It Has Come This: Viva Chick-Fil-A, Not Viva Cristo Rey!

by Thomas A. Droleskey

It has come to this nearly four hundred ninety-five years after Father Martin Luther, O.S.A., posted his ninety-five theses on the door of Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany, on October 31, 1517.

It has come to this two hundred ninety-five years after the founding of the first Freemasonic lodge in England.

It has come to this two hundred twenty-five years after the ratification of the Constitution of the United States of America.

It has come to this ninety-five years after Our Lady appeared to Jacinta and Francisco Marto and their cousin Lucia dos Santos in the Cova da Iria near Fatima, Portugal, in 1917, the very year of the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia and the anticlerical constitution of Venustiano Carranza in Mexico.

It has come to this nearly fifty-years after the opening of the "Second" Vatican Council on October 11, 1962, the Feast of the Divine Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

It has come to this.

Thousands upon thousands of well-meaning people, thinking that they are "doing something" to stem the tide of evil that has been let loose in the world by the Protestant Revolution and the subsequent, inevitable rise and triumph of naturalism as the secular substitute for the true Faith, have rallied around the Chick-Fil-A fast food restaurant chain to register their support of the chain's president and chief operating officer, Daniel Truett Cathy, after he came under fire from the usual suspects because he had expressed with personal conviction in opposition to the absurdity of the concept of "marriage" as applied to those of the same gender. It is no longer Viva Cristo Rey! It is now "Viva Chick-Fil-A."

Such a sad turn of events would have appeared to be unthinkable in the 1950s even to those who were engaged in unnatural sins against the Sixth and Ninth Commandments. Such a sad turn of events, however, was, unbeknownst to most people, including most Catholics, inevitable once the bulwark provided by the Catholic Church and her true sacraments in the Roman Rite was eclipsed by the Modernist falsehoods of the "Second" Vatican Council and the sacramentally barren liturgical rites it engendered. Robbed of the supernatural helps to oppose and resist the Protestant and Judeo-Masonic forces of naturalism at work in the world, Catholics have plunged headlong into the world with such abandon that the lion's share of them equate "Christian charity" with the toleration of every evil imaginable, being intolerant about only one thing: the immutably binding precepts of the Divine Positive Law and the Natural Law as taught by Holy Mother Church from time immemorial.

This state of affairs has come to pass because there has been an almost complete loss of the sensus Catholicus among most of the Catholics who are attached to the structures of the counterfeit church of conciliarism, most of whom accept sloganeering and appeals to sentimentality quite willingly as worthy substitutes for a humble and docile submission to the binding precepts of the Divine Positive Law and the Natural Law as they have been entrusted by Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to His Catholic Church for their eternal safekeeping and infallible explication. We have millions upon millions of little "popes" and "popessas" running around thinking that they are "good Catholics" who have "compassion" for those who simply have a "different lifestyle" than they do.

The loss of the sensus Catholicus has been hastened also by the fact that a culture friendly to unrepentant acts of perversion and an entirely phony category of human self-identification based upon an attraction to and/or persistence in such perverted acts has been fostered by many, although far from all, clergy in the "hierarchy" and the presbyterate of the counterfeit church of conciliarism. It is this "homophile" culture that makes statements such as those made recently by Daniel Truett Cathy of Chick-Fil-A seem to be "abnormal" and in opposition to "love" and "tolerance" and" compassion.

It is useful once again, therefore, to cite the following passage from Pope Gregory XVI's Mirari Vos, August 15, 1832, to demonstrate what must come to pass in a nation where the Catholic Faith does not inform public policy and social life in all that pertains to the good of souls:

This shameful font of indifferentism gives rise to that absurd and erroneous proposition which claims that liberty of conscience must be maintained for everyone. It spreads ruin in sacred and civil affairs, though some repeat over and over again with the greatest impudence that some advantage accrues to religion from it. "But the death of the soul is worse than freedom of error," as Augustine was wont to say. When all restraints are removed by which men are kept on the narrow path of truth, their nature, which is already inclined to evil, propels them to ruin. Then truly "the bottomless pit" is open from which John saw smoke ascending which obscured the sun, and out of which locusts flew forth to devastate the earth. Thence comes transformation of minds, corruption of youths, contempt of sacred things and holy laws -- in other words, a pestilence more deadly to the state than any other. Experience shows, even from earliest times, that cities renowned for wealth, dominion, and glory perished as a result of this single evil, namely immoderate freedom of opinion, license of free speech, and desire for novelty. (Pope Gregory XVI, Mirari Vos, August 15, 1832.)

There is no constitutional, legal, secular, naturalistic, non-denominational, inter-denominational or electoral way out of this bottomless pit. Our Lady has shown us the way out: the fulfillment of her Fatima Message. Who is listening? Who cares?

The devil is having quite a field day with all of this. This field day of the adversary has to do not only with the promotion of the sin of Sodom under cover of the civil law and throughout the nooks and crannies of what passes for "popular culture" in our barbaric land that butchers around four thousand innocent preborn babies a day by surgical means and thousands more by means of chemical abortifacients. No, this field day of the adversary also has to do with the fact that he has raised up Protestants such as Daniel Truett Cathy and the man whose radio program was responsible for "Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day" on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, the Feast of Saint Peter's Chains and the Commemoration of the Holy Machabees, Michael Dale Huckabee, to do what the men who believe themselves to be Catholic bishops should be doing: opposing the advances of what Mrs. Randy Engel terms as the "homosexualist collective."

The apostate non-bishops of the counterfeit church of conciliarism, many of whom are themselves of the lavender persuasion and have done much to fostered a "gay friendly" environment in formerly Catholic parishes, schools, religious education programs, colleges, universities and seminaries, keep their mouths shut and refuse, at least for the most part, to commend someone such as Daniel Truett Cathy while inviting him to become a member of the true Faith. This leads at least some Catholics who are ill-informed about the true state of the Church in this time of apostasy and betrayal but who have nevertheless maintained a correct sense of horror about personal sin and its promotion in public law and popular culture to look to Protestants such as Messrs. Cathy and Huckabee for "leadership" on matters of Faith and Morals, thus convincing them that those outside of what they think in the Catholic Church are more reliable "leaders" than those who present themselves, albeit falsely, as "bishops" and "priests," many of whom are scared silly by the thought of any kind of criticism from the "gay community."

Indeed, it was the 1997 Southern Baptist Convention in Dallas, Texas, that called on July 18, 1997, for a boycott of the Walt Disney Company (theme parks, movies, books, stores, merchandise, etc.) because of its support for the homosexualist agenda (see Southern Baptist Convention Calls for Boycott of Disney), revoking the boycott eight years later, that is, on June 22, 2005, when delegates had been convinced that the boycott had "worked" and that "changes" had been made, a judgment that some of us find most erroneous (see SBC votes overwhelmingly to end boycott of Disney).

It is, however, nevertheless the case that the Southern Baptists did something that the "bishops" of the so-called United States Conference of "Catholic 'Bishops'" would have never dreamt of doing, calling for a boycott of the Walt Disney Company because of its involvement in promoting "rights" for those engaged in sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance, thereby convincing some Catholics in the conciliar structures that the Protestants are better "voices" in behalf of moral truth than what they think is the Catholic Church. This is quite insidious. This is quite diabolical.

This is all particularly diabolical when two of the chief civic officials seeking to exclude Chick-Fil-A franchises from opening in their areas, City of Boston, Massachusetts, Mayor Thomas Menino, and City of Chicago Alderman Proco Joe Moreno, are pro-abortion Catholics who maintain their "good standing" in the structures of the counterfeit church of conciliarism despite their supporting grave evils under cover of the civil law that do tremendous harm to souls and thus to the common temporal good of the nation, which must be subordinated to the pursuit of man's Last End, the possession of the glory of the Beatific Vision of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost for all eternity in Heaven. (Please feel free to e-mail this commentary to Menino and Moreno, noting in a particular way the material reprised yet again in the appendix below.)

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino's intolerance of Chick-Fil-A in support of the evil of sodomy has gone uncorrected by the conciliar "archbishop" of Boston, Sean "Cardinal" O'Malley (see No Crime Is Worse Than Deicide, Another Victim of Americanism; Behold The Free Rein Given to Error; Behold The Free Rein Given to Error; Unfortunate Enough to Be A Baby; Unfortunate Enough to Be A Baby; Beacon of Social Justice?; Spotlight On The Ordinary; What's Good For Teddy Is Good For Benny; Sean O'Malley: Coward and Hypocrite: More Rationalizations and Distortions), while Chicago Alderman Proco Joe Moreno and the foul-mouthed Talmudist who is Mayor of Chicago, Illinois, Rahm Emmanuel have been rebuked pretty strongly by Francis "Cardinal" George, who, of course, has no understanding that the bigotry he denounces is the direct result of the Protestant Revolution and the rise of Judeo-Masonry and concilairism's "official reconciliation" with the principles of "the era inaugurated in 1789" (see “Reflection on ‘Chicago Values’")

In this instance, however, it was Daniel Truett Cathy, who did not expect to unleash the firestorm that followed his recent remarks about the true nature of marriage, who was the "leader." Francis "Cardinal" George reacted to the fascistic comments of Rahm Emmanuel and Proco Joe Moreno. "Cardinal" George refuses to recognize that it is the very "religious liberty" exalted by the American "bishops" that has made possible the situation in which we find ourselves. "Cardinal" George does not realize that the triumph of the state over Christ the King is the logical end result of the anti-Incarnational, religiously indifferentist, naturalistic and semi-Pelagian foundation of the modern civil state, including, of course, the United States of America.

Yes, you see, much like the man to whom he answers, Francis "Cardinal" George believes in the "American way," not in the Social Reign of Christ the King and of Mary our Immaculate Queen. He is a child of the very errors of Modernity whose end results he seeks to oppose (see Union of Americanists). In such a world as that supported by "Cardinal" George, therefore, it must come to this: "Viva Chick Fil-A, not Viva Cristo Rey!

Moreover, it was a year before the Southern Baptist Convention voted to boycott the Walt Disney Company that its delegates "voted," if you can believe a "vote" had to be taken on the matter, to seek the "conversion" of the Jews to their version of "Christianity" (see Baptists Vote To Convert Jews, July 18, 1996.) Once again, you see, people who are in no way in any kind of communion with the one and only true Church that Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ founded upon the Rock of Peter, the Pope, demonstrated more of a sense of "commitment" to the mission that He gave to Saint Peter and the other Apostles to seek the conversion of all non-believers than that of the apostates in the counterfeit church of conciliarism, who recoil from any effort to seek with urgency the unconditional conversion of anyone to its ranks save for Catholics who adhere to His immutable truths without any concessions whatsoever to their falsehoods.

Saint Stephen the Protomartyr, whose body was found on this day and then placed next to his fellow deacon, Saint Lawrence in the Basilica of San Lorenzo in Rome, did not need to have a "vote" taken to seek the conversion of the Jews to the true Faith. Saint Stephen the Protomartyr did not subscribe the conciliar view that the Jews have an "enduring covenant" with God that has not been superseded by the New and Eternal Covenant that Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ instituted at the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday and then ratified by the shedding of every single drop of His Most Precious Blood on the wood of the Holy Cross on Good Friday. He spoke forthrightly to the Jews, who were so enraged with anger that they stoned him to death with consent of the fire-breathing hater of Catholicism, Saul of Tarsus, whose conversion would be won by the prayers of Saint Stephen the Protomartyr from Heaven:

Then the high priest said: Are these things so?

Who said: Ye men, brethren and fathers, hear. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charan. And said to him: Go forth out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.

Then he went out of the land of the Chaldeans, and dwelt in Charan. And from thence, after his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein you now dwell. And he gave him no inheritance in it; no, not the pace of a foot: but he promised to give it him in possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child. And God said to him: That his seed should sojourn to a strange country, and that they should bring them under bondage, and treat them evil four hundred years. And the nation which they shall serve will I judge, said the Lord; and after these things they shall go out, and shall serve me in this place.

And he gave him the covenant of circumcision, and so he begot Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begot Jacob; and Jacob the twelve patriarchs. And the patriarchs, through envy, sold Joseph into Egypt; and God was with him. And delivered him out of all his tribulations: and he gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharao, the king of Egypt; and he appointed him governor over Egypt, and over all his house.

Now there came a famine upon all Egypt and Chanaan, and great tribulation; and our fathers found no food. But when Jacob had heard that there was corn in Egypt, he sent our fathers first: and at the second time, Joseph was known by his brethren, and his kindred was made known to Pharao. And Joseph sending, called thither Jacob, his father, and all his kindred, seventy-five souls. So Jacob went down into Egypt; and he died, and our fathers.

And they were translated into Sichem, and were laid in the sepulchre, that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Hemor, the son of Sichem. And when the time of the promise drew near, which God had promise to Abraham, the people increased, and were multiplied in Egypt, till another king arose in Egypt, who knew not Joseph.

This same dealing craftily with our race, afflicted our fathers, that they should expose their children, to the end they might not be kept alive. At the same time was Moses born, and he was acceptable to God: who was nourished three months in his father's house. And when he was exposed, Pharao's daughter took him up, and nourished him for her own son. And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians; and he was mighty in his words and in his deeds. And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren, the children of Israel.

And when he had seen one of them suffer wrong, he defended him; and striking the Egyptian, he avenged him who suffered the injury. And he thought that his brethren understood that God by his hand would save them; but they understood it not. And the day following, he shewed himself to them when they were at strike; and would have reconciled them in peace, saying: Men, ye are brethren; why hurt you one another?

But he that did the injury to his neighbor thrust him away, saying: Who hath appointed thee prince and judge over us? What wilt thou kill me, as thou didst yesterday kill the Egyptian? And Moses fled upon this word, and was a stranger in the land of Madian, where he begot two sons.

And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the desert of mount Sina, an angel in a flame of fire in a bush. And Moses seeing it, wondered at the sight. And as he drew near to view it, the voice of the Lord came unto him, saying:

I am the God of thy fathers; the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses being terrified, darest not behold. And the Lord said to him: Loose the shoes from thy feet, for the place wherein thou standest, is holy ground. Seeing I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, am am come down to deliver them. And now come, and I will send the into Egypt.

This Moses, whom they refused, saying: Who hath appointed thee prince and judge? him God sent to be prince and redeemer by the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush. He brought them out, doing wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the desert forty years.

This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel: A prophet shall God raise up to you of your own brethren, as myself: him shall you hear. This is he that was in the church in the wilderness, with the angel who spoke to him on mount Sina, and with our fathers; who received the words of life to give unto us, Whom our fathers would not obey; but thrust him away, and in their hearts turned back into Egypt, saying unto Aaron: Make us gods to go before us. For as for this Moses, who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we know not what is become of him. And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifices to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands. And God turned, and gave them up to serve the host of heaven, as it is written in the books of the prophets: Did you offer victims and sacrifices to me for forty years, in the desert, O house of Israel? And you took unto you the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god. Rempham, figures which you made to adore them. And I will carry you away beyond Babylon.

The tabernacle of this testimony was with our fathers in the desert, as God ordained for them, speaking to Moses, that he should make it according to the form which he had seen. Which also our fathers receiving, brought in with Jesus, into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drove out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David Who found grace before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.

But Solomon built him a house. yet the most High dwelleth not in houses made by hands, as the prophet saith: Heaven is my throne, and the earth my footstool. What house will you build me? saith the Lord; or what is the place of my resting? Hath not my hand made all these things?

You stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do you also. Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? And they have slain them who foretold of the coming of the Just One; of whom you have been now the betrayers and murderers: Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.

Now hearing these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed with their teeth at him.

But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looking up steadfastly to heaven, saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God. and he said: Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

And they crying out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and with one accord ran violently upon him. And casting him forth without the city, they stoned him; and the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man, whose name was Saul. And they stoned Stephen, invoking and saying: Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

And falling on his knees, he cried with a loud voice, saying: Lord Jesus, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep in the Lord. And Saul was consenting to his death. (Acts 7:1-59)

As I have noted repeatedly on this site, the counterfeit church of conciliarism forbids the sort of "proselytism" undertaken by Saint Stephen in the discourse recorded in the Acts of the Apostles. Unlike the conciliarists, Saint Stephen was not interested in learning what the Jews believed. He knew what the Jews believed, and he knew that they had to convert to be saved. He was willing to suffer a brutal death by stoning rather than to be silent about the necessity of proclaiming the Holy Name at all times and in all places without any exception whatsoever. Saint Stephen, therefore, teaches us about the solemn obligation that we have to seek the conversion of all others to the true Faith, and to do so with boldness, understanding that authentic Charity seeks the good of others, the ultimate expression of which is the salvation of their immortal souls by means of belonging to the true Church that the God-Man Himself created upon the Rock of Peter, the Pope.

That some evangelical and/or fundamentalist Protestants demonstrate more of a commitment to an attenuated understanding of the Gospel of the Divine Redeemer than do those who believe themselves to be Successors of the Apostles is certainly one of the greatest triumphs of the devil in this era of apostasy and betrayal.

The triumphs of the devil in this era of apostasy and betrayal are only temporary, however. In the end, of course, Our Lady's Immaculate Heart will triumph.

We must redouble our own efforts in prayer and sacrifice and penance and fasting and mortification to plant the seeds as the consecrated slaves of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary for the restoration of Christendom, praying as many Rosaries each day as our states-in-life permit in reparation for our many sins, each of which has wounded Our Lord once in time and wounds His Church Militant on earth today, and those of the whole world:

Francisco Marto spent long hours in church to console the "good God." So must we:

With his sister Jacinta and his cousin Lucia, he had been blessed with three appearances by an Angel, and six by Our Lady.

At his third appearance, the Angel said to these three young shepherd children: "Console your God". These words impressed Francisco very deeply, and guided his whole life. He wanted to be the "Consoler of Jesus". He felt most hurt when he saw Jesus offended, and his ideal was to give Him consolation. He wanted to avoid sin, and others to avoid it, to save his Saviour sadness. He made very sacrifice he could to give consolation to Jesus. To do this he would stay along for long hours in church, or hide himself in some lonely place. Shortly before he died, he said "In haven I'm going to console Our Lord and Our Lady very much." (Holy Card of Francisco Marto.)

Anyone who thinks that he is "consoling" Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ while he remains "neutral" about or supportive of any of the four sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance is deceiving himself quite possibly to the point of his own eternal perdition, Such a person is in need of our prayers, to be sure. However, such a person is a proximate source of social chaos, not an instrument of justice founded in the binding precepts of the Divine Positive Law and the Natural Law. Sloganeering and sentimentality do not secure one's salvation. Indeed, they are instruments of the devil to lead sloganeers and sentimentalists into Hell as they take many others with them.

Conscious of making reparation for our own sins, which, although forgiven and thus no longer exist, are in need of our making satisfaction here in this passing, mortal vale of tears before we die, may our Rosaries each day help lift the scales from the likes of the confused Catholics and non-Catholics in public life, thereby hastening their return or conversion to the Catholic Church, outside of which there is no salvation and without which there can be no true or lasting social order.

To Combat the Idiocy of Thomas Menino and Proco Joe Moreno and Friends

In order to once again help readers to combat the sloganeering and sentimentality that are used to promote the agenda of perversity, perhaps even by some of our own family members and friends and associates, permit me to summarize some salient points that are simply simple statements of Catholic truth that are not open to debate and from which no one can dissent unless a person can prove that he is not a contingent being (that is a person who has created himself) and that is body is not destined one day for the corruption of the grave until the General Resurrection on the Last Day:

1) God's love for us is an act of His divine will, the ultimate expression of which is the salvation of our immortal souls.

2) Our love for others must be premised on willing for them what God wills for us: their salvation as members of the Catholic Church.

3) We love no one authentically if we do or say anything, either by omission or commission, which reaffirms him in a life of unrepentant sin.

4) Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ hates sin. He wills the sinner to repent of his sins by cooperating with the graces He won for them on the wood of the Holy Cross and that flow into his heart and soul through the loving hands of Our Lady, she who is the Mediatrix of All Graces.

5) One of the Spiritual Works of Mercy is to admonish the sinner. We have an obligation to admonish those who are in lives on unrepentant sin to turn away from their lives of sin and to strive to pursue the heights of sanctity.

6) God has compassion on all erring sinners, meaning each one of us. He understands our weakness. He exhorts us, as He exhorted the woman caught in adultery, to "Go, and commit this sin no more."

7) It is not an act of "love" for people to persist in unrepentant sins with others.

8) It is not an act of "judgmentalness" or "intolerance" to exhort people who are living lives of unrepentant sin to reform their lives lest their souls wind up in Hell for eternity.

9) Mortal Sins cast out Sanctifying Grace from the soul. Those steeped in unrepentant mortal sin are the captives of the devil until they make a good and sincere Confession to a true priest.

9) Certain sins cry out to Heaven for vengeance. Sodomy is one of the four sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance.

10) Those engaged in natural or unnatural acts against the Sixth and Ninth Commandments do not "love" the individuals with whom they are sinning. Authentic love cannot exist in a soul committed to a life against the Commandments of God and the eternal welfare of one's own soul, no less the souls of others.

11) Those engaged in natural  or unnatural acts against the Sixth and Ninth Commandments are not fit to adopt children.

12) Those engaged in natural or unnatural acts against the Sixth and Ninth Commandments are not fit to adopt children because their very sinful lives put into jeopardy the eternal of the souls of the children they seek to adopt. It is not possible for people who are sinning unrepentantly to teach children to hate sin as God hates sin. They are immersed in sin. Pope Pius XI put it this way in Casti Connubii, December 31, 1930:

But Christian parents must also understand that they are destined not only to propagate and preserve the human race on earth, indeed not only to educate any kind of worshippers of the true God, but children who are to become members of the Church of Christ, to raise up fellow-citizens of the Saints, and members of God's household, that the worshippers of God and Our Savior may daily increase.

13) Those engaged in unnatural, perverse acts against the Sixth and Ninth Commandments are further unfit to adopt children because they have no right in the Divine Positive Law or the natural law to live together as a "couple."  Once again, Pope Pius XI's Casti Connubii:

Nor must We omit to remark, in fine, that since the duty entrusted to parents for the good of their children is of such high dignity and of such great importance, every use of the faculty given by God for the procreation of new life is the right and the privilege of the married state alone, by the law of God and of nature, and must be confined absolutely within the sacred limits of that state. (Pope Pius XI, Casti Connubii, December 31, 1930.)

14) Those engaged in unnatural, perverse acts against the Sixth and Ninth Commandment have no right in the Divine Positive Law or the Natural Law to present a "model" of parenthood that is from the devil himself. The words that Saint Paul wrote about perversity in Rome in his own day are quite apropos of our own:

Wherefore God gave them up to the desires of their heart, unto uncleanness, to dishonour their own bodies among themselves. Who changed the truth of God into a lie; and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

For this cause God delivered them up to shameful affections. For their women have changed the natural use into that use against which is their nature.

And in like manner, the men also, leaving the natural use of the women, have burned in their lusts one towards another, men with men working that which is filthy, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was due to their error.

And as they liked not to  have God in their knowledge, God delivered them up to a reprobate sense, to do those things which are not convenient; being filled with all iniquity, malice, fornication, avarice, wickedness, full of envy, murder, contention, deceit, malignity, whisperers, detractors, hateful to God, contumelious, proud, haughty, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, foolish, dissolute, without affection, without fidelity, without mercy.

Who, having known the justice of God, did not understand that they who do such things are worthy of death; and not only they that do them, but they also that consent to them that do them.  (Romans 1: 24-32)

15) Matrimony was elevated to a Sacrament by Our Lord at the wedding feast in Cana. The Holy Sacrament of Matrimony is entered into by one man and by one woman to achieve these ends: the procreation and education of children, the mutual good of the spouses, a remedy for concupiscence. Pope Pius XI noted this in Casti Connubii:

This conjugal faith, however, which is most aptly called by St. Augustine the "faith of chastity" blooms more freely, more beautifully and more nobly, when it is rooted in that more excellent soil, the love of husband and wife which pervades all the duties of married life and holds pride of place in Christian marriage. For matrimonial faith demands that husband and wife be joined in an especially holy and pure love, not as adulterers love each other, but as Christ loved the Church. This precept the Apostle laid down when he said: "Husbands, love your wives as Christ also loved the Church," that Church which of a truth He embraced with a boundless love not for the sake of His own advantage, but seeking only the good of His Spouse. The love, then, of which We are speaking is not that based on the passing lust of the moment nor does it consist in pleasing words only, but in the deep attachment of the heart which is expressed in action, since love is proved by deeds. This outward expression of love in the home demands not only mutual help but must go further; must have as its primary purpose that man and wife help each other day by day in forming and perfecting themselves in the interior life, so that through their partnership in life they may advance ever more and more in virtue, and above all that they may grow in true love toward God and their neighbor, on which indeed "dependeth the whole Law and the Prophets." For all men of every condition, in whatever honorable walk of life they may be, can and ought to imitate that most perfect example of holiness placed before man by God, namely Christ Our Lord, and by God's grace to arrive at the summit of perfection, as is proved by the example set us of many saints.

This mutual molding of husband and wife, this determined effort to perfect each other, can in a very real sense, as the Roman Catechism teaches, be said to be the chief reason and purpose of matrimony, provided matrimony be looked at not in the restricted sense as instituted for the proper conception and education of the child, but more widely as the blending of life as a whole and the mutual interchange and sharing thereof. (Pope Pius XI, Casti Connubii, December 31, 1930.)

16) It is never permissible to put even one child into spiritual, if not physical, jeopardy by claiming that so many others would be helped if the Church did not cooperate with an unjust law. Our Lord said that it would be better for one to have a millstone thrown around his neck and thrown into a lake than to lead one of his little ones astray. He was not joking.

17) The civil state has no authority from God to sanction illicit relationships, whether between a man or a woman (such as Andrew Cuomo's relationship with his current girlfriend, which he is publicly flaunting) or between those of the same gender who are committing sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance. What Pope Pius XI wrote in Casti Connubii about "civil unions" between unmarried men and women applies just as equally to those who are committed the sin of Sodom:

To begin at the very source of these evils, their basic principle lies in this, that matrimony is repeatedly declared to be not instituted by the Author of nature nor raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a true sacrament, but invented by man. Some confidently assert that they have found no evidence of the existence of matrimony in nature or in her laws, but regard it merely as the means of producing life and of gratifying in one way or another a vehement impulse; on the other hand, others recognize that certain beginnings or, as it were, seeds of true wedlock are found in the nature of man since, unless men were bound together by some form of permanent tie, the dignity of husband and wife or the natural end of propagating and rearing the offspring would not receive satisfactory provision. At the same time they maintain that in all beyond this germinal idea matrimony, through various concurrent causes, is invented solely by the mind of man, established solely by his will.

How grievously all these err and how shamelessly they leave the ways of honesty is already evident from what we have set forth here regarding the origin and nature of wedlock, its purposes and the good inherent in it. The evil of this teaching is plainly seen from the consequences which its advocates deduce from it, namely, that the laws, institutions and customs by which wedlock is governed, since they take their origin solely from the will of man, are subject entirely to him, hence can and must be founded, changed and abrogated according to human caprice and the shifting circumstances of human affairs; that the generative power which is grounded in nature itself is more sacred and has wider range than matrimony -- hence it may be exercised both outside as well as within the confines of wedlock, and though the purpose of matrimony be set aside, as though to suggest that the license of a base fornicating woman should enjoy the same rights as the chaste motherhood of a lawfully wedded wife.

Armed with these principles, some men go so far as to concoct new species of unions, suited, as they say, to the present temper of men and the times, which various new forms of matrimony they presume to label "temporary," "experimental," and "companionate." These offer all the indulgence of matrimony and its rights without, however, the indissoluble bond, and without offspring, unless later the parties alter their cohabitation into a matrimony in the full sense of the law.

Indeed there are some who desire and insist that these practices be legitimatized by the law or, at least, excused by their general acceptance among the people. They do not seem even to suspect that these proposals partake of nothing of the modern "culture" in which they glory so much, but are simply hateful abominations which beyond all question reduce our truly cultured nations to the barbarous standards of savage peoples. (Pope Pius XI, Casti Connubii, December 31, 1930.)
