Hate to Say I Told You So: This is Where the “Lesser of Two Evils” Must Lead

This is going to be a very short commentary, well, at least by my standards, that is.

One of the points I have been making dating back to my classroom lectures in the 1970s and 1980s is that the “lesser of two evils” mantra must always lead to the so-called “lesser evil” becoming almost entirely indistinguishable from the “greater evil.” Along the way, the inexorable compromise with increasingly higher doses of evil in the name of “stopping” the “greater evil” winds up institutionalizing most of the evils on an incremental, if at times imperceptible, basis that the “greater evil” has promoted without apology or compromise.

The process of compromise, accommodation, and equivocation is such that “strategic retreats” on various issues come to be seen as moral “necessities" even though the adversary is advancing more and more of his evil agenda every time his unwitting allies in the camp of supporting the “lesser evil” take a step or two backward while he gets to move little by little to the point where the supposedly “lesser evil” agrees with much, although, certainly not all, of the what the “greater evil” has been advocating ad infinitum, ad nauseam.

Although the points that I have made repeatedly in the past year about Donald John Trump’s crusade of equivocation on the daily slaughter of innocent preborn children by chemical points in such commentaries as Memorandum to Donald John Trump: The Inviolability of Innocent Human Life is Non-NegotiableYour "Pro-Life" President is At It AgainAnother Memorandum to Clueless Don from Queens: Catholics Do Not Compromise on TruthPontius Trump Washes His Hands of the Blood of Innocent Babies, "The Mutable Will of the People", The Prophet Osee Reminds Us: "For there is no truth, and there is no mercy, and there is no knowledge of God in the land" (Osee 4:1), Truth Can Never Be Sacrificed on the Altar of Political Expediency, and Baby Butchery is Not A "Small Issue" to Christ the King do not need to be repeated here, the purpose of this commentary is to demonstrate that former President Donald John Trump’s surrender to the “reproductive rights of children” is complete. He has reverted to the celebrity New Yorker liberal who boasted of his support for baby-butchery for decades until around 2011:

(LifeSiteNews) — Donald Trump declared on Truth Social that his hopeful next presidential administration “will be great for women and their reproductive rights” in what appears to be one of his strongest affirmations of abortion support to date.

The term “reproductive rights” is used overwhelmingly to refer to the so-called “right” to kill preborn children through abortion and could hypothetically also refer to a “right” to in vitro fertilization (IVF), which in practice kills even more human beings than abortion because it disposes the excess of embryonic babies it creates.

Some conservatives have denounced, explicitly or implicitly, the former president’s remarks as an apparent act of homage to the abortion lobby.

“There is no ‘reproductive right’ to kill a child,” pro-life activist Lila Rose remarked on X.

Alex Stone, the nephew of American political operative Roger Stone, has urged Trump, “Do not go down this route of supporting abortion.. They are a death cult, they hate God, they hate America, and they are pro-killing babies.”

“If you go down this route, you will alienate so many voters,” Stone said.

Philosophy professor Edward Feser regarded the remarks as indicative of a “uniparty.”

Trump’s concessions to the deadly pro-abortion movement have become increasingly clear over the past two years. He recently stated definitively that if returns to the White House, he will not use existing federal law to block the mail distribution of abortion pills. He has also signaled a desire to close the door on banning abortion nationally in favor of relegating future abortion battles to the states while expressing indifference to what policies states ultimately adopt except to occasionally chide pro-life actions he deems too “harsh.”

Last month, at its 2024 nominating convention, the GOP adopted a dramatically shortened platform drafted and promoted by Trump surrogates, which among other changes cut the party’s longstanding support for a constitutional amendment to ban abortion and a federal law extending equal protection to preborn babies in favor of leaving abortion policy to individual states; it also endorsed birth control (many common methods of which function as abortifacients) and embryo-destructive in vitro fertilization.

In June, Trump reiterated his opposition to a federal abortion ban and once more stressed that any state-level bans should, in his view, contain exceptions for rape, incest, and medical emergencies. (Trump: ‘My Administration will be great for women and their reproductive rights’.)

There is no such thing as "reproductive freedom," which is simply a euphemism to justify an outright rebellion against Holy Purity and the fulfillment of the ends for which Our Lord instituted Holy Matrimony for the bringing forth as many (or as few) children as He sees fit to bestow upon parents so that their children can give Him honor and glory in this life and be prepared to die in a state of Sanctifying Grace as members of His Holy Catholic Church and thus enjoy the citizenship of Heaven in the glory of His Beatific Vision for all eternity.

It gets worse:

Republican vice presidential hopeful Sen. JD Vance indicated that former President Donald Trump would vote any federal legislation to ban abortion nationwide — yet another illustration of how the 45th president is seeking to distance himself from hardliners in his party on the wedge issue.

Since April, Trump, 78, has been adamant that he’d defer to the states on the controversial procedure, but Democrats have continued to accuse him of plotting a national ban after he took credit for the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.

When asked by NBC’s Kristen Welker whether a President Trump would veto a federal abortion ban, Vance responded:

“I can absolutely commit that, Kristen. Donald Trump has been as clear about that as possible,” Vance (R-Ohio), 40, told NBC’s “Meet the Press” in an interview airing Sunday.

Donald Trump wants to end this culture war over this particular topic,” he went on. “We want the federal government to focus on these big economic and immigration questions. Let the states figure out their own abortion policy.”

A deluge of polls have indicated that abortion is one of Trump’s most pronounced vulnerabilities heading into the Nov. 5 presidential election and the former president has been keen on pacifying that weakness.

During the Democratic National Convention last week, Vice President Kamala Harris alleged that Trump “and his allies” would “ban medication abortion and enact a nationwide abortion ban with or without Congress.”

Not long after Harris’ jab, Trump raised eyebrows on Truth Social, declaring that “My Administration will be great for women and their reproductive rights.”

Trump finds himself in a bind on abortion, wary of being too off-putting toward independent voters, while simultaneously not trying to alienate his base, which is full of anti-abortion voters.

Democrats have highlighted Trump’s past remarks on abortion such as boasting that “I was able to kill Roe v. Wade.” The former president has often tried to fixate on late-term abortions, something that polls generally indicate is less popular with the public.

“I think he’s been very clear he would not support it,” Vance responded when asked about Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-SC) push for a federal ban. Graham has pushed for a 15-week ban.

“I think he would. He said that explicitly that he would,” Vance added when pressed whether Trump would veto such legislation.

Trump had privately floated different middle-ground approaches to abortion before coming out in April and calling for the states to take charge. While opposing federal intervention, he also came out against a near-total ban in Arizona on the procedure, which was later rolled back.

Back in 2018, Trump urged Congress to pass a 20-week ban on the procedure.

Vance has a lengthy history of advocating against abortion, but since joining the Trump ticket, he has refrained from letting there be daylight between him and the 45th president.

“There’s something comparable between abortion and slavery, and that while the people who obviously suffer the most are those subjected to it, I think it has this morally distorting effect on the entire society,” Vance previously said back in a 2022 interview.

Other Republicans, such as former Vice President Mike Pence and a slew of anti-abortion groups have found themselves frustrated with Trump’s evolved stance on abortion.  (Donald Trump would veto federal ban on abortion: JD Vance.)

What more is there left to say?

“Donald Trump wants to the end the culture war on this particular issue.”

This particular issue?

The slaughter of innocent babies has been reduced to “this particular issue.” As the Calvinist named Chuck Baldwin inquired recently, Is Trump Trying To Lose the Election? (Also see 10 ways the Trump campaign is failing.)

What more is there left to say?

Donald John Trump has kicked pro-life voters to the curb good while telling them, in effect, “What are you gonna do? Vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz? I won’t put you in jail. They will. You have to vote for me. You have no other choice.”

Yes, this is where the “lesser of two evils” has gotten the pro-life chumps who kept going along the demands made upon them by careerist Republicans before they finally believed they had a real champion in 2016 in the person of Donald John Trump, who ditched the babies and them when the issue of baby-butchery became an electoral liability in his very short-sighted and unprincipled views of things.

As I noted when running against then United States Senator Alfonse M. D’Amato in the New York State Right to Life senatorial primary twenty-six years ago, why should pro-abortion voters vote for an equivocator when they have the real deal, which was United States Representative Charles Schumer then and is Kamala Harris today?

Equivocators lose, if not this life, then certainly for all eternity.

Am I saying that I am indifferent to the great harm that would be done by a “President” Kamala Harris and a “Vice President” Timothy James Walz, who is a direct Chicom stooge and Manchurian candidate (see Tim Walz defended communism in China to his students: ‘Everyone is the same and everyone sharesTim Walz's China Obsession Is Worse Than You Thinkand Peter Schweizer: Chinese Communist Party Has "Groomed" Tim Walz; "Big Help With A Little Bad-Mouth")?

Of  course not, especially considering that it could very well be the case that my own liberty might be at risk.

What do I mean?

Well, permit me to remind the readers of this site that I have not been some kind of idle spectator or, to the call to mind an oblique reference to me by a former colleague in 2008, “couch potato.” No, this “couch potato” ran for office three times, participated actively in a presidential campaign, used my college classrooms as a forum to speak to Catholic truth no matter the consequences, and has been targeted by the Southern Poverty Law Center for the last dozen years as the leader of a “hate group” whose name wound up on that infamous memorandum of the Federal Bureau of Intimidation’s Richmond, Virginia, field office that came to public light early last year (see Believing Catholics Pose No Threat to a Just Social Order).

To paraphrase the fictional Edward L. Norton, “I don’t want to spend the rest of my life in jail, Ralph" (The Honeymooners, "A Matter of Life and Death," Saturday, October 29, 1955.)

To do so for the Holy Faith, though, would be a great privilege if it comes to that.

Thus, I am not at all indifferent to the great harm that would be done by a Harris-Walz administration. Far from it.

However, I remind the readers of this site that truth matters, and a sense of “liberty” untethered from truth, is nothing other than enslavement to the devil, who delights greatly when men who know better deny the truth in order to curry win the favor of this world. I have said this before, and I will say it again and again until I die: the only standard of human liberty of the Cross of the Divine Redeemer, Christ the King, as It is held high by His Holy Catholic Church.

No, while there might be a moral imperative to vote if all the qualifications outlined by Pope Pius XII in a 1947 allocution are met, including whether there are genuine distinctions among the candidates, there is never any moral imperative to vote for the “lesser of two evils,” especially since we have seen that this false concept of civic duty has emboldened unprincipled men to champion most of the same evils championed in an unapologetic, uncompromising manner by the so-called “greater evils,” up to and including the promotion of another of the four sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance, sodomy:

(LifeSiteNews) — Former First Lady Melania Trump was paid nearly a quarter-million dollars to appear at a fundraiser hosted by the pro-LGBT Log Cabin Republicans in April.

According to multiple outletsfinancial disclosures reveal Melania was given $237,500 for speaking at the group’s event, which happened to be taking place at her husband’s lavish Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida.

This was not the first time Melania or her husband have promoted the Log Cabin Republicans.

In June, the former president phoned into one of their meetings in Las Vegas, prompting outcry from social conservatives. The group posted on its X account that so-called “LGBT conservatives are united behind you, Mr. President.”

In July, Melania welcomed them to her private residence in Trump Tower.

Longtime Trump adviser Ric Grenell, a homosexual, announced on X that the event raked in $1.4 million. It is not apparent whether Melania was compensated for her appearance.

Donald Trump’s drastic shift to the left on social issues has infuriated many pro-life and pro-family conservatives, who have been one of his most loyal voting blocs.

In a recent op-ed for LifeSiteNews, D.C. Bureau Chief Doug Mainwaring argued that Trump’s repeated disavowals of the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 is a “stunning display of betrayal against social conservatives.”

While Trump has vowed to cut funding from schools that push gender ideology, pledged to keep males out of girls’ sports, and promised to ban sex change surgeries for minors without parental consent, he has catered to so-called “gay conservatives” on multiple occasions.

In 2016, before assuming office, Trump told 60 Minutes that he’s “fine” with homosexual “marriage.”

“It’s irrelevant because it was already settled. It’s law. It was settled in the Supreme Court. I mean, it’s done,” he told reporter Leslie Stahl.

This year, the GOP dropped its opposition to a federal abortion ban and homosexual “marriage” in its party platform, which won praise from the Log Cabin Republicans.

In 2020, Grenell, who served as Trump’s ambassador to Germany and acting director of National Intelligence, called him “the most pro-gay president in American history.” To which Trump replied, “My great honor!!!”

Lastly, in 2022, Trump welcomed the Log Cabin Republicans for a party at Mar-a-Lago after Joe Biden signed a same-sex “marriage” bill into law in December of that year.

Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, the former Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, described the event as a “large scandal” that indicates “the deep state has contaminated the entire political elite without distinction, even involving Donald Trump, who up until now seemed to be a source of hope for the future of the United States.”

Trump is set to square off against Democratic nominee Kamala Harris in a presidential debate set for September 10 on ABC News. (Melania Trump was paid nearly $250k to appear at Log Cabin Republican fundraiser, docs reveal.)

Are we to become so inured to the “lesser evil” as to just shrug our shoulders as sodomy and its related perversities become more and more mainstreamed into the fabric of social life, including into the highest precincts of the organized crime family of the naturalist “right,” in the belief that there is some moral imperative for us to do so?

It is also true that Donald John Trump  enabled the plandemicists, including Anthony Fauci and William Gates, at every turn without for a moment realizing that he was enabling his own enemies who would use the so-called “pandemic” and the deliberate inflation numbers of deaths that were falsely attributed to the CCP/Wuhan/Red Chinese/Covid-19/Coronavirus (cases involving gunshot wounds, motor vehicle accidents, deaths caused by heart attacks or other natural causes, the death of one man who fell down a flight of stairs, suicides, etc.) to implement fraudulent election “reforms” that were in violation of the laws and even the constitutions of the “swing” states (especially Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin to effect the bogus “election” of the corrupt, venal, decadent, cognitively-challenged leech on the public dole named Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., as President of the United States of America on November 3, 2020 (see How Zuckerberg Took Over 2020 And Why States Must Clean Up Their Act). Trump also persists in the delusion that his warped “Operation Warp Speed” saved up to one hundred million lives even though the harm done by these poisons continues to kill and maim untold thousands upon thousands of victims, many of whom have “died suddenly” even in their teens.

Can we not concede that a system based on Judeo-Masonic, anti-Incarnational, religious indifferentist and semi-Pelagian naturalist principles can do little else but to institutionalize evil as the direct consequence of its denial of Christ the King and His Holy Church?

The men who control the world today are in the grip of the adversary. They are will filled with vanity and deceit, a deceit which leads the gullible who are looking for salvation in all the wrong places, to follow other human beings who are just as blind to things divine as they are, all with the result that they fall into a pit of deception and error here below as a foretaste of the fiery pit into which they fall when they die if they do not quit their sins, confess them to a true priest, and receive those wonderful words of absolution that pass from the lips of a true priest acting in persona Christi.

Those of us who are blessed to know and to adhere to the truth by means of the graces we receive in the holy sacraments cannot permit ourselves to be duped into wasting our time believing that men who are ignorant of divine things can contribute one little bit to the “betterment” of a nation or the world.

It is really as simple as this: anyone who does not know, love, and trust the August Queen of Heaven, Our Lady, and meditate upon the mysteries of our salvation contained within her Most Holy Rosary is prone to follow anything and everything except her Divine Son as He has revealed Himself to us exclusively through His Catholic Church.

We need to focus on the simple fact that time is short, and that eternity has no end. If we desire to go home to Heaven, we cannot permit ourselves to be deceived by vain who keep trying to convince us that we can advance spiritually in our own lives and/or socially in the world by tolerating this or that evil by convincing ourselves that the evil we tolerate, whether personally or socially, is not as “great” as some other evil or set of evils.

The retort that I have always given to such wrong-headed thinking is severalfold:

First, the toleration of a “lesser evil” in a world that has embraced all evil without distinction winds up institutionalizing so-called “lesser evils” to such an extent that very few people see any “necessity” about rolling back those evils as to do so would require people to reform their lives, something that those steeped in sin do not want to do absent the grace of a conversion away from evil and a return or conversion to the true Faith. Entire constituency groups consisting of people who base their lives upon “lesser evils” arise that become impossible for career politicians to offend lest they lose “votes.”

Second, the acceptance of institutionalized “lesser evils” predisposes one to accept the incremental toleration of higher and higher doses of so-called “lesser evils” over time to the point that it becomes an exercise in pure sophism to make any kind of distinction about the evils that have been advanced and institutionalized. The adversary cleverly uses the boogeymen of “greater evils” to scare even well-meaning Catholics into the acceptance of higher and higher doses of “lesser evils.”

Third, in this regard, therefore, it is important to remember that the devil without his tail is more dangerous than the devil with his tail, which is why the prince of darkness and the master of lies must raise up supposedly “good naturalists” who are committed to some evils to do false battles with supposedly “bad naturalists” who are uncompromising in their commitment to the advance of one vile more evil under cover of law without any qualification or exception.

Fourth, the proclivity of even traditional Catholics to look for and then latch onto “secular saviors” blinds them to any consideration of the harm that their “secular savior” wants to advance during campaigns and then does indeed advance after his election.

Although some who have written on the "lesser evil" as being the morally principled and “good” position to take by citing Saint Thomas Aquinas's teaching on the subject, it is nevertheless true that a decision to accept a “lesser evil” time and time again accustoms those trapped in the farce of naturalism to accept increasingly higher doses of evil as morally necessary to tolerate in order to avoid being overtaken by the supposedly “greater evil.” Pope Leo XIII explained where this logic takes a state over the course of time:

Yet, with the discernment of a true mother, the Church weighs the great burden of human weakness, and well knows the course down which the minds and actions of men are in this our age being borne. For this reason, while not conceding any right to anything save what is true and honest, she does not forbid public authority to tolerate what is at variance with truth and justice, for the sake of avoiding some greater evil, or of obtaining or preserving some greater good. God Himself in His providence, though infinitely good and powerful, permits evil to exist in the world, partly that greater good may not be impeded, and partly that greater evil may not ensue. In the government of States it is not forbidden to imitate the Ruler of the world; and, as the authority of man is powerless to prevent every evil, it has (as St. Augustine says) to overlook and leave unpunished many things which are punished, and rightly, by Divine Providence. But if, in such circumstances, for the sake of the common good (and this is the only legitimate reason), human law may or even should tolerate evil, it may not and should not approve or desire evil for its own sake; for evil of itself, being a privation of good, is opposed to the common welfare which every legislator is bound to desire and defend to the best of his ability. In this, human law must endeavor to imitate God, who, as St. Thomas teaches, in allowing evil to exist in the world, "neither wills evil to be done, nor wills it not to be done, but wills only to permit it to be done; and this is good.'' This saying of the Angelic Doctor contains briefly the whole doctrine of the permission of evil.

But, to judge aright, we must acknowledge that, the more a State is driven to tolerate evil, the further is it from perfection; and that the tolerance of evil which is dictated by political prudence should be strictly confined to the limits which its justifying cause, the public welfare, requires. Wherefore, if such tolerance would be injurious to the public welfare, and entail greater evils on the State, it would not be lawful; for in such case the motive of good is wanting. And although in the extraordinary condition of these times the Church usually acquiesces in certain modern liberties, not because she prefers them in themselves, but because she judges it expedient to permit them, she would in happier times exercise her own liberty; and, by persuasion, exhortation, and entreaty would endeavor, as she is bound, to fulfill the duty assigned to her by God of providing for the eternal salvation of mankind. One thing, however, remains always true -- that the liberty which is claimed for all to do all things is not, as We have often said, of itself desirable, inasmuch as it is contrary to reason that error and truth should have equal rights.

And as to tolerance, it is surprising how far removed from the equity and prudence of the Church are those who profess what is called liberalism. For, in allowing that boundless license of which We have spoken, they exceed all limits, and end at last by making no apparent distinction between truth and error, honesty and dishonesty. And because the Church, the pillar and ground of truth, and the unerring teacher of morals, is forced utterly to reprobate and condemn tolerance of such an abandoned and criminal character, they calumniate her as being wanting in patience and gentleness, and thus fail to see that, in so doing, they impute to her as a fault what is in reality a matter for commendation. But, in spite of all this show of tolerance, it very often happens that, while they profess themselves ready to lavish liberty on all in the greatest profusion, they are utterly intolerant toward the Catholic Church, by refusing to allow her the liberty of being herself free. (Pope Leo XIII, Libertas Praestantissimum, June 20, 1888.)

Whether someone or something represents a “lesser” evil is a judgment of the practical order. Catholics in the United States of America have become so used to the mantra of “voting for the lesser of two evils” that they invoke this mantra without understanding the proper distinctions and qualifications that need to be made when arriving at a judgment of the practical order. As Bishop Geraldo de Proenca Sigaud, the Bishop of Jacarezinho, Parma, Brazil from January 1, 1947, and the Archbishop of Diamantina, Minas Gerais, Brazil, from December 20, 1960, to September 10, 1980, noted:

"Among the many ways the Revolution permeates surreptitiously into the stronghold of the Church, the first door is called the 'lesser evil.' This tactic may be compared with the famous Trojan Horse. Catholic doctrine teaches that if we cannot avoid some evil we may choose to permit some lesser evil in order to avoid the greater evil on condition we do not directly commit evil ourselves.

"[HOWEVER]...

"(1) The liberals think a lesser evil is a small evil that is not worth fighting against;

"(2) Very many Catholics and even priests are of the opinion that conflict harms the Church as if She were not by Her very nature militant. This is why they allow evil to occupy without combating it under the pretext of prudence, charity, and apostolic diplomacy.

"(3) THEY DO NOT REALIZE THAT EVIL--EVEN A LESSER EVIL-IS ALWAYS AN EVIL, and that is why they do not seek to limit or suppress it. They live daily with the "lesser evil" and thus they forget the greater good as something horrible. For example, the separation of Church and State and that divorce be allowed among Catholics." (Bishop Geraldo de Proenca Sigaud, as cited by Hugh Akins in Synagogue Rising.)

These have be very prophetic words as even most traditional Catholics incant the “don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the merely good” even though the supposed “merely good” is an evil that has disguised itself as something better than that which is overtly ugly and repulsive. This is precisely how so-called “lesser evils” become institutionalized and pave the way for increasingly higher and higher doses of “lesser evils” to the extent that we are awash with an overwhelming social acceptance of moral crimes that no one could have imagined possible seventy years ago. Compromise with evil results in the triumph of evil to the exclusion of any mention of the Social Reign of Christ the King and His true Church.

As the Prophet Osee wrote:

Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel, for the Lord shall enter into judgment with the inhabitants of the land: for there is no truth, and there is no mercy, and there is no knowledge of God in the land.  2 Cursing, and lying, and killing, and theft, and adultery have overflowed, and blood hath touched blood.  3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth in it shall languish with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of the air: yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be gathered together. (Osee 4: 1-3.)

Pope Saint Pius X reminded us that the way to Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ can be found only through His true Church, not through some nebulous “Judeo-Christian” values that numerous writers, including the now retired Patrick Joseph Buchanan, who knows that the Catholic Church is the true Church but who continues to write in politically ecumenical terms with a respect for Protestantism, which is not a true religion and is the fountainhead of the anti-Incarnational civil state of Modernity, and everyone who writes for Lifesite News, where great respect is shown for Protestant “pastors” who have no mission and no power from the true God of Divine Revelation to do anything to advance the sanctification and salvation of souls. Catholicism is the sole basis of social order, nothing else, and Pope Saint Pius X noted this very clearly:

Now the way to reach Christ is not hard to find: it is the Church. Rightly does Chrysostom inculcate: "The Church is thy hope, the Church is thy salvation, the Church is thy refuge." ("Hom. de capto Euthropio," n. 6.) It was for this that Christ founded it, gaining it at the price of His blood, and made it the depositary of His doctrine and His laws, bestowing upon it at the same time an inexhaustible treasury of graces for the sanctification and salvation of men.

You see, then, Venerable Brethren, the duty that has been imposed alike upon Us and upon you of bringing back to the discipline of the Church human society, now estranged from the wisdom of Christ; the Church will then subject it to Christ, and Christ to God. If We, through the goodness of God Himself, bring this task to a happy issue, We shall be rejoiced to see evil giving place to good, and hear, for our gladness, "a loud voice from heaven saying: Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God and the power of his Christ." (Apoc. xii., 10.) But if our desire to obtain this is to be fulfilled, we must use every means and exert all our energy to bring about the utter disappearance of the enormous and detestable wickedness, so characteristic of our time -- the substitution of man for God; this done, it remains to restore to their ancient place of honor the most holy laws and counsels of the gospel; to proclaim aloud the truths taught by the Church, and her teachings on the sanctity of marriage, on the education and discipline of youth, on the possession and use of property, the duties that men owe to those who rule the State; and lastly to restore equilibrium between the different classes of society according to Christian precept and custom. This is what We, in submitting Ourselves to the manifestations of the Divine will, purpose to aim at during Our Pontificate, and We will use all our industry to attain it. It is for you, Venerable Brethren, to second Our efforts by your holiness, knowledge and experience and above all by your zeal for the glory of God, with no other aim than that Christ may be formed in all. (Pope Saint Pius X, E Supremi, October 4, 1903.)

In other words, there is no salvation in politics. We are living in a time of profound chastisement with all the forces of the civil state and that of the counterfeit church of conciliarism arrayed against us.

So what?

The only thing that must matter to us to remain faithful until we die and to be ready to suffer all, including actual martyrdom. Nothing we lose in this world, including our very lives at the hands of the evil men and women and mutants who make up the fascistic administration of the corrupt, physically decrepit, morally sick, and intellectually dishonest statist named Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., that is intent on crushing all opposition, matters if we persevere until the end in a state of Sanctifying Grace as members of the true Church, the Catholic Church, outside of which there is no salvation and without which there can be no true social order. Without Our Lady’s graces, though, we will be lost, which is why we had better be quite intent on praying her Most Holy Rosary daily.

In all the difficulties of these times, though, we must remember that we have nothing to fear as the graces won for us by the shedding of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and that flow into our hearts and souls through the loving hands of Our Lady, she who is the Mediatrix of All Graces, will be ever sufficient for us to carry whatever crosses in whatever circumstances of whatever time God has from all eternity appointed them to live and to work out their salvation in fear and in trembling.

The following prayers, found in The Raccolta, should fill us with peace in the midst of the difficult times in which we live:

Lord Jesus Christ, who didst say unto Thine Apostles: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I gve unto you,” regard not our sins but Thy merits, and grant unto Thy servants, that they whom the Almighty Father hath created and governeth, and whom Thou hast ordained unto everlasting life, may love one another with all their hearts for Thy sake, and may be made one in spirit and rejoice in Thy perpetual peace. Lord Jesus Christ, concerning whom the Prophet hath said: “And all kings of the earth shall adore Him, all nations shall serve Him,” extend thy reign upon the whole human race. Send upon all men the light of Thy faith, deliver them from all the snares and bonds of passion, and direct them to heavenly things; and graciously grant, that the states and nations may be united by means of Thine immaculate Bride, Holy Church, and through the intercession of the blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace, may serve Thee in all humility; and that all tongues and peoples may form one great choir, to praise Thee both day and night, to bless Thee, to exalt Thee, O King of the nations and the Ruler thereof, O Prince of prince immortal King of ages. Amen. (The Raccolta: A Manual of Indulgences, Prayers and Devotions Enriched with Indulgences, approved by Pope Pius XII, May 30, 1951, and published in English by Benziger Brothers, New York, 1957, Number 703, pp. 558-559.)

O God, who art the author and lover of peace, in knowledge of whom is eternal life, whose service is a kingly state; defend us Thy humble servants from all assaults of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in Thy defense, may not fear the power of any adversaries. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen. (The Raccolta: A Manual of Indulgences, Prayers and Devotions Enriched with Indulgences, approved by Pope Pius XII, May 30, 1951, and published in English by Benziger Brothers, New York, 1957, Number 703, pp. 559-560.)

O merciful Queen of the Rosary of Pompeii, thou, the Seat of Wisdom, hast established a throne of fresh mercy in the land that once was pagan, in order to draw all nations to salvation by means of the chaplet of thy mystic roses: remember thy divine Son hath left us this saying: “Other sheep I have that are not of this fold; them also must I bring, and they shall hear  voice; and there shall be one fold, and one Shepherd.” Remember likewise that on Calvary thou didst become our Co-Redemptrix, by virtue of the crucifixion of Thy heart cooperating with Thy Crucified Son in the salvation of the world; and from that day thou didst become the Restorer of the human race, the Refuge of sinners, and the Mother of all mankind. Behold, dear Mother, how man souls are lost every hour! Behold, how countless millions of those who dwell in India, in China, and in barbarous regions do not yet know our Lord Jesus Christ! See, too, how many others are indeed Christians and are nevertheless far from the bosom of Mother Church which is Catholic, Apostolic and Roman! O Mary, powerful mediator, advocate of the human race, full of love for us who are mortal, the life of our hearts, blessed Virgin of the Rosary of Pompeii, where thou dost nothing else save dispense heaven’s favors upon the afflicted, grant that a ray of thy heavenly light may shine forth to enlighten those many blinded understanding and to enkindle so cold hearts. Intercede with thy Son and obtain grace for all the pagans, Jews, heretics and schismatics in the whole world to receive supernatural light and to enter with joy into the bosom of the true Church. Hear the confident prayer of the Supreme Pontiff [of Holy Church in these times of papal vacancy], that all nations may be joined in the one faith, may know and love Jesus Christ, the blessed fruit of thy womb, who liveth and reigneth with the Father and the Holy Spirit world without end. And then all men shall love thee also, thou who art the salvation of the world, arbiter and dispenser of the treasures of God, and Queen of mercy in the valley of Pompeii. And glorifying thee, the Queen of Victories, who by means of thy Rosary, dost trample upon all heresies, they shall acknowledge that thou givest life to all the nations, since there must be a fulfillment of the prophecy in the Gospel: “All generations shall call me blessed.” (The Raccolta: A Manual of Indulgences, Prayers and Devotions Enriched with Indulgences, approved by Pope Pius XII, May 30, 1951, and published in English by Benziger Brothers, New York, 1957, Number 628, pp. 501-503.)

There is a whole lot of good, solid Catholic theology in the prayer just above.

Our Lady is the Co-Redemptrix of the human race.

Our Lady is the Seat of Wisdom.

Our Lady is our Refuge of Sinners.

Our Lady is the Treasurer of all the graces won for us by her Divine Son on the wood of the Holy Cross.

Our Lady is also our Immaculate Queen to whose Immaculate Heart has been entrusted the cause of world peace and the restoration of all things in her Divine Son, Christ the King, something that Pope Pius XII noted in his prayer consecrating the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, she who is the Queen of Heaven and Earth:

Queen of the most holy Rosary, help of Christians, refuge of the human race, victorious in all the battles of God, we prostrate ourselves in supplication before thy throne, in the sure hope of obtaining mercy and of receiving grace and timely aid in our present calamities, not through any merits of our own on which we do not rely, but only through the immense goodness of thy mother’s Heart. In Thee and in thy Immaculate Heart, at this grave hour of human history, do we put our trust; to thee we consecrate ourselves, not only with all of Holy Church, which is the mystical body of thy Son Jesus, and which is suffering in so many of her members, being persecuted, but also with the whole world, torn by discords, agitated with the hatred, the victim of its own iniquities. Be thou moved by the sight of such material and moral degradation, such sorrows, such anguish, so many tormented souls in danger of eternal loss! Do thou, O Mother of mercy, obtain for us from God a Christ-like reconciliation of the nations, as well as those graces which can convert the souls of men in an instant, those graces which prepare the way and make certain the long desired coming of peace on earth. O Queen of peace, pray for us, and grant unto the world in the truth, the justice, and the charity of Christ. Above all, give us peace in our hearts, so that the kingdom of God, may spread it the tranquility of order. Accord thy protection to unbelievers and to all those who lie in the shadow of death; cause the Sun of Truth to rise upon them; may they enabled to join with us in repeating before the Saviour of the world: “Glory to God in the highest, and peace to men of good will.” Give peace to the nations that are separated us from error or discord, and in a special manner to those peoples who profess a singular devotion toward thee; bring them back to Christ’s one fold, under the one true Shepherd. Obtain full freedom for the holy Church of God; defend her from her enemies; check the ever-increasing torrent of immorality; arouse in the faithful a practical love of purity, a practical Christian life, and an apostolic zeal, so that the number of those who serve God may increase in merit and in number. Finally, even as the Church and all mankind were once consecrated to the Heart of thy Son Jesus, because He was for all those who put their hope in Him an inexhaustible source of victory and salvation, so in like manner do we consecrate ourselves forever to thee also and to thy Immaculate Heart, Of Mother us and Queen of the world; may thy love and patronage hasten the day when the kingdom of God shall be victorious and all the nations, at peace with God and with one another, shall call thee blessed and intone with thee, from the rising of the sun to its going down, the everlasting “Magnificat” of glory, of love, of gratitude to the Heart of Jesus in which we alone can find truth, life, and peace. (Pope Pius XII, Rescript from the Secretariat of State, November 17, 1942, document exhibited, November 19, 1942, The Raccolta: A Manual of Indulgences, Prayers and Devotions Enriched with Indulgences, approved by Pope Pius XII, May 30, 1951, and published in English by Benziger Brothers, New York, 1957, pp. 345-347.)

The restoration of all things in Christ, a restoration that will include China, of course, will occur as a result of the fulfillment of her Fatima Message after the restoration of a true pope on the Throne of Saint Peter, which will occur miraculously at a time of God’s choosing. All we have to do is persist in our prayers as we maintain a joy-filled hope that we might, by virtue of the graces Our Lady sends to us, be able to plant a few seeds for the restoration of all things in Christ the King as a result of the Triumph of her own Immaculate Heart.

It will be then that men after the heart of our dear Saint Louis IX, King of France, will rule and the likes of wicked men who either support or make endless compromises with evil will be nothing but forgotten figures consigned to the dustbin of history.
