Immoral Promises Made, Immoral Promises Kept

The immoral practice of in vitro fertilization, which denies the Sovereignty of God over the sanctity and fecundity of Holy Matrimony by making a mockery of the way in which He has ordained His rational creatures to bring forth new life to give Him honor and glory here on earth and to populate Heaven for all eternity, has been much in the news since the Supreme Court of the State of Alabama ruled on Friday, February 16, 2024, that human embryos fertilized in a petri dish are indeed human beings. This very correct ruling prompted condemnations from members of both organized crime families of the false opposite of naturalism, and it was one of the few times that the decrepit, morally decadent, and intellectually bankrupt serial plagiarist and pathological liar named Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., and Donald John Trump were in agreement on a court decision.

It was then and there that the then former president took a stand that defined his so-called "pro-life" position from that that day forward, heedless of the fact that millons of embryonic human beings are destroyed each year in the monstrous process to create human life artificially, and it was just yesterday, Tuesday, February 18, 2025, the Feast of Saint Simeon and, though not on the General Roman Calendar, the Feast of Saint Marie-Bernarde Soubirous, that the man who boasts of "promises made, promises kept" issued the following executive order:

Section 1.  Purpose and Policy.  Today, many hopeful couples dream of starting a family, but as many as one in seven are unable to conceive a child.  Despite their hopes and efforts, infertility struggles can make conception difficult, turning what should be a joyful experience into an emotional and financial struggle.  My Administration recognizes the importance of family formation, and as a Nation, our public policy must make it easier for loving and longing mothers and fathers to have children.

In vitro fertilization (IVF) offers hope to men and women experiencing fertility challenges.  Americans need reliable access to IVF and more affordable treatment options, as the cost per cycle can range from $12,000 to $25,000.  Providing support, awareness, and access to affordable fertility treatments can help these families navigate their path to parenthood with hope and confidence.
Therefore, to support American families, it is the policy of my Administration to ensure reliable access to IVF treatment, including by easing unnecessary statutory or regulatory burdens to make IVF treatment drastically more affordable.

Sec2.  Lowering Costs and Reducing Barriers to IVF.  Within 90 days of the date of this order, the Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy shall submit to the President a list of policy recommendations on protecting IVF access and aggressively reducing out-of-pocket and health plan costs for IVF treatment.

Sec3.  General Provisions.  (a)  Nothing in this order shall be construed to impair or otherwise affect:

             (i)  the authority granted by law to an executive department or agency, or the head thereof; or

(ii) the functions of the Director of the Office of Management and Budget relating to budgetary, administrative, or legislative proposals.

     (b)  This order shall be implemented consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations.

     (c)  This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person. (Expanding Access to In Vitro Fertilization.)

This is a case of immoral promises made and kept.

Here is the text of the "pro-life" plank of the Republican Party platform that was adopted at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, seven months ago:

We proudly stand for families and Life.  We believe that the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States guarantees that no person can be denied Life or Liberty without Due Process, and that the States are, therefore, free to pass Laws protecting those Rights.  After 51 years, because of us, that power has been given to the States and to a vote of the People.  We will oppose Late Term Abortion, while supporting mothers and policies that advance Prenatal Care, access to Birth Control, and IVF (fertility treatments). (full text of the platform.)

What a dope.

What an incorrigible dope.

No one has a right to a child as they are gifts of God to be welcomed with generosity according to the means He has given them to continue the species. The conception of children is not to be prevented, and those who cannot have children are called to accept their cross with equanimity while considering the adoption of children and/or to seek the advice of a believing Catholic obstetrician/gynecologist in an effort to determine whether a case of infertility is medically or surgically remediable.

One can pray for the gift of children, but one can never take matters into their own hands by having recourse to monsters who make billions of dollars by defying God in the creation of human life artificially.

The Protestant Revolution’s overthrow of the Social Reign of Christ the King let loose the forces of anti-Incarnational forces of naturalism upon the world that gave us, in successive turn, divorce, contraception, abortion, the promotion of sodomite and its ever-increasing spectrum of perverse vices, in vitro fertilization, “brain death”/vital organ vivisection and transplantation, the starvation and dehydration of innocent human beings, “palliative care”/hospice, legally sanctioned infanticide, euthanasia, suicide and doctor-assisted suicide and, of course, the curse of human fetal stem-cell research that has spawned the cottage industry of mad scientists who believe that there are no God-given limits on their work and that they will never have to answer to God, in whom most do not believe, for daring to mock His omnipotence.

The downward spiral, though, was over four centuries in the making, longer yet if one considers how certain elements of the Renaissance helped to undermine the integrity of Faith and Morals in various intellectual and artistic circles in the century before the rise of Martin Luther, but we are seeing the tragic consequences of this spiral into the abyss right before our very eyes.

Contraception, of course, resulted in widespread adultery, divorces, broken families, the feminization of poverty and, ultimately, the “legalization” of surgical abortion up to and including the day of birth. This denial of the Sovereignty of God over the sanctity and fecundity of marriage has produced a mentality of selfishness between spouses, most of whom view children as something to be “planned” or “wanted” and not the first end of their married lives. The belief that one can “plan” to have children was followed by the belief that married couples have a “right” to have a child if a wife (or the husband) is infertile. Those who do not accept that it is part of God’s Holy Providence for men and women to join together in Holy Matrimony to welcome as many or as few children as He sees fit to send them will not accept His Holy Will if they are incapable of having children.

There is a long history of infertile couples over the centuries who have chosen to adopt children. Some of these couples continue to do so quite generously in our day. The logic of contraception is such, however, that the desires of the couple, whether married or not these days, are the sole determinant of how many children to have and what to do if even morally acceptable surgical remedies are incapable of rendering an infertile man or woman fertile.

It is this narcissistic and sentimentally-driven belief that led certain scientists who have no regard for the laws of God to create a “market” for the infertile by means of in vitro fertilization. This immoral process of creating a human being outside of the laws ordained by God was based on the expectation that untold thousands of fertilized human embryos, who are human beings, will die before being implanted within a woman’s uterus. Perhaps it should be noted that it came to pass that artificially fertilized human beings were implanted in the wombs of “surrogate” mothers. A very profitable money-making industry was created to cater to human sentiment in an era when people are indifferent to, ignorant or just plain hostile to the laws ordained by God.

The courageous Mrs. Joan Andrews Bell, who has been engaged in peaceful, non-violent efforts to save children in the baby mills themselves since the late-1970s and was pardoned by President Trump on Thursday, January 23, 2025, after she had been sentenced to Federal prison for twenty-seven months for the "crime" participating in a rescue at a notorious late-term baby butchery mill in Washington, District of Columbia, summarized the immorality of in vito fertilization very eloquently last year in a letter she wrote to United States Senators Raphael Edward Cruz (R-Texas) and Katie Elizabeth Boyd Britt (R-Alabama) after the two senators had introduced legislation to declare that in vitro fertilization is a "right":

Dear Senators Cruz & Britt,

How devastatingly heartbreaking it is to hear that you are promoting the protection of in vitro fertilization (IVF) and declaring that this protects life. IVF in fact does the opposite. It promotes the worst death of all for children.

You must know that IVF also abuses women, especially poor women. I know: I’m in jail with some of them.

Medical doctors have taken the forbidden fruit of human conception out of the marriage bond and brought horrible consequences upon us.

IVF is anything but a life-giving alternative for couples experiencing infertility. Those doctors who reap incredible sums of money from desperate couples help conceive many more children in petri dishes than they know will ever be implanted in the womb. Most of those children will knowingly be discarded – killed – or frozen indefinitely or experimented upon like animals.

Most of those children will knowingly be discarded – killed – or frozen indefinitely or experimented upon like animals.

Women I am with now in prison have often talked about becoming surrogates for the money. My pro-life friends and I explained that IVF is not only unhealthy, but immoral, as any Christian should know. God ordained from the beginning that a man and a woman should come together as one to bear children. Nothing can separate this truth. They readily came to understand this is not good.

Another evil of IVF is that sometimes multiple children are implanted into the womb, and because two or more of the children are growing, the doctor will recommend “selective abortion” with the idea that fewer babies in the womb will allow those remaining a better chance to survive.

I know, as we all should, that every child conceived, even by in vitro fertilization, is fully human and truly a child of God.

Please God, I pray, that those many parents who have participated in IVF come to the full knowledge of God’s forgiveness for what they have done.

I know women who now worry about “my children who are in a frozen state.” “What will happen to them?” they ask.

The children born through IVF will come to learn one day that they have full-blooded siblings – yes, brothers and sisters – who may either be born by some other mother or be born years hence, even though conceived at the same time, are forever frozen, or were destroyed.

Think of the many siblings who are born through IVF, likely living near each other, unknowingly related. They might even begin a relationship and want to marry. This creates an invisible, unknowing incest. These are not isolated cases in this unregulated and depraved practice.

How correct was the decision by Alabama’s Supreme Court that frozen embryos are in fact children and their accidental death warrants a wrongful death lawsuit. Now, let’s right the wrong of years of this unhealthy behavior by eliminating further generations of this genetic abuse.

Millions of children have since been conceived and killed. Perhaps as many babies as have been surgically aborted.

Is this the country we want? To have many more live babies at the expense of many more fertilized, extinguished, and experimented upon infants?

IVF is not a pathway to parenthood. It is a pathway to create a cemetery of unburied bodies.

Truly, there are healthy and natural ways toward becoming a parent. This is what you and our national leaders must promote.

Yes, there are scientifically sound and proven methods of overcoming infertility. Because such ways are natural and less costly, they are denounced by the more profitable baby-making businesses.

NaPro Technology (Natural Procreative Technology) successfully treats the symptoms of infertility for both men and women. NaPro uses medicines and surgical techniques overcoming many inabilities to conceive a child. There’s more than a 30-year success rate. Additionally, there are scientifically proven ways to understand the fertility cycle that have a higher success rate at conceiving children than does any IVF facility.

The Gianna Center for Women’s Health & Fertility offers “successfully-proven natural approaches to help women and couples who are struggling with infertility.”

Herbal medicines and even chiropractic methods also have been proven to help conceive a pregnancy.

Of course, we should not leave adoption out of this option. There are many children abandoned by parents or brought into the world by a mom who would love to place a child into the arms of caring, compassionate parents. Make adoption easier for both mothers and families.

Please, dear senators, don’t put politics above your otherwise strong pro-life stands. You can defend life and not have to sell out to an industry capitalizing upon people’s strong desires for something good but using something bad. In most cases, IVF will not work. In all cases, IVF is destroying more lives. In all cases, IVF makes a horrible mess out of what should be a beautiful family that nature ordains.

Joan Andrews Bell is a wife and mother of seven children who was incarcerated for peacefully and prayerfully trying to stop a late-term abortionist in Washington, D.C., in a traditional pro-life rescue.  (Jailed pro-lifer Joan Andrews Bell urges Ted Cruz to reverse support for child-destroying IVF.)

Joan Andrews Bell is as charitable as she is humble and unassuming in exercising her duties to perform the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy.

This having been noted, though, Senator Rafael Edward Cruz, for one, is not authentically “pro-life” as he has made it abundantly clear throughout his career, especially when running against private citizen/celebrity Donald John Trump for the Republican Party’s 2016 presidential nomination that he supports contraception, boasting that he and his wife, Heidi Nelson Cruz, had only two children and not seventeen, and exceptions to the inviolability of all innocent human life.

Here is a reminder of the facts as found in a commentary that appeared on this site on January 20, 2016:

Iowans at a town hall waded into awkward territory on Monday evening as Ted Cruz tackled a question on contraceptives.

During a question and answer session at the final stop of a three-day Iowa campaign swing, an attendee asked Cruz about "making contraception available to women who want to control their own bodies."

The Texas senator began by attacking what he called the Democratic Party's "(concocted) war on women" and accused Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton of falsely attacking the GOP as "the condom police."

"Hillary Clinton embraces abortion on demand in all circumstances up until the moment of birth. Partial-birth abortion with taxpayer funding, with no notification for parents in any circumstances -- 91% of Americans say that's nuts," he said. "So what do they do, they try to shift it. The war on women wasn't that, it was contraceptives. Now listen, I have been a conservative my entire life. I have never met anybody, any conservative who wants to ban contraceptives."

Cruz said the charge that conservatives are anti-contraceptives is a "made-up, nonsense example."

"As I noted, Heidi and I, we have two little girls. I'm very glad we don't have 17," he told the hundreds of people in the audience. "And it's a great example when the war on women came up, Republicans would curl up in a ball, they'd say, 'Don't hurt me.' Jiminy Cricket!"

"Last I checked we don't have a rubber shortage in America. When I was in college we had a machine in the bathroom, you put .50 cents in and voila!" Cruz continued, receiving some uncomfortable laughter from the audience. "So yes, anyone who wants contraceptives can access them, but it's an utterly made-up nonsense issue."

Cruz said Clinton is running as the "condom police" to distract from other policies and "scare" voters.

"Imagine for a second you're Hillary Clinton," he said. "You're trying to think, 'How do I run?' Well you can't run on the economy because we have the lowest percentage of Americans working any year since 1977. You can't run on Obamacare because millions of people have lost their jobs, lost their health care, lost their doctors, seen their premiums skyrocket. You certainly can't run on foreign policy because every country you touched as secretary of state is a disaster."

"So what do you do? You go, 'Ah, ha! Condom police. I'm gonna make up a completely made up threat and try to scare a bunch of folks into thinking someone's going to steal their birth control,'" Cruz said. "What nonsense."  (Ted Cruz: GOP isn't 'condom police.)

Still think that Rafael Edward Cruz is worth supporting?

Cruz is a true son of the spirit of Magaret Sanger. The language he used in that town hall meeting was truly remarkable coming from one who considers himself to have "family values." The man has as little decency and modesty of speech as Donald Trump himself.

Rafael Edward Cruz is a product of Protestant individualism, a man who closes his heart to accepting with generosity and a serene acceptance of the will of God however many or few children He wants them to have. Married couples are obligated to live by God's laws, which forbid the frustration of the transmission of new life. Cruz's attitude is one of selfishness. He is no more a defender of the family than those in the organized crime family of the naturalist "left" who support contraception as a human right even though it is a denial of the Sovereignty of God over the sanctity and fecundity of that which is properly exercised only in the married state.

This poor man does not understand that contraception is a grave moral evil that is proscribed by the binding precepts of the Divine Positive Law and the Natural Law, and he believes that he can be an instrument of justice in the civil realm despite making light of that which is principally responsible for the spread of rampant marital infidelity, widespread divorce and abandonment of families, the feminization of poverty, the rise and institutionalization of the welfare state, and to the decisions of the Supreme Court of the United States of America in the cases of Griswold v. Connecticut, June 7, 1965, Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, June 22, 1973, and, among so many others, Obergefell v. Hodges, June 26, 2015.   (From: Antichrist's Interchangeable Spare Parts, part two: False Opposites Within False Opposites.)

Senator Rafael Edward Cruz’s uncritical support for the evil that is in vitro fertilization did not come out of the blue. Although he has identified himself as a baptized Catholic who “somehow wound up a Southern Baptist,” his false views on contraception and in vitro fertilization are the product of the fact that he has spent all but a few months of his early life as a Protestant and thus does not realize avoiding the conception of children by the us contraceptive pills and devices, each of which is an abortifacient, leads inevitably to the demand for the artificial conception children. Cruz comes by his errors naturally, and the same is true for Senator Katie Britt. Donald John Trump, though, is simply ignorant as he, too, supports the prevention of the conception of children and their artifical creation by means of in vitro fertilization:

Here is a refresher course as to what it is to be "pro-life":

1) No one who supports one abortion under cover of law is pro-life.

2) It is unjust and misleading to call a politician who supports even one abortion under cover of law as being "pro-life."

3) No one who supports contraception and/or funding for same is pro-life or can be called "pro-life."

4) No one who supports classroom instruction in matters pertaining to the Sixth and Ninth Commandments (under any of its various guises) and/or funding for same can be called "pro-life."

5) No one who supports "civil unions" while opposing "marriages" of those engaged in perverse acts in violation of the Sixth and Ninth Commandments is pro-family or can be called "pro-family."

6) No one who supports the medical industry’s manufactured, money-making myth of “brain death” and human vivisection in the name of “giving the gift of life” is “pro-life.”

7) No one who supports the thinly disguised euthanasia that is “palliative care”/hospice is pro-life.

Dr. Charles E. Rice, who died on January 25, 2015, at the age of eighty-two and was one of the foremost experts on the Natural Law in his distinguished career as a professor of law at the University of Notre Dame School of Law, wrote the following in the August 27, 1998, issue of The Wanderer as he attempted to explain the philosophical and practical flaws of the incremental approach to politics and legislation at a time that I was opposing then United States Senator Alfonse M. D'Amato's bid for re-nomination by the Right to Life Party of the State of New York, thereby criticizing the use of the phrase "pro-life" when applied to those who are simply less pro-abortion than those who support unrestricted child murder:

Sen. D'Amato will face a pro-abortion Democratic opponent in the fall. While a voter could morally vote for a pro-abortion candidate who is less objectionable on abortion than his opponent, he should not. The tactic of voting for the less objectionable of two pro-abortion candidates is a tactic of incremental surrender. The incremental strategy of accepting the legalization of abortion in some cases concedes that some innocent human life is negotiable after all. The pro-death movement is a guaranteed winner against an opposition that qualifies its own position by conceding that there are some innocent human beings whom it will allow to be directly and intentionally killed. That approach in practice has mortgaged the pro-life effort to the interests and judgment of what Paul Johnson called "the great human scourge of the 20th century, the professional politician." (Modern Times, 1985, p. 510.)

When a politician says he favors legalized abortion in life of the mother, rape and incest, or other cases, he affirms the nonpersonhood of the unborn child by proposing that he be subjected to execution at the discretion of another. The politician's pro-life rhetoric will be drowned out by the loud and clear message of his position, that he concedes that the law can validly tolerate the intentional killing of innocent human beings. Apart from exceptions, of course, Sen. D'Amato is objectionable as well for some of his other stands on abortion and for his positions on other issues, including especially the homosexual issue.

Pro-lifers could increase their political impact if they were single-issue voters, treating abortion as an absolutely disqualifying issue. Any candidate who believes that the law should treat any innocent human beings as nonpersons by tolerating their execution is unworthy to hold any public office, whether President, trustee of a mosquito abatement district, or senator. (Dr. Charles E. Rice, "Pro-Life Reflections on Sen. D'Amato, The Wanderer, August 27, 1998.)

One who is truly “pro-life” must not care for votes. He must care for truth, and although the truth about immoral practices such as contraception, surgical abortion, and in vitro fertilization can be known by reason alone unaided by the light of Divine Revelation, only those who understand that Holy Mother Church is the repository of the entirety of Divine Revelation and the authoritative interpreter of the Natural Law has a reasonable chance of defending the truth no matter what it might cost in human terms.

As I have noted so many times in the past, we are not solving our problem problems by means merely human. Calvinist and Judeo-Masonic naturalism are what has gotten us into this mess, and one cannot use naturalism to fight naturalism. The only way to fight naturalism and its attendant evils is with Catholicism, nothing else. There comes a point when the so-called “lesser of two evils” becomes indistinguishable from the supposed “greater evils,” and this is how grave moral evils embedded in popular culture and enshrined in law even by those who are self-identified “constitutionalists” and “conservatives.”

I am sorry, good readers, no amount of legitimate budget cuts nor long overdue efforts to curb the size and scope of the Federal bureaucracy, can redeem any public figure's support for in vitro fertilization. A just society can never be established at the price of the killing of the innocent preborn.
