At the End of October
by Thomas A. Droleskey
This is going to be a brief commentary.
This is the last day of the month of October in the Year of Our Lord 2011.
Here is a review of the number of people who have responded to the September 24, 2011, Donations page fund-raising appeal letter in the month of October: Twelve. That's right, twelve. Only one person has done so in the past two weeks. One. Four of these responses came from those who make non-tax-deductible financial gifts each month. This means that only there were first-time responses from seven people as the eighth made a generous non-tax-deductible financial gift that was solicited privately that made possible the payment of overdue phone bills associated with the wireless devices to keep my computer connected to cyperspace and the purchasing of some basic necessities.
Here is a review of the number of people who have responded to the September 24, 2011, Donations page fund-raising appeal letter in the month of October: Eleven. That's right, eleven. Each of these individuals has made non-tax-deductible financial gifts in the past. Nine do so every month.

There are far more than twenty-three people who read this site. Yes, many who read these articles do not agree with them. Others may agree with them but lack even the ability to make a non-tax-deductible financial gift of five or ten dollars. Others, I am sure, do have the means to so.
Here is a measure of the
income demographics of those who read this site as measured by the Quantcast measuring service (no, I have no idea how such figures are determined):

As I have noted in the past, I do not know whether those measurements are correct. If they are, however, they are a whole lot more freeloaders out there (that is, people who could provide some assistance now and again without hurting their household budgets as opposed to those who are living as we do, that is, from hand-to-mouth) than ever I thought existed.
Yes, this is all within the Providence of God, Who means for us to keep close to Him through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary. We love the cross. We embrace. We accept it. I am simply asking those of you who have the means and who support the work of this site to help us carry this cross. We need your help.
Not counting this appeals letter, there have been one hundred seventy-three original articles posted on this site in 2011. Yes, the pace has slowed in recent months as I have been working on my book, which has turned into a three volume project. Some of those articles have been lengthy, detailed and were the fruit of much research. Is the laborer worth his keep?
No one is compelled to agree with the work of this site. No one is compelled to support the work of this site with non-tax-deductible financial gifts.
All I can do is ask more readers who do support the work of this site and who have the means to be of assistance to do so at this time, entrusting all to Christ the King through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary and assuring our readers of our prayers every day without fail.
