Consistently Inconsistent

by Thomas A. Droleskey

The lords of the counterfeit church of conciliarism have shown themselves to be consistently inconsistent as they have manifested de facto acceptance of Protestant denominations as being instruments of the sanctification and salvation of souls while at the same time taking a very hard line against the validity of certain of the sacraments administered by bishops and priests of traditionalist communities and groups.

To wit, the Anglo-Catholics who were received into the conciliar church on January 1, 2011, and then installed as conciliar presbyters on January 15, 2011, were not required to make an abjuration of errors. The entire "ordinariate" established by the conciliar apparatchiks in the Vatican for Anglo-Catholic "converts" is premised upon Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI's acceptance of their liturgical books even though Pope Saint Pius V condemned those books as heretical in Regnans in Excelsis, March 5, 1570 (see Grand Illusions, Another Year of the Same Conciliar Apostasy, part three, With The Passage Of Time, Days Three and Four of the Conciliar Circus in the United Kingdom, part one, Defaming The English Martyrs, Still Defaming The English Martyrs, Sanctioning Apostasy With Sanctimony and, among many others, Forever Prowling the World Seeking the Ruin of Souls, part 1 .)

Ratzinger/Benedict has treated the "clergy" of false religions as having a mission from God Himself to serve and save souls. He has treated with esteem and respect the bogus clergy of various Protestant sects. He has issued a joint statement with the Greek Orthodox "patriarch," Bartholomew I, on November 30, 2006, which referred to the two them as "pastors of the Church of Christ:"

This fraternal encounter which brings us together, Pope Benedict XVI of Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, is God’s work, and in a certain sense his gift. We give thanks to the Author of all that is good, who allows us once again, in prayer and in dialogue, to express the joy we feel as brothers and to renew our commitment to move towards full communion. This commitment comes from the Lord’s will and from our responsibility as Pastors in the Church of Christ. May our meeting be a sign and an encouragement for us to share the same sentiments and the same attitudes of fraternity, cooperation and communion in charity and truth. The Holy Spirit will help us to prepare the great day of the re-establishment of full unity, whenever and however God wills it. Then we shall truly be able to rejoice and be glad. (Common declaration by Benedict XVI and Patriarch Bartholomew I, November 30, 2006.)

Orthodox bishops, although they have apostolic succession, are not "pastors in the Church of Christ." There is only one Church of Christ, the Catholic Church:

Actually only those are to be included as members of the Church who have been baptized and profess the true faith, and who have not been so unfortunate as to separate themselves from the unity of the Body, or been excluded by legitimate authority for grave faults committed. "For in one spirit" says the Apostle, "were we all baptized into one Body, whether Jews or Gentiles, whether bond or free." As therefore in the true Christian community there is only one Body, one Spirit, one Lord, and one Baptism, so there can be only one faith. And therefore, if a man refuse to hear the Church, let him be considered - so the Lord commands - as a heathen and a publican. It follows that those who are divided in faith or government cannot be living in the unity of such a Body, nor can they be living the life of its one Divine Spirit. (Pope Pius XII, Mystici Corporis, June 29, 1943.)

It is indeed supremely ironic that traditional communities and groups who have not been in "communion," whether "partial" or not at all, with the conciliar "popes" have received all manner of threats from conciliar authorities concerning the validity of some of their sacraments while few such questions are raised publicly concerning the false liturgical rites of non-Catholic religions.

Here, for example, is what the then conciliar "bishop" of Birmingham, Alabama, David Foley, stated about the "canonical" situation at Christ the King Abbey in Cullman, Alabama in 1999:

When I became a bishop, I promised to maintain the deposit of faith, entire and incorrupt within the College of bishops under the authority of the Holy Father, successor of the Apostle Peter. I also promised to guide and sustain the people of God in the way of salvation.

Therefore, with this commitment in mind, to avoid any confusion, I need to clarify for the Catholic faithful of the Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama, the status of Father Leonard Giardina and the community of Christ the King Monastery formed by him in Simcoe, Cullman County, Alabama.

Father Leonard Giardina had been an active Catholic monk at Saint Bernard's Abbey, Cullman, Alabama. He left the Abbey many years ago. My predecessor, Bishop Vath, withdrew the diocesan faculties and suspended him on May 21, 1981. Several years later on April 23, 1994, the Congregation for Religious in Rome confirmed the decree of dismissal of Father Leonard Giardina from the Benedictine Order.

When I arrived in Birmingham in May 1994, I visited Father Leonard. On my first visit, as well as on subsequent visits, I asked Father Leonard to be in union with me and with our Holy Father, Pope John Paul II. He refused to be in communion with us or under our authority.

Father Leonard Giardina has separated himself and his community from my jurisdiction regarding the celebration of Mass and the pastoral care of the Catholic people in our diocese. He continues to function outside the Catholic Church.

Therefore, with sadness, I must inform the Catholic Faithful under my care of the following declarations:

  • The Masses celebrated by Father Leonard Giardina or other members of his community either at Christ the King Monastery, Simcoe, Alabama or other locations within or outside the Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama are illicit. The Catholic Faithful do not fulfill their Sunday Obligation by attending them. Therefore, I advise the faithful that they should not attend these Masses.
  • Neither Father Leonard Giardina nor other members of his community have the faculties of the Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama. Because they do not possess faculties, they cannot validly administer the Sacrament of Penance (hear Confessions), nor validly perform Roman Catholic marriages (Sacrament of Matrimony).

This situation of the invalidity of the reception of Sacraments is deeply disturbing to me because of the spiritual endangerment of our Catholic people.

I ask your prayers for Father Leonard Giardina and the Christ the King Community. I also ask prayers for myself. May Our Lord Jesus Christ in this final year of preparation for the Jubilee, a year for a return to the Father, bring about reconciliation and unity between us.

Date: September 1, 1999

Most Reverend David E. Foley, D.D.
Bishop of the Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama (Bishop David Foley - Christ the King Abbey.)

Neither David Edward Foley or his successor, Robert Joseph Baker have, to the best of my knowledge, warned Protestants that their immortal souls are jeopardized by persisting in false religions with utterly invalid liturgical rites. Neither one, it would appear, has seemed to understand that anyone who believes himself to be a Successor of the Apostles has the obligation to seek with urgency the unconditional conversion of all non-Catholics to the true Faith, that one who considers himself to be a diocesan ordinary has the responsibility on his immortal soul to all that he can to secure the salvation of each of souls within the geographical boundaries of his diocese, Catholics and non-Catholics alike. The conciliar revolutionaries have thus shown great zeal in seeking the unconditional "conversion" of traditionally-minded Catholics while giving every appearance that Protestants and Jews and Mohammedans and Hindus and Buddhists and others are in no jeopardy at all of losing their immortal souls to the fires of Hell for all eternity if they do not convert to the true Faith before they die.

Harsh language?

Consider the words of the Mother of God herself spoke to a Catholic apostate-turned-Calvinist, Pierre Port-Combet, on March 25, 1856:

Then the Lady said, "Where does that heretic live who cut the willow tree? Does he not want to be converted?"

Pierre [Port-Combet, who had become a Calvinist] mumbled an answer. The Lady became more serious, "Do you think that I do not know that you are the heretic? Realize that your end is at hand. If you do not return to the True Faith, you will be cast into Hell! But if you change your beliefs, I shall protect you before God. Tell people to pray that they may gain the good graces which, God in His mercy has offered to them."

Pierre was filled with sorrow and shame and moved away from the Lady. Suddenly realizing that he was being rude, Pierre stepped closer to her, but she had moved away and was already near the little hill. He ran after her begging, "Please stop and listen to me. I want to apologize to you and I want you to help me!"

The Lady stopped and turned. By the time Pierre caught up to her, she was floating in the air and was already disappearing from sight. Suddenly, Pierre realized that the Most Blessed Virgin Mary had appeared to him! He fell to his knees and cried buckets of tears, "Jesus and Mary I promise you that I will change my life and become a good Catholic. I am sorry for what I have done and I beg you please, to help me change my life…"

On August 14, 1656, Pierre became very sick. An Augustinian priest came to hear his confession and accepted him back into the Catholic Church. Pierre received Holy Communion the next day on the Feast of the Assumption. After Pierre returned to the Catholic Faith, many others followed him. His son and five daughters came back to the Catholic Church as well as many Calvinists and Protestants. Five weeks later on September 8, 1656, Pierre died and was buried under the miraculous willow tree, just as he had asked. (Our Lady of the Willow Tree.)

Does Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI believe that Protestants risk the fires of Hell? Do his conciliar "bishops," including David Foley and Robert Baker, believe this? No, proving that they are not members of the Catholic Church. Catholics must believe that non-Catholics cannot be saved in and through their false religions. It appears as though only traditionally-minded Catholics who are not in "full communion" with the false "pontiff" are in jeopardy of losing their souls.

Thus it is that the stipulations of the immediate past conciliar "bishop" of Birmingham, Alabama, David Foley, if adhered to by his successor, Robert Baker, would require members of the Catholic laity who wish to assist at offerings of Holy Mass when, after that "indeterminate" of closure that began on Quinquagesima Sunday, March 6, 2011, Christ the King Abbey reopens to the public after Fathers Sebastian and Michael have obeyed the commands of the leaders of a false church that those of their number who have been married there will have to have their marriages "regularized" by local tribunal of the Diocese of Birmingham. General Absolution may have to be administered in a public ceremony to those who had their confessions heard by the monks of the abbey prior to its reopening at some point in the "indeterminate" future. This would be a public concession on the part of Fathers Sebastian and Michael that their founding abbot, the late Father Leonard Giardina, O.S.B., was acting in disobedience to "church" authority and that he did, by do doing, place in jeopardy the salvation of the souls of those who sought out the sacraments from his own hands and from those of his monks. And how long will it be before these two monks are "aided" by false presbyters of the conciliar church?

Given the completely inconsistent and arbitrary nature of the counterfeit church of conciliarism, however, it is entirely possible that lords of conciliarism will simply pretend that David Foley's statement of September 1, 1999, does not exist or that, according to perverse ":logic" of Ratzinger/Benedict's hermeneutic of continuity and discontinuity, has become "obsolete in the particulars that it contained." It might be the case that those desiring to participate in the public liturgies of a Christ the King Abbey reopened under the auspices of the counterfeit church of conciliarism might be required only to take an oath of fealty to the false "pontiff" and to the teachings of the "Second" Vatican Council and the magisterium of the conciliar "pontiffs." Little details such as a strict adherence to even the conciliar church's 1983 Code of Canon Law can be finessed whenever the situation requires. Whatever turns out to be the case, of course, the plain fact of the matter is that Fathers Sebastian and Michael must admit to terms that cannot but paint their founding abbot as a disloyal son of Holy Mother Church even though he sought to defend the Faith of our fathers as it was being undermined and attacked by the same conciliar revolutionaries from whom they are seeking "recognition" in a false spirit of "obedience."

To embrace the truth of the situation of the Church Militant on earth at this time is not, as I state repeatedly on this site, to make oneself one whit better than anyone else. Such an embrace, however, is not the path to popularity, career success or financial security. Such an embrace entails, at least in most instances, the loss of friends and estranged, if not severed, ties with relatives. Fathers Sebastian and Michael, who appear to be so eager to cast stones at traditionally-minded Catholics for being "angry" and "embittered," do not seem to take into any account whatsoever of this real, intense suffering that the sheep who have flocked to Christ the King Abbey as a refuge in this time of apostasy and betrayal have endured as their price for the embrace of the truth of our ecclesiastical situation. Their self-righteous, sanctimonious condemnation of the sheep who have suffered so much and sacrificed so much is one of the saddest, most tragic aspects of this truly tragic development.

There is much for which to pray and fast and make sacrifice during this Lent as the consecrated slaves of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary. This is, as I noted two days ago, a chastisement for our own infidelities, our own spiritual sloth, our own refusal to reject the world and its false allurements, which are so many in this land of naturalistic self-redemption. We need to pray more Rosaries as we seek to make reparation for our own sins and for those of the whole world, remembering most especially to pray for the needs of those who have been dispossessed by the actions of Fathers Sebastian and Michael and for those among the number of the faithful at Christ the King Abbey who are themselves uncertain about that the true state of the Church so that they can see that the conciliar church is a counterfeit ape of the Catholic Church and act accordingly with courageous conviction.
