mario Bergoglio has been using anew to sell out the long suffering Catholics of the underground in Red China to do the bidding of the totalitarian Chicom baby-killers (see, for example, Doubly Betrayed by Jorge and His False Church) and has given the Chicoms a green light to round up faithful Catholics and to destroy their shrines and churches (see an article from January of this year on a website called “Bitter Winter, Persecution of Underground Catholic Goes On.)
All must fall apart when men do not believe in the Catholic Faith. Men must rush into the abyss as they believe in anything or everything rather than submit to the infallible and immutable authority of the Catholic Church, outside of which there is no salvation and without which there can be no true social order.
Nations Must Be Awash in Blood When They Promote Sin Under Cover of the Civil Law
Several readers who used to give donations regularly have ceased because I have criticized President Donald John Trump as he weathers every conceivable and inconceivable attack from the other side of the naturalist synagogue. Well, as noted earlier in this commentary, we put not our trust in princes, and when the princes of naturalism support the promotion of sin, which is what caused Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to suffer unspeakable horrors during His Passion and Death on the wood of the Holy Cross on Good Friday and that is the cause of all problems in the world.
Truth is what it is, and Donald John Trump’s incessant promotion of sodomy as a legitimate category of human self-identification is evil and serves to increase disorder in the world despite all of his naturalistic-based efforts to assert “American greatness.” One can never make a nation “great” while being indifferent to—if not actually promoting—the surrender of civil law and popular culture to one of the four sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance.
An article published over six months ago, Clothing the World with the Rainbow Flag of Perdition, drew some “incoming” for ascribing to President Trump himself an initiative that had been started by his handpicked Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, Richard Grenell, a practicing sodomite who is “married” to another man, to decriminalize sodomy in those nations where this detestable sin is still punishable by the civil authorities. However, as was the case when I was accused obliquely by a resist-while-recognize writer of being guilty of “rash judgment” in February of 2008 when Walter “Cardinal” Kasper wrote to a Rabbi David Cohen to assure him that “Pope Benedict XVI’s” revised Good Friday letter did not mean to imply that the Catholic Church had an organized mission to convert the Jews he spoke for Ratzinger himself, which turned out to be the case, “Ric” Grenell’s “initiative” has the full blessing of the man who once proudly displayed a “LGTBQ” flag at a campaign event in 2016:
August 2, 2019 (C-Fam) — The White House confirmed the launch of a global U.S. campaign to promote acceptance of homosexual acts last week after several months of confusion and misinformation surrounding the administration's position on LGBT issues.
"The Trump Administration has launched a global campaign to decriminalize homosexuality and invites all nations to join us!" read a tweet from the White House last week. The tweet was a message of support for the LGBT advocacy of openly gay Richard Grenell, the U.S. Ambassador to Germany.
The tweet confirmed conservative concerns about the Trump administration's position on LGBT issues.
Last year the Friday Fax reported that State Department representatives pressured governments to accept "sexual orientation and gender identity" in international law. Additionally, the U.S. Ambassador to the UN Economic and Social Council made an impassioned plea during the General Assembly for homosexual issues. What's more, the U.S. under President Trump has remained a member of the UN LGBT Core Group of nations that push for homosexual and transgender issues.
When Ambassador Grenell announced a U.S. campaign to "decriminalize homosexuality" in February, a conflict emerged within the administration on how to proceed on LGBT issues.
Speaking to the press, President Trump initially denied knowing about a global campaign to repeal sodomy laws when Ambassador Grenell announced its launch in February. Some in the administration were caught off guard. Others called the campaign a "rogue" initiative by Grenell. For his part, Ambassador Grenell all the while claimed support from the White House and Vice President Mike Pence in television appearances.
Then, for the first time since taking office, President Trump tweeted a message in support of "Pride Month," and in a subsequent tweet confirmed the launch of the global campaign to "decriminalize homosexuality."
But confusion and misinformation about the campaign continued in June, as the State Department directed U.S. embassies not to fly the rainbow flag — a flag that is increasingly a symbol of political oppression for Christians in Western countries. Even so, many U.S. embassies chose to display the flag, including at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations.
The White House's tweet in support of Ambassador Grenell on July 26 shows the Trump administration's commitment to promoting acceptance of homosexual acts internationally. It followed a string of tweets from Ambassador Grenell and the U.S. Embassy to Germany about their participation in the annual Berlin Gay Pride Parade.
Homosexuality is a controversial topic in the UN General Assembly. Over 70 countries outlaw homosexual acts or even the promotion of homosexuality. These governments say that all individuals are entitled to the same human rights protections, including individuals who identify as LGBT, but that homosexual acts are not protected by human rights law.
They may find the Trump administration's campaign inconsistent with President Trump's statements in the General Assembly about respect for sovereignty and family values.
Homosexual acts, like all nonmarital sexual activity, are not protected by internationally agreed human rights law. International law only protects sexual autonomy in the context of the equal right of men and women to marry and found a family. (White Hosue Confirms Trump's LGBT support in multiple pro-sodomite tweets.)
Those looking from consistency from President Donald John Trump ought to stop wasting their time. Trump says one thing at one time and then quite something else on another occasion, and he doesn’t even have the personal self-awareness or the humility to admit that he has contradicted himself. This is not the stuff of true leadership, which has nothing to do with “tweeting” one’s every thought as though one was still without governmental responsibility. Nonetheless, though, Trump told his fellow septuagenarian Lesley Stahl the following in a 60 Minutes interview on Sunday, November 13, 2016:
Lesley Stahl: One of the groups that’s expressing fear are the LGBTQ group. You--
Donald Trump: And yet I mentioned them at the Republican National Convention. And--
Lesley Stahl: You did.
Donald Trump: Everybody said, “That was so great.” I have been, you know, I’ve been-a supporter.
Lesley Stahl: Well, I guess the issue for them is marriage equality. Do you support marriage equality?
Donald Trump: It-- it’s irrelevant because it was already settled. It’s law. It was settled in the Supreme Court. I mean it’s done.
Lesley Stahl: So even if you appoint a judge that--
Donald Trump: It’s done. It-- you have-- these cases have gone to the Supreme Court. They’ve been settled. And, I’m fine with that. (60 Minutes Interview With Donald Trump and Family.)
Please note that Donald John Trump is very sanguine about so-called “marriage equality,” calling himself a “supporter” of the “LGTBQ” agenda. A supporter, something that he indicated very clearly in his acceptance address at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, on Thursday, July 21, 2016:
“49 wonderful Americans were savagely murdered by an Islamic terrorist. This time, the terrorist targeted LGBTQ community – no good and we're going to stop it.
As your President, I will do everything in my power to protect our LGBTQ citizens from the violence and oppression of a hateful foreign ideology – beleive me.”
And as a Republican, it is so nice to hear you cheering for what I just said. Thank you. (Donald John Trump Acceptance Address, Republican National Convention, Cleveland, Ohio July 21, 2016.)
Donald John Trump considers that one can base his identity by his willful decision commit and to persist in the commission of sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance, a a belief that he shares with many of the conciliar revolutionaries, including Jorge Mario Bergoglio, who is otherwise at odds with the new president on almost every other issue.
In this case, the well-meaning writers at Lifesite News want to believe that Trump’s rhetoric about family values is inconsistent with his support of sodomite “marriages” and of sodomy and its perverse vices in general. It is not at all inconsistent as Donald John Trump believes that sodomites can “marry” and thus can constitute a “family.” This is your hero? Puhhlease. Republicans have made their peace with those pesky "social issues." After all, it's all about the money, the money and the money.
Sure, the president is entirely correct when discussing the high crime rate in United States Representative Elijah Cummings’s home district in the City of Baltimore, Maryland. The president, however, does not understand that that high crime rate is the direct result of the planned destruction of the black family by Margaret Sanger and her fellow population-controlling racists and social engineers who desired to make black Americans wards of the civil state to turn them into a reliable voter block in support of Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s New Deal and all subsequent efforts to build upon the permanent Welfare State that enriches no one except the politicians and administrators who administer so-called “anti-poverty” programs. Contraception is itself evil, but this is something that the president, who has used contraception throughout his adult life of licentious promiscuity and serial adultery, is unable to recognize. (For a fuller discussion of the violence that characterizes America’s inner cities, see From Luther to Sanger to Ferguson.)
Contraception is a denial of the Sovereignty of God over the sanctity and fecundity of marriage. As is the case with every sin, contraception is a rebellion against God, the Author of Life, and the contraceptive mentality, let loose with full fury during the “Roaring Twenties” after World War I, led inexorably to the widespread acceptance of the surgical killing of the innocent preborn. The bloodshed of babies has desensitized people of all ages to the binding precepts of the Fifth Commandment, thus inclining so many confused and lost souls to wish violence, if not actually commit it, upon those with whom they disagree or upon whom they “blame” for ills in their own life and/or for problems in society-at-large. This has made everyone a potential target of human beings filled with rage because they do not see the Divine impress in all others and because they do not take seriously these words of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ that He preached in his Sermon on the Mount:
[43] You have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thy enemy. [44] But I say to you, Love your enemies: do good to them that hate you: and pray for them that persecute and calumniate you: [45] That you may be the children of your Father who is in heaven, who maketh his sun to rise upon the good, and bad, and raineth upon the just and the unjust.
[46] For if you love them that love you, what reward shall you have? do not even the publicans this? [47] And if you salute your brethren only, what do you more? do not also the heathens this? [48] Be you therefore perfect, as also your heavenly Father is perfect. (Matthew 5: 43-48.)
Neither Donald John Trump nor his adversaries who truly hate him and his family understand any of this.
Do any of the naturalists of the “left” or the “right” make their morning offering?
Well, perhaps there a few Catholics, such as House Minority Whip Stephen Scalise, who do so.
However, does anyone believe that the first thing Donald John Trump thinks about when he awakens each morning is to take stock of his interior life and to give honor and glory to the Most Blessed Trinity?
No, until the tragedies of the last few days that the monsters of Modernity are using as greater pretexts to curb legitimate human liberties, the president has spent most of his mornings sending out “tweets” that are designed to set the talking heads aflame and thus control the narrative of what his supporters and opponents will spend the rest of the day discussing to no good purpose. As the president is not supernaturally guided, however, he thinks that his own “lights” are sufficient to win the day and to win arguments, but most people in a country this country are guiding by the irrationality of emotionalism, sensationalism and sentimentality. The president is far, far from alone in not being guided the light of the True Faith, and it is because most people are steeped in naturalism and that so many young people have termed inchoately to anarchy, nihilism and socialism that we are verging on the point of the regular use of open violence to create the mythical “better world.” Everything falls apart when men and their nations do not recognize acknowledge Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to be King and when believe that they do whatever they want to do in the name of “freedom” without regard to the binding precepts of the Divine Positive Law and the Natural Law.
The Tragedies of El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio: The Products of Secular, Values-Free Schooling
The horrific tragedies that took place in El Paso, Texas, on Saturday, August 3, 2019, the Feast of the Finding of Saint Stephen the Protomartyr, and less than twelve hours later in Dayton, Ohio, on Sunday, August 4, 2019, the Eighth Sunday after Pentecost and the Commemoration of Saint Dominic, were committed by products of America’s concentration camps and ideological training centers, “public schools,” Patrick Crosius, a self-professed “white nationalist,” and Connor Betts, a socialist who had ties to the so-called antifa movement of violence and hatred (see, for example, Conner Betts may be Antifa's first mass killer.) Despite their differences, however, both of these young men were nihlists who never realized that it was necessary to treat all others as we would treat Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in the very Flesh.
Products of the ideologically-based system of mind control of social programming that is public schools, these two young men, one in prison in El Paso, Texas, and the other killed by the Dayton, Ohio, police, were never taught to know right from wrong in a world where it is legal to kill the innocent preborn and everyone else thereafter if their “quality of life” is deemed by the Aztecs in white coats to be insufficient to continue medical care and even the ordinary care of food and hydration no matter how administered. Both men are dupes of the anti-Incarnational lies of Modernity, and as such permitted themselves to become forces of the adversary to kill innocent people without any qualm of conscience. Men who commit such cold-blooded acts of murder are, more likely than not, possessed by demonic forces that compel them to hate and then to kill. (The video in both instances demonstrates that these two men were guilty of the horrific massacres in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, respectively.)
While supporters of gun control and of open borders will use both tragedies to their full advantage, the truth is that a world that is at war with God and His true Church will see men at war with each other, thereby making no one safe at any time from the ravages of a world gone mad, a world without Christ the King and without any love for His Most Blessed Mother, Our Immaculate Queen.
To be sure, the professional agitators of the false opposite of the naturalist “left” will ignore the dead Connor Betts’s online “footprint” in support of socialism and of violence upon those who oppose it while concentrating on the white nationalism of the imprisoned Patrick Crosius, who deserves the death penalty for his heinous, wanton slaughter of innocent human beings, and the rhetoric of President Donald John Trump. These hypocrites always tend to downplay, if not entirely ignore, the attacks committed by Mohammedans, such as Major Nidan Hassan’s terrorist shooting spree in Fort Hood, Texas, on November 5, 2009 (see Killing In The Name of The Religion of Peace), and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Tsarnaev in the Boston Marathon bombing on April 15, 2013 (see Just Stay in a State Of Sanctifying Grace) during the presidency of Barack Hussein Obama/ Barry Soetoro, and by various black Americans against police all across the nation that can be ascribed in part to the anti-police rhetoric of Obama/Soetoro and his truly despicable pal, Eric Himpton Holder, who served as his Attorney General from 2009 to 2015. Perhaps it is also worthy of note that the professional agitators of the “left” ignore the black on black shootings that take place all throughout the nation, especially in the City of Chicago, Illinois (see Killed, 46 Wounded in Lawdale-Douglas Park Violence). Mind you, this is to say nothing about how the mainslime media downplayed the near-fatal attack on then House Majority Whip Stephen Scalise by a committed leftist, James Hodginkson who hated Republicans and wanted to kill as many as he could (see Overthrow the Social Reign of Christ the King, Live In A World Awash With Hatred and Blood) nor to mention the many celebrities who have openly urged the assassination of President Donald John Trump without a word of rebuke from their fellow “leftists.” It is only the “conservatives” who are filled with “hated.” Such be the madness of this world of false opposites.
Despite his rhetoric, which is sometimes that of a New Yorker who forgets that there is a duty to act as an adult and to pray for the conversion of his critics especially when he is under relentless attack, Donald John Trump bears no blame for what happened in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio. The shooters alone are responsible, noting that they themselves were conditioned to kill by a culture that permits the killing of the innocent preborn and everyone else after birth if “professionals” in white smocks” and lots of degrees and internships believe that they are "brain dead" and thus subject to vivisection and/or if their “quality of life” demands a cessation of health care and the beginning of “palliative care” to end their lives. There can be no peace in a world where men disobey God wantonly and treat each other as objects to be despite and not as fellow redeemed creatures.
To be sure, the professional agitators of the “left” are making full use of this for their political advantage at a time when most men, victims of their own iniquities, believe that there are easy, painless solutions to problems that have their remote cause in Original Sin and their proximate cause in their own Actual Sins. There will be political ramifications in the suburbs and even in the increasingly purple State of Texas where there is a real possibility that the incumbent president could lose next year, which would mean that he would be a one term president (see Texas faces turbulent political moment .) Even typically “conservative” Orange County, California, has more registered Democrats than Republicans, not that it matters for presidential election on a statewide basis but means that there will never be another “conservative” from there elected to the United States House of Representatives ever again (see Orange County, in historic shift, turns blue with more registered Democrats than Republicans.)
Look, how hard is it to realize that we are seeing the long-term effects of demographic and cultural changes that the high priests and priestesses of the false opposites of the “left” have sought to build in public schools and in universities and colleges as well as throughout the entirety of the so-called popular culture. To believe in naturalism and the power thereof is to believe in nothing, which means one has surrendered to the adversary’s desire to cater to the whims of contingent beings who did not create themselves and whose mortal bodies are destined for the corruption of the grave.
A fully empowered “left” whose adherents control all three branches of the Federal government and seek to impeach “conservative” justices of the Supreme Court of the United States of America such as Brett Michael Kavanaugh (see Democrats go after Brett Michael Kanaugh's Bush 43 White House Records) and their majorities in both Houses of the United States Congress will enact legislation to expand the number of seats on the Supreme Court to negate the influence of those “conservative” justices that they cannot impeach and remove from office, thereby reviving President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s infamous court packing scheme eighty-four years after that effort had failed (see Against the Democrats' Court-Packing Scheme.)
Very importantly, a Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer would end the filibuster once and for all, something that Addison Mitchell McConnell should have done himself to repeal ObamaCare and to provide for genuine border security. The “gentleman” from Kentucky, though, does not want to be known as the man who ended a Senate “tradition.” However, Schumer will have no such compunction. Raw majoritarianism will be the rule of the day, and this is going to happen sooner or later, perhaps as early as next year.
What else can be the fate of a nation and a world where baby-killing and sodomy have gained near-universal acceptance and where the elderly and the terminally ill are regularly dispatched by “palliative care” and by their systematic starvation and dehydration?
What else can be the fate of a nation and a world wherein medical "professionals" can create a myth called "brain death" to convince unspecting victims to "donate" their bodily organs and thus be complicit in their own execution by vivisection?
The United States of America must be chastised for its sins. So must a world gone mad with the “rights” and the unbridled “power” of men who give no thought to First and Last Things and thus unprepared for the moment when they will be called to account for their crimes against God and their fellow men at the moment of their Particular Judgment by Christ the King after they die. We are not from a time when the Monsters of the Apocalypse are upon us (for the latest, please see First human-monkey chimera raises concern among scientists. Animal-hybrid embryos are a reality and Embro Experiments take baby steps toward growing human organs livestocks). These embryos come from the stem cells of aborted babies. The monsters of the Apocalypse who play God in this life are going to have to face Him at the moment of death. In the meantime, a very harsh fate and a severe chastisement awaits us all.
Concluding Considerations
The lords of Modernity, enabled by the lords of conciliarism, believe in the "Rights of Man" and that mere man can make the world "better" by naturalistic means without any reference to the Incarnation, Nativity, Hidden Life, Public Ministry, and Passion, Death and Resurrection of the Second Person of the Most Blessed, Christ the King Himself. The lords of Modernity in the world and of Modernism in the counterfeit church of conciliarism are thus as one in rejecting the truth that Catholicism is indeed the one and only foundation of personal and social order.
Catholicism is not a panacea for personal and social order. Each us of is wounded by the vestigial after-effects of Original Sin and and our own Actual Sins. The Middle Ages of Christendom was marked with various episodes of wars among Catholic kingdoms and even against popes themselves,. The fact that individual Catholics fail to cooperate with the graces won for them on the wood of the Holy Cross by the shedding of every single drop of the Most Precious Blood of Christ the King, Our Divine Redeemer, and that flow into our hearts and souls through the loving hands of Our Lady, she who is the Mediatrix of All Graces, is to the discredit of individual Catholics who added to social disorder by means of their sins, not to the discredit of the Faith or any of Its immutable doctrines, including the Social Reign of Christ the King.
Pope Pius XII made this point in his first encyclical letter, Summi Pontificatus, October 10, 1939:
It is true that even when Europe had a cohesion of brotherhood through identical ideals gathered from Christian preaching, she was not free from divisions, convulsions and wars which laid her waste; but perhaps they never felt the intense pessimism of today as to the possibility of settling them, for they had then an effective moral sense of the just and of the unjust, of the lawful and of the unlawful, which, by restraining outbreaks of passion, left the way open to an honorable settlement. In Our days, on the contrary, dissensions come not only from the surge of rebellious passion, but also from a deep spiritual crisis which has overthrown the sound principles of private and public morality. (Pope Pius XII, Summi Pontificatus, October 10, 1939.)
We are to see in each person the very impress of the Divine Redeemer and to treat Him accordingly, rendering unto each person that which is his due. We are to discriminate unjustly (we must discriminate justly in many circumstances of our lives as we choose which merchant to patronize, which person to employ, who to admit to a seat in a college or a professional school, to deny employment or privileges to those steeped in public scandal, etc.) against no one nor must we use the external characteristics of a human being to extend privileges that are undeserving and/or would result in an injustice to someone else.
Human beings are supposed to be bound together by the common bonds of the Catholic Faith, not to break into warring tribes along ethnic or racial or geographic lines, seething with hatred and resentment at those who have "more" (power, money, fame, prestige, accomplishment) than they do. We are to help each other get home to Heaven as members of the Catholic Church who aspire to make reparation to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary for our sins, fulfilling these words of Saint Paul in his Epistle to the Ephesians as we seek to build up each other as members of the Mystical Body of Christ on earth:
[16] From whom the whole body, being compacted and fitly joined together, by what every joint supplieth, according to the operation in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body, unto the edifying of itself in charity. This then I say and testify in the Lord: That henceforward you walk not as also the Gentiles walk in the vanity of their mind, [18] Having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their hearts. [19] Who despairing, have given themselves up to lasciviousness, unto the working of all uncleanness, unto the working of all uncleanness, unto covetousness. [20] But you have not so learned Christ;
[21] If so be that you have heard him, and have been taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus: [22] To put off, according to former conversation, the old man, who is corrupted according to the desire of error. [23] And be renewed in the spirit of your mind: [24] And put on the new man, who according to God is created in justice and holiness of truth. [25] Wherefore putting away lying, speak; ye the truth every man with his neighbour; for we are members one of another.
[26] Be angry, and sin not. Let not the sun go down upon your anger. [27] Give not place to the devil. [28] He that stole, let him now steal no more; but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have something to give to him that suffereth need. [29] Let no evil speech proceed from your mouth; but that which is good, to the edification of faith, that it may administer grace to the hearers. [30] And grieve not the holy Spirit of God: whereby you are sealed unto the day of redemption.
[31] Let all bitterness, and anger, and indignation, and clamour, and blasphemy, be put away from you, with all malice. [32] And be ye kind one to another; merciful, forgiving one another, even as God hath forgiven you in Christ. (Ephesians 4: 16-32.)
We are to be bound together by the common bonds of the Catholic Faith. We advocate Christ the King, nothing else. Christ the King, nothing else.
The massacres that have taken place in the past few days and within the past month, dating back to Santino William Legan's Gilroy Garlic Festival shooting on July 28, 2019, are yet more tragic examples of how blood flows so freely today in a world that does not subordinate itself to the Social Reign of Christ the King as It must be exercised by His Holy Catholic Church in all that pertains to the good of souls. We have sunk into an abyss of lawlessness wherein men, having no concept of Who created them, Who redeemed them, or Who sanctifies them, must resort to wanton killing to “solve” the “problems” posed by others who they believe to be “inferior” to themselves.
Writing in his first encyclical letter, Ubi Arcano Dei Consilio, December 23, 1922, Pope Pius XI noted the longstanding hatreds that lingered over four years after the armistice that ended fighting in what is known now as World War I, a needless and unjust war that was about nothing other than nationalism and the protection of spheres of influence of power, and over three years after the Versailles Peace Treaty had been signed on June 28, 1919:
Men today do not act as Christians, as brothers, but as strangers, and even enemies. The sense of man's personal dignity and of the value of human life has been lost in the brutal domination begotten of might and mere superiority in numbers. Many are intent on exploiting their neighbors solely for the purpose of enjoying more fully and on a larger scale the goods of this world. But they err grievously who have turned to the acquisition of material and temporal possessions and are forgetful of eternal and spiritual things, to the possession of which Jesus, Our Redeemer, by means of the Church, His living interpreter, calls mankind.
22. It is in the very nature of material objects that an inordinate desire for them becomes the root of every evil, of every discord, and in particular, of a lowering of the moral sense. On the one hand, things which are naturally base and vile can never give rise to noble aspirations in the human heart which was created by and for God alone and is restless until it finds repose in Him. On the other hand, material goods (and in this they differ greatly from those of the spirit which the more of them we possess the more remain to be acquired) the more they are divided among men the less each one has and, by consequence, what one man has another cannot possibly possess unless it be forcibly taken away from the first. Such being the case, worldly possessions can never satisfy all in equal manner nor give rise to a spirit of universal contentment, but must become perforce a source of division among men and of vexation of spirit, as even the Wise Man Solomon experienced: "Vanity of vanities, and vexation of spirit." (Ecclesiastes i, 2, 14)
23. The same effects which result from these evils among individuals may likewise be expected among nations. "From whence are wars and contentions among you?" asks the Apostle St. James. "Are they not hence from your concupiscences, which war in your members?" (James iv, 1, 2)
24. The inordinate desire for pleasure, concupiscence of the flesh, sows the fatal seeds of division not only among families but likewise among states; the inordinate desire for possessions, concupiscence of the eyes, inevitably turns into class warfare and into social egotism; the inordinate desire to rule or to domineer over others, pride of life, soon becomes mere party or factional rivalries, manifesting itself in constant displays of conflicting ambitions and ending in open rebellion, in the crime of lese majeste, and even in national parricide.
25. These unsuppressed desires, this inordinate love of the things of the world, are precisely the source of all international misunderstandings and rivalries, despite the fact that oftentimes men dare to maintain that acts prompted by such motives are excusable and even justifiable because, forsooth, they were performed for reasons of state or of the public good, or out of love for country. Patriotism -- the stimulus of so many virtues and of so many noble acts of heroism when kept within the bounds of the law of Christ -- becomes merely an occasion, an added incentive to grave injustice when true love of country is debased to the condition of an extreme nationalism, when we forget that all men are our brothers and members of the same great human family, that other nations have an equal right with us both to life and to prosperity, that it is never lawful nor even wise, to dissociate morality from the affairs of practical life, that, in the last analysis, it is "justice which exalteth a nation: but sin maketh nations miserable." (Proverbs xiv, 34)
26. Perhaps the advantages to one's family, city, or nation obtained in some such way as this may well appear to be a wonderful and great victory (this thought has been already expressed by St. Augustine), but in the end it turns out to be a very shallow thing, something rather to inspire us with the most fearful apprehensions of approaching ruin. "It is a happiness which appears beautiful but is brittle as glass. We must ever be on guard lest with horror we see it broken into a thousand pieces at the first touch." (St. Augustine de Civitate Dei, Book iv, Chap. 3)
27. There is over and above the absence of peace and the evils attendant on this absence, another deeper and more profound cause for present-day conditions. This cause was even beginning to show its head before the War and the terrible calamities consequent on that cataclysm should have proven a remedy for them if mankind had only taken the trouble to understand the real meaning of those terrible events. In the Holy Scriptures we read: "They that have forsaken the Lord, shall be consumed." (Isaias i, 28) No less well known are the words of the Divine Teacher, Jesus Christ, Who said: "Without me you can do nothing" (John xv, 5) and again, "He that gathereth not with me, scattereth." (Luke xi, 23)
28. These words of the Holy Bible have been fulfilled and are now at this very moment being fulfilled before our very eyes. Because men have forsaken God and Jesus Christ, they have sunk to the depths of evil. They waste their energies and consume their time and efforts in vain sterile attempts to find a remedy for these ills, but without even being successful in saving what little remains from the existing ruin. It was a quite general desire that both our laws and our governments should exist without recognizing God or Jesus Christ, on the theory that all authority comes from men, not from God. Because of such an assumption, these theorists fell very short of being able to bestow upon law not only those sanctions which it must possess but also that secure basis for the supreme criterion of justice which even a pagan philosopher like Cicero saw clearly could not be derived except from the divine law. (Pope Pius XI, Ubi Arcano Dei Consilio, December 23, 1922.)
That last paragraph, number twenty-eight, says it it all. The gist of the two hundred thirty-seven articles linked at the top of this article can be summarized in the following words written by Pope Pius XI eighty-eight years, three months ago:
They waste their energies and consume their time and efforts in vain sterile attempts to find a remedy for these ills, but without even being successful in saving what little remains from the existing ruin. (Pope Pius XI, Ubi Arcano Dei Consilio, December 23, 1922.)
Alas, hatred and violence must reign supreme in a world that has rebelled against Its loving, merciful King, Christ the King, Whose Most Sacred Heart beats with burning love in the tabernacles of Catholic churches served by true priests who offer the ineffable Sacrifice of Calvary in an unbloody manner in a valid rite of the Catholic Church. The only remedy to help make the rise of such poor, troubled men as ignorant Brenton Harrison Tarrant less possible, noting that there will always be difficulties even in a world governed by true principles because of the vagaries of fallen human nature, is to seek with urgency the conversion of all men to the One, True Faith, outside of which there is no salvation and without which there can be no true social order.
No believing Catholic “hates” other human beings. A believing Catholic hates his own sins and he hates the public promotion of the sins of others, for whose conversion he prays, and it is not to “hate” a sinner who flaunts his sins publicly by seeking his conversion from his life of unrepentant sin.
No believing Catholic “hates” women because he opposes the killing of the very fruit of their wombs in violation of the binding precepts of the Divine Positive Law and the Natural Law.
No believing Catholic “hates” others because of their race, adherence to a false religion, ethnicity, gender, or nationality.
Catholics hate only sin and error, starting with their own sins and errors. He prays for eternal good of all men, which is the salvation of his immortal soul as a member of Christ the King’s Catholic Church that He founded upon the Rock of Peter, the Pope. Hatred and the violence it spawns in its demonic wake are the consequence of the world’s hatred of Christ the King as He has revealed Himself to us exclusively through His true Church and His Sovereignty over men and their nations at all times. It this most fundamental hatred of all that makes possible the irrational violence of the sort committed by Brenton Harrison Tarrant on Friday, March 15, 2019, is fueling the horrific violent attacks of all sorts around the world, including by the faithful adherent of Mohammedanism in The Netherlands who killed three people just today, Monday, March 18, 2019, the Feast of Saint Cyril of Alexandria and the Commemoration of Monday in the Second Weeks of Lent, around the world.
The solution?
The solution is to seek the conversion of all non-Catholics to the true Faith and then to see the Divine impress in all other human beings, treating them as we would true Our Lord Himself in the very Flesh.
Such a conversion, though, is deemed unnecessary and is actually opposed by the lords of the counterfeit church of conciliariasm, and thus it is that the world will be consigned to the madness of the abyss, consumed with the pursuit of material pleasures and self-interest to exclusion of all else, and that it will be stained by public crime as prophesied, respectively, by Pope Gregory XVI, Mirari Vos, August 15, 1832, Pope Pius IX, Quanta Cura, December 8, 1864,and Pope Leo XIII,Tametsi Futura Prospicientibus, November 1, 1900:
This shameful font of indifferentism gives rise to that absurd and erroneous proposition which claims that liberty of conscience must be maintained for everyone. It spreads ruin in sacred and civil affairs, though some repeat over and over again with the greatest impudence that some advantage accrues to religion from it. “But the death of the soul is worse than freedom of error,” as Augustine was wont to say. When all restraints are removed by which men are kept on the narrow path of truth, their nature, which is already inclined to evil, propels them to ruin. Then truly “the bottomless pit” is open from which John saw smoke ascending which obscured the sun, and out of which locusts flew forth to devastate the earth. Thence comes transformation of minds, corruption of youths, contempt of sacred things and holy laws — in other words, a pestilence more deadly to the state than any other. Experience shows, even from earliest times, that cities renowned for wealth, dominion, and glory perished as a result of this single evil, namely immoderate freedom of opinion, license of free speech, and desire for novelty. (Pope Gregory XVI, Mirari Vos, August 15, 1832.)
For you well know, venerable brethren, that at this time men are found not a few who, applying to civil society the impious and absurd principle of “naturalism,” as they call it, dare to teach that “the best constitution of public society and (also) civil progress altogether require that human society be conducted and governed without regard being had to religion any more than if it did not exist; or, at least, without any distinction being made between the true religion and false ones.” And, against the doctrine of Scripture, of the Church, and of the Holy Fathers, they do not hesitate to assert that “that is the best condition of civil society, in which no duty is recognized, as attached to the civil power, of restraining by enacted penalties, offenders against the Catholic religion, except so far as public peace may require.” From which totally false idea of social government they do not fear to foster that erroneous opinion, most fatal in its effects on the Catholic Church and the salvation of souls, called by Our Predecessor, Gregory XVI, an “insanity,” viz., that “liberty of conscience and worship is each man’s personal right, which ought to be legally proclaimed and asserted in every rightly constituted society; and that a right resides in the citizens to an absolute liberty, which should be restrained by no authority whether ecclesiastical or civil, whereby they may be able openly and publicly to manifest and declare any of their ideas whatever, either by word of mouth, by the press, or in any other way.” But, while they rashly affirm this, they do not think and consider that they are preaching “liberty of perdition;” and that “if human arguments are always allowed free room for discussion, there will never be wanting men who will dare to resist truth, and to trust in the flowing speech of human wisdom; whereas we know, from the very teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ, how carefully Christian faith and wisdom should avoid this most injurious babbling.”
And, since where religion has been removed from civil society, and the doctrine and authority of divine revelation repudiated, the genuine notion itself of justice and human right is darkened and lost, and the place of true justice and legitimate right is supplied by material force, thence it appears why it is that some, utterly neglecting and disregarding the surest principles of sound reason, dare to proclaim that “the people’s will, manifested by what is called public opinion or in some other way, constitutes a supreme law, free from all divine and human control; and that in the political order accomplished facts, from the very circumstance that they are accomplished, have the force of right.” But who, does not see and clearly perceive that human society, when set loose from the bonds of religion and true justice, can have, in truth, no other end than the purpose of obtaining and amassing wealth, and that (society under such circumstances) follows no other law in its actions, except the unchastened desire of ministering to its own pleasure and interests?” (Pope Pius IX, Quanta Cura, December 8, 1864.)
God alone is Life. All other beings partake of life, but are not life. Christ, from all eternity and by His very nature, is "the Life," just as He is the Truth, because He is God of God. From Him, as from its most sacred source, all life pervades and ever will pervade creation. Whatever is, is by Him; whatever lives, lives by Him. For by the Word "all things were made; and without Him was made nothing that was made." This is true of the natural life; but, as We have sufficiently indicated above, we have a much higher and better life, won for us by Christ's mercy, that is to say, "the life of grace," whose happy consummation is "the life of glory," to which all our thoughts and actions ought to be directed. The whole object of Christian doctrine and morality is that "we being dead to sin, should live to justice" (I Peter ii., 24)-that is, to virtue and holiness. In this consists the moral life, with the certain hope of a happy eternity. This justice, in order to be advantageous to salvation, is nourished by Christian faith. "The just man liveth by faith" (Galatians iii., II). "Without faith it is impossible to please God" (Hebrews xi., 6). Consequently Jesus Christ, the creator and preserver of faith, also preserves and nourishes our moral life. This He does chiefly by the ministry of His Church. To Her, in His wise and merciful counsel, He has entrusted certain agencies which engender the supernatural life, protect it, and revive it if it should fail. This generative and conservative power of the virtues that make for salvation is therefore lost, whenever morality is dissociated from divine faith. A system of morality based exclusively on human reason robs man of his highest dignity and lowers him from the supernatural to the merely natural life. Not but that man is able by the right use of reason to know and to obey certain principles of the natural law. But though he should know them all and keep them inviolate through life-and even this is impossible without the aid of the grace of our Redeemer-still it is vain for anyone without faith to promise himself eternal salvation. "If anyone abide not in Me, he shall be cast forth as a branch, and shall wither, and they shall gather him up and cast him into the fire, and he burneth" john xv., 6). "He that believeth not shall be condemned" (Mark xvi., 16). We have but too much evidence of the value and result of a morality divorced from divine faith. How is it that, in spite of all the zeal for the welfare of the masses, nations are in such straits and even distress, and that the evil is daily on the increase? We are told that society is quite able to help itself; that it can flourish without the assistance of Christianity, and attain its end by its own unaided efforts. Public administrators prefer a purely secular system of government. All traces of the religion of our forefathers are daily disappearing from political life and administration. What blindness! Once the idea of the authority of God as the Judge of right and wrong is forgotten, law must necessarily lose its primary authority and justice must perish: and these are the two most powerful and most necessary bonds of society. Similarly, once the hope and expectation of eternal happiness is taken away, temporal goods will be greedily sought after. Every man will strive to secure the largest share for himself. Hence arise envy, jealousy, hatred. The consequences are conspiracy, anarchy, nihilism. There is neither peace abroad nor security at home. Public life is stained with crime.
So great is this struggle of the passions and so serious the dangers involved, that we must either anticipate ultimate ruin or seek for an efficient remedy. It is of course both right and necessary to punish malefactors, to educate the masses, and by legislation to prevent crime in every possible way: but all this is by no means sufficient. The salvation of the nations must be looked for higher. A power greater than human must be called in to teach men's hearts, awaken in them the sense of duty, and make them better. This is the power which once before saved the world from destruction when groaning under much more terrible evils. Once remove all impediments and allow the Christian spirit to revive and grow strong in a nation, and that nation will be healed. The strife between the classes and the masses will die away; mutual rights will be respected. If Christ be listened to, both rich and poor will do their duty. The former will realise that they must observe justice and charity, the latter self-restraint and moderation, if both are to be saved. Domestic life will be firmly established ( by the salutary fear of God as the Lawgiver. In the same way the precepts of the natural law, which dictates respect for lawful authority and obedience to the laws, will exercise their influence over the people. Seditions and conspiracies will cease. Wherever Christianity rules over all without let or hindrance there the order established by Divine Providence is preserved, and both security and prosperity are the happy result. The common welfare, then, urgently demands a return to Him from whom we should never have gone astray; to Him who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and this on the part not only of individuals but of society as a whole. We must restore Christ to this His own rightful possession. All elements of the national life must be made to drink in the Life which proceedeth from Him- legislation, political institutions, education, marriage and family life, capital and labour. Everyone must see that the very growth of civilisation which is so ardently desired depends greatly upon this, since it is fed and grows not so much by material wealth and prosperity, as by the spiritual qualities of morality and virtue. (Pope Leo XIII, Tametsi Futura Prospicientibus, November 1, 1900.)
The world in which we live, good readers, is based upon one anti-Incarnational, naturalistic, religiously indifferentist and Pelagian lie after another. Bloodshed must become a common feature of life in a chaotic, nihilistic world where there is such an abundance of sin unfettered by qualms of rightly formed consciences and sanctioned by the civil law.
Our Lady herself, explaining the events of the Transfiguration of her Divine Son, Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, explained the effects of sin upon men and their nations in no uncertain terms as she related to Venerable Mary of Agreda and as found in The New English Edition of The Mystical City of God:
393. Having celebrated the Transfiguration the Blessed Mother was transported back to her house in Nazareth. Her divine Son descended the mountain and immediately came to visit Her in order to take final leave of his parental province and set out for Jerusalem; there, on the following Pasch, which was to be his last upon earth, He would enter upon his Passion. Having spent only a few days at Nazareth, He departed with his Mother, his Apostles and disciples, and some of the holy women, traveling about through Galilee and Samaria before entering Judea and Jerusalem. The Evangelist St. Luke writes of this journey when he says the Lord steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem (Lk. 9:51), for He journeyed to Jerusalem with a joyous countenance and full of desire to enter upon his sufferings in order to sacrifice Himself for the human race according to his own most ardent and generous desire. He was not to return to Galilee where He had wrought so many miracles. Knowing this at his departure from Nazareth He glorified his eternal Father, and in the name of his sacred humanity He gave thanks for having in that house and neighborhood received the human form and existence which He was now to deliver over to suffering and death. Of the prayers of Christ our Lord on this occasion I shall record as far as I can the following one:
393. “My eternal Father, in compliance with thy will I gladly hasten to satisfy thy justice by suffering even unto death; thus shall I reconcile to Thee all the children of Adam (Rom. 5:10), paying their debts and opening to them the gates of heaven which have been closed against them. I shall seek those who have turned away and lost themselves (Lk. 19:10), so they may be restored by the force of my love. I shall find and gather together the lost of the house of Jacob (Is. 56:8), raise up the fallen, enrich the poor, refresh the thirsty, cast down the haughty, and exalt the humble. I desire to vanquish hell and enhance the glories of the triumph over Lucifer and the vices which he has sown into the world (I Jn. 3:8). I desire to raise up the standard of the Cross, beneath which virtue all those who put themselves under its protection are to fight their battles (Mt. 16:24). I desire to satiate my Heart with insults and affronts (Lam. 3:30) which are so estimable in thy eyes. I desire to humiliate Myself even unto death (Philip. 2:8) at the hands of my enemies, so our chosen friends may be consoled in their tribulations and may be honored by high rewards whenever they choose to humiliate themselves in suffering the same persecutions. O beloved Cross! When shalt thou receive Me in thy arms? O sweet ignominies and affronts! When shalt thou bear Me on to overcome death through the sufferings of my entirely guiltless flesh (Heb. 2:14)? Ye pains, affronts, ignominies, scourges, thorns, torments and death, come to Me, who desires to embrace thee; yield thyselves to my welcome, since I well understand thy value. If the world abhors thee, I long for thee; if the world in its ignorance despises thee, I, who am truth and wisdom love and embrace thee. Come then to Me, for in welcoming thee as man, I exalt thee as the true God and am ready to efface the touch of sin from thee and from all who shall embrace thee. Come to Me ye pains, and disappoint Me not. Heed not my omnipotence, for I shall permit thee to exert thy full force upon my humanity. Thou shalt not be rejected and abhorred by Me as thou art by mortals. Now shall be banished the deceitful and lying enthrallment of the children of Adam, who serve vanity and lying (Ps. 4:3), judging as unhappy the poor, afflicted and affronted of this world; for if they see their true God, their Creator, Master and Father, suffering horrible insults, scourges, and the ignominious torment and destitution of the Cross, they shall understand their error and esteem it as an honor to follow their crucified God.”
394. These are some of the sentiments which I have been made to perceive in the Heart of the Master of life, our Savior. The sufferings of his death on the Cross show (as my words cannot express) how great was the love with which He sought and underwent them. Notwithstanding all this, our hearts are weighed down by sin and entangled in vanities (Ib.). Though we have life and truth before our eyes, we are nevertheless carried away by our pride and repelled by humility, ravished by what is pleasurable and full of abhorrence for what is painful. O lamentable error! To labor much in order to avoid laboring a little, to entirely exhaust ourselves merely in order to avoid a small inconvenience, to foolishly resolve on suffering eternal shame and confusion just in order to evade a slight dishonor, or in order not to give up one hour of vain and apparent honor! Who that claims the use of his reason can say he loves himself by following such a course? No mortal enemy of his can ever do him a greater harm than he does himself by doing what is displeasing to God. We hold those as our enemies who flatter and entertain us while they have treason in their hearts, and we would call those foolish who would allow themselves to be betrayed by an insignificant pleasure and delight. If we judge correctly in this, as we really do, what shall we say of the judgment of those who are devotees of the world? Who has intoxicated them? Who has thus deprived them of their reason? O how great is the number of fools (Eccles. 1:15)!
395. Most holy Mary alone of all the children of Adam adjusted her whole life according to the will and conduct of her Son, without departing in the least from the closest imitation of his life and fulfillment of his doctrine. She was most prudent, knowledgeable, and full of wisdom, who could make up for our ignorance and foolishness and gain for us eternal truth in the midst of our darkness. This happened also on the occasion of which I have spoken, for the heavenly Lady saw in the mirror of the most holy soul of her Son all the actions and affections wrought in his interior. Since this was also the guide of her actions, conforming Herself to Him She prayed in conjunction with Him his prayer to the eternal Father, and in her interior said: “Most high God and Father of mercies, I confess thy infinite and immutable essence. Eternally do I praise and exalt Thee, for in this place, after Thou didst create me, Thou didst deign to glorify the power of thy arm by raising me to the dignity of Mother of thy Onlybegotten, and in the plenitude of thy Spirit and ancient mercies Thou hast magnified Thyself in me, thy humble slave, and because thy and my Onlybegotten in the flesh, which He assumed from my substance, has condescended to retain me in his most delightful company for thirty-three years, permitting me to enjoy his graces, his teachings, and his guidance for the enlightenment of the soul of thy handmaid. Today, my Lord and eternal Father, I leave my country and joyfully follow my Son and Master in order to be present at the sacrifice of his life and human existence for mankind. There is no sorrow like unto my sorrow (Lam. 1:12) at seeing the Lamb, who taketh away the sins of the world, delivered over to bloodthirsty wolves (Jer. 11:19); at seeing Him subjected to suffering, torments and death, who is the living image and figure of thy substance (Heb. 1:3), who is engendered of Thee from all eternity and equal to Thee through all the ages; at seeing Him, whom I have given life in my womb, subjected to insults and the death of the cross; and at seeing the beauty of that countenance, which is the joy of my eyes and the delight of all the angels, obscured by filth and wounds (Is. 53:2). O would it were possible that I receive the pains and sorrows which await Him, and that I could suffer death in order to save his life! Accept, heavenly Father, the sacrifice of my sorrowing affection, which I offer in union with Him, so thy holy will and pleasure may be fulfilled. O how quickly flee the days and hours which shall end in the night of my sorrow and bitterness! It shall be a fortunate day for the children of men, but a night of affliction for my sorrow-laden heart, so soon to be deprived of its illuminating Sun. O children of Adam, so deeply lost in error and so forgetful of yourselves! Awaken at last from your heavy slumber and recognize the weight of your sins in the devastation they are about to cause in your God and Creator! See their dire effects in my mortal sorrow and the bitterness of my soul! Begin at last to take heed of the damage wrought by sin!” (The New English Edition of The Mystical City of God, Book Six: The Transfixion, Chapter VI.)
Sin causes all disorder in the world.
Let us pray for the repose of the souls of the recent massacres in Gilroy, California, El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, and the consolation of their families as we pray for the conversion of all men everywhere to the true Catholic Church, outside of which there is no salvation and without which there can be no true social order.
Our only hope is to be found by clinging tight to the Cross of the Divine Redeemer and by relying upon the intercessory powers of His Most Blessed Mother, she who is the Mediatrix of All Graces, as we pray the Sorrowful Mysteries of her Most Holy Rosary during this month of August, the month of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and beg her to help us to die to sin and disordered self-love to be better instruments of effecting the Triumph of her Immaculate Heart in whatever way we can.
It is time to pray a Rosary now, is it not?
