What's Difficult About "Thou Shalt Not Kill"?
by
Thomas A. Droleskey
Many voices will be raised today on the National (Capitol) Mall at Fourth Street in Washington, District of Columbia, at the rally that is held prior to the annual March for Life on this date, January 22, the day on which in 1973 the Supreme Court of the United States of America issued its horrific decisions in the cases of Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton. Some of those voices will belong to the hapless creatures known as "pro-life" politicians, most of whom support the slicing and dicing of innocent preborn children under cover of law in certain "hard" cases.
Others of those voices will belong to conciliar "bishops," each of whom presides over the abortion of the true worship of God represented by the Protestant and Masonic Novus Ordo service, each of whom offends God by virtue of promoting the apostasies of conciliarism (religious liberty, separation of Church and State, false ecumenism, inter-religious dialogue, inter-religious prayer services, episcopal collegiality), each of whom corrupts the innocence and purity of the young by means explicit classroom instruction in matters pertaining to the Sixth and Ninth Commandments, most of whom have in their employ teachers who dissent from other articles contained in the Deposit of Faith, many of whom have systematically covered-up crimes committed by their clergy and have sought to browbeat anyone who dared to bring these crimes to public light. Ah, yes, there might even be a message waiting for the crowd from Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI that would be read by Francis "Cardinal" George, the conciliar "archbishop" of Chicago and the President of the United States Conference of Catholic"Bishops", or by Justin "Cardinal" Rigali, the conciliar archbishop of Philadelphia and the Chairman of the United States Conference of Catholic "Bishops'" Pro-Life Committee.
Yes, this is the same Francis "Cardinal" George who has protected criminal members of the conciliar clergy, including the disgraced former conciliar "bishop" of Springfield, Illinois, Daniel Leo Ryan, and a one-time "confessor" to the late Mother Teresa of Calcutta's Missionaries of Charity, a Father Daniel McCormack, whom George protected and reassigned even after he had definite knowledge of his morally perverse criminal behavior (STATEMENT OF FRANCIS "CARDINAL: GEORGE, O.M.I. ARCHBISHOP OF CHICAGO). This is the same Francis "Cardinal" George who has only mildly slapped the hands of the radical "Father" Michael Pfleger, the pastor of Saint Sabina Church in Chicago, Illinois, who has invited endless numbers of pro-aborts to preach from his pulpit, including the nefarious "Reverend" Al Sharpton and the pro-abortion singer named Harry Belefonte back in the year 2003. Pfleger, who has been a strong and indefatigable supporter of pro-abortion President Barack Hussein Obama, has preached from the "pulpit" that once belonged to the "Reverend" Jeremiah Wright at Trinity "United Church of Christ" in Chicago. What has "Cardinal" George done other than to slap Pfleger's hands? Nothing.
Oblivious to all of this and/or indifferent to these facts, the crowd on the National Mass will cheer the likes of apostates and moral cowards such as Francis George and other conciliar "bishops," men who might show up once a month or so at a local abortuary to pray the Rosary, in and of itself a most commendable, before they return to their chancery offices to preside over the liturgies offensive to God and harmful to souls and as they do nothing--as in nothing--to discipline pro-abort Catholics in public life within their jurisdictional confines. No one is truly "pro-life" if he is an agent of aborting the Faith and an active participant in blaspheming God at the altar. No one is truly "pro-life" if he rejects the necessity of the restoration of the Social Reign of Christ the King, as the Swedish conciliar "bishops" recently reaffirmed when they issued a statement in opposition to the work of the Society of Saint Pius X to pray and to work for the conversion of Sweden back to Catholicism (which should tell the leaders of the Society of Saint Pius X that they are about to be "recognized" by apostates who have cast themselves out of the Church).
None of this will matter to the assembled multitudes on the National Mall today, people who are mollified by the rhetoric of phony pro-life politicians, some of whom fund the chemical assassination of children by means of domestic and international "family planning" programs, and who are "inspired" by the empty rhetoric of the conciliar "bishops" who are enemies of the Social Reign of Christ the King and who cannot for one minute admit that we have baby-killing under cover of law because of the Protestant Revolution and the rise of Judeo-Masonry. It is far easier to believe in mythology than it is to face cold, hard facts and to recognize the farcical nature of American electoral politics and the counterfeit nature of the conciliar church.
Great promises will be made today. Words of praise will even be offered for the now-departed former President George Walker Bush despite all that he, Bush, did to promote the destruction of the innocent preborn by chemical means under cover of law. Congratulations will be offered to various dignitaries although no one has done anything for which to be "congratulated."
Tens of thousands of people, many of whom will have made great sacrifices to get to Washington, D.C., this day, will process along what has become, I have discovered, a truncated route of march up to Capitol Hill. Meetings will be held with various members (or, in many instances, legislative aides who have been chosen to be fed to the pro-life "wolves" that day by their bosses) of the United States Senate and United States House of Representatives. Most people will depart for home in their buses thereafter. Some will believe that their "pro-life duty" has been completed for the year while others will labor hard and with great sincerity in the conciliar structures to convince their fellow Catholics yet attached to those structures that abortion is wrong. The mere fact that such efforts to convince baptized Catholics that the direct, intentional taking of innocent human life is prohibited by the binding precepts of the Fifth Commandment must be undertaken should speak volumes about the thoroughly bankrupt nature of the counterfeit church of conciliarism.
Others will attend the annual "Rose Dinner" that will be held tonight at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Washington, D.C., where more words of "congratulations" will be offered. The spirit of false ecumenism will prevail as members of schismatic and heretical sects are recognized and asked to lead prayers. Everything that has helped to contribute to baby-killing under cover of law in this nation (Protestantism, the precepts of the American founding, religious liberty, false ecumenism, pluralism, conciliarism) will be on full display as those in attendance believe that we can put aside denominational "differences" to fight the evils of the day, oblivious to the fact that we baby-killing under cover of law in the United States of America precisely because of the Protestant Revolt's overthrow of the Social Reign of Christ the King that has been institutionalized by the multifaceted, inter-related forces of Judeo-Masonry and embrace with a full throat by the leaders of the counterfeit church of conciliarism. In keeping with the ecumenical and non-denominational nature of the Rose Dinner, there will be no exhortations to pray Our Lady's Most Holy Rosary, which is, of course, prayed by many thousands of the participants during the actual March for Life, as to do so would be to "offend" the Protestants and the Orthodox and adherents of the Talmud in attendance at that dinner.
Some of the posters that will be held by the assembled pro-life Americans in Washington, D.C., today will express opposition to the "Freedom of Choice Act," which has been reviewed on this site in Only Themselves to Blame, which even Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, D-California, an ardent pro-abortion Catholic, admits does not have the votes to pass. The focus on FOCA, however, has been a distraction. The real danger from the agent of "change we can believe in," President Barack Hussein Obama, is not FOCA. It is the the Prevention First Act that is being heralded on the new White House website:
Preventing Unintended Pregnancy: President Obama was an original co-sponsor of legislation to expand access to contraception, health information, and preventive services to help reduce unintended pregnancies. Introduced in January 2007, the Prevention First Act will increase funding for family planning and comprehensive sex education that teaches both abstinence and safe sex methods. The Act will also end insurance discrimination against contraception, improve awareness about emergency contraception, and provide compassionate assistance to rape victims. (Agenda for Women, found on the new White House website, Welcome to the White House.)
Change we can believe in? Any Catholic who is prone to express any enthusiasm, even guarded enthusiasm, for the new naturalist in the White House, Barack Hussein Obama, had better check that enthusiasm right here and now. As I have been saying for over twenty years now, no one who supports a single, solitary abortion under cover of the civil law is fit to hold any office of public trust or can accomplish anything "positive" for the common temporal good. Those who are at war with God by means of their support for each of the four sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance are incapable are incapable of sowing anything other than discord and chaos. Barack Hussein Obama is an enemy of God. And while we pray for his conversion to the true Faith, we must denounce his particular brand of naturalist lies just as some of us denounced George Walker Bush for his anti-life, statist policies when he claimed to be "pro-life."
The "Prevention First Act," which will, most likely, be heralded by Obama today as he meets with representatives of pro-death organizations to reassure them of his support for the decision of the Supreme Court of the United States of America in the cases of Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, will pass with the support of many so-called "pro-life" legislators, including, I would dare to venture, that of Arizona Senator John Sidney McCain III, who has been courted to great effect by Obama recently. People get so focused on emotional red herrings that they lose sight of the fact that we must use our Catholic reason to assess the information that is sent to us rather than responding emotionally with petition-drives and histrionic e-mails.
The "Prevention First Act" is very insidious as not all "pro-life" voters in our pluralistic country oppose contraception or see it as evil in and of itself, a violation of the Sovereignty of God over the sanctity and fecundity of marriage. Some, such as Alaska Governor Sarah Heath Palin, are very supportive of contraception and explicit classroom instruction in matters pertaining to the Sixth and Ninth Commandments. The "Prevention First Act" is the sort of "common ground" initiative that Obama will seek to promote to "bridge" the "differences" between those who "disagree" on a "difficult" issue, namely, the killing of an innocent human being, and it will stand an excellent chance of passage in the 111th Congress, and he knows that he can count on the support of many Catholics for this particular bill as most of those attached to the counterfeit structures of conciliarism believe in and support contraceptive pills and devices of one sort or another.
It must be kept in mind also that it was, after all, the administration of former President George Walker Bush and former Vice President Richard Cheney that kept increasing annual funding for domestic and international "family planning" programs, which include abortifacient contraceptives, and whose Food and Drug Administration authorized over-the-counter sales for the Plan B "emergency contraceptive" abortifacient that is heralded in the "Prevention First Act." Oh, yes, there is much "common ground" between Obama's beliefs and those of the previous administration whose second term has just expired.
Indeed, many Catholics in the structures of the counterfeit church of conciliarism would not find any problem at all with this general statement of principle about abortion, couched in terms of the euphemism known as "reproductive rights," on the new White House website:
Supports a Woman's Right to Choose: President Obama understands that abortion is a divisive issue, and respects those who disagree with him. However, he has been a consistent champion of reproductive choice and will make preserving women's rights under Roe v. Wade a priority in his Administration. He opposes any constitutional amendment to overturn the Supreme Court's decision in that case. (Agenda for
Women, found on the new White House website, Welcome to the White House.)
There is a special irony in all of this. Former President George Walker Bush frequently called abortion a "difficult" and "divisive" issue about which people of "good will" could disagree quite legitimately. What's difficult about "Thou Shalt Not Kill"? It's really very simple. Well, it's not that simple for open pro-aborts such as Obama or for phony "pro-life" politicians such as George Walker Bush and his father, former President George Herbert Walker Bush. Obey God without reservation as He has revealed Himself to men exclusively through His true Church? Not men like Obama or the Bushes (or Bob Dole, remember him?).
Indeed, George Walker Bush was opposed to any constitutional amendment to overturn Roe v. Wade, something that many deliberately uninformed "pro-life" Catholics seem not to want to recall. He was in favor, if you will recall, of "building a culture of life" so that all children "will be welcomed in life and protected by law" even though he believed that the civil law could permit the direct, intentional taking of the lives of some children in certain "hard" cases and even though he worked most assiduously for the election of Republican pro-aborts. How can you "build" a "culture of life" when you work for the election of people who support the destruction of the innocent preborn. Well, of course, logic was never "W's" strong suit, now was it? Neither was speaking intelligibly in his mother tongue. Clear speaking is a sign of clear thinking. Muddled speaking is a sign of muddled thinking. There's a lot of that in a country built on false, naturalistic, religiously indifferentist, anti-Incarnational, semi-Pelagian, rationalistic and Protestant and Judeo-Masonic principles.
Thus it must ever go in a system of the false opposites of naturalism. The differences between George Walker Bush and a Barack Hussein Obama are merely matters of degree and rhetoric and style, not of real substance, as I noted yesterday in
Studied Silence, False Hopes and on Tuesday in
We Wait for Another, We Wait for Christ the King. The masses are fooled into believing that there are real, substantive differences when there are none, duped into thinking that such things as the lifting of the Mexico City "gag" rule, which was not such a "gag" rule after all, by Obama today will be "shocking" when the rule itself was a sham from beginning to end that saved not a single, solitary baby's life.
Blame for this tragic state of affairs rests in very large measure upon the shoulders of those conciliar "bishops" (and their predecessors in the past four decades) who speak such bold words before the March for Life but who refrain from disciplining the pro-aborts in their own ranks who serve in public office. What's difficult about saying "anathema sit?" The likes of Edward Moore Kennedy and Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., and Barbara Mikulski and Geraldine Ferraro and Thomas Foley and Patrick Leahy and Christopher Dodd and Richard Durbin and Carol Mosely Braun and Gray Davis and Arnold Schwarzenegger and George Elmer Pataki and Tom Ridge and Rick Lazio and John F. Kerry and Rudolph William Giuliani and Jack Reed and Mario Matthew Cuomo and Andrew Cuomo and Patrick Kennedy and Joseph P. Kennedy III and Kathleen Kennedy Townsend and Jennifer Granholm and Kathleen Sebelius and Mary Landrieu and Carolyn McCarthy and Tom Vilsack and Charles Rangel and Thomas Harkin and the late Daniel Patrick Moynihan and the late Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States of America William Brennan and Jim Doyle and Maria Cantwell and Patricia Murray and Susan Collins and Susan Molinari and Martin Meehan and the late Thomas P. O'Neill and Loretta Sanchez Brixey and Linda Sanchez and
Antonio Villaraigosa and Richard Riordan and the late Ron Brown and Henry Cisneros and Eligio "Kika" de la Garza and Marcy Kaptor and James Moran and Nancy Pelosi and Maurice Hinchey and George Mitchell and Sherwood Boehlert and Mike Arcuri, among so many others, have been able to support the mystical dismemberment of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in the persons of innocent preborn children in their mothers' wombs under cover of law because of the rank cowardice of the apostates who comprise the conciliar "hierarchy. And why should ordinary Catholics attached to the structures of the counterfeit church of conciliarism believe in the "pro-life" rhetoric of the conciliar "popes" and the conciliar "bishops" then those "popes" and "bishops" do nothing to discipline Catholics who are notorious public sinners in the support of the evil of the direct, intentional killing of innocent preborn children under cover of law?
Ah, it is easy to rationalize away discipline in the name of a false "pastoral charity" when one no longer believes in anathemas (that have been eschewed since jolly old Angelo Roncalli/John XXIII opened the "Second" Vatican Council on October 11, 1962). Once again, good readers, the fact that the counterfeit church of conciliarism does not believe in anathemas or censures, save for a very few cases here and there, should prove that it is but an ape of the Catholic Church and that it is manifestly wrong to lend it any credibility or support whatsoever.
Consider this report, dated on the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, September 8, 2008, about the moral paralysis exhibited by William "Cardinal" Levada, the prefect of the conciliar Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, handpicked for that position by his mentor and protector, Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI, in the face of the Socialist government of Spain's decision to expand "abortion rights" in this country where Christ the King had reigned so well for so long:
8 September 2008
MADRID -- The Catholic Church is saddened at the government's plans to expand abortion rights in Spain, although it will wait to hear the details before attacking the draft legislation.
Although the ruling body of Spanish bishops has decided not to make a statement until the government explains the bill in more detail, a Vatican representative said that Spain's plans are the cause of sorrow in Rome.
"Such a project makes me sad because it is not based on the notion of life as a precious gift that begins with conception," said Cardinal William Joseph Levada, the prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, formerly known as the Inquisition. Levada's predecessor at the head of this body was Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, who later became Pope Benedict XVI.
At the heart of the dispute is the government's plan to reform a 23-year-old abortion law that currently allows women to terminate their pregnancies in cases of rape, foetus malformation and risk of physical or psychological damage to the mother.
In practice, 90 percent of abortions are carried out on the grounds of psychological trauma, the vaguest of the legally valid conditions.
The reform aims to bring this law closer to other European countries where free abortion is allowed within specific timeframes, usually between 10 and 12 weeks of gestation.
However, Deputy Prime Minister María Teresa Fernández de la Vega last weekend sought to downplay the notion of free abortion, saying that the new legislation only seeks to improve the current law "and make it clear in which cases it is possible to terminate the pregnancy and in which cases it is not".
Attack on hypocrisy
Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero also spoke out against critics of reforming the abortion law, saying: "I reject the hypocrisy of those who want to divide our country on account of a better pregnancy termination law."
Although the Vatican's official doctrine regarding abortion has not changed, the tone has.
In 1984, when the Socialist government led by Felipe González introduced the current law, which decriminalised abortion in three cases, Rome threatened to excommunicate the entire Socialist Group in Congress. The Spanish bishops said that anyone who voted in favour of such a law would be "a murderer".
These days, however, the Pope's spokesmen, including Levada, are asking for time to reflect and voice an opinion. ("Vatican Saddened by Spanish Socialist Abortion Plans," Expatica, September 8, 2008, Vatican sadden by Spanish Socialist Abortion Plans)
"Time to reflect and voice and opinion"? Yes, William Levada, evidently, still needs time to "reflect and voice an opinion" about the woman who was a parishioner of his when he was the conciliar "archbishop" of San Francisco from December 27, 2005, to May 13, 2005. William Levada left United States Representative Nancy Patricia D'Alesandro Pelosi in perfectly "good standing" in the conciliar structures despite her militant support for the killing of innocent preborn children by chemical and surgical means. The conciliar "bishops" in the United States of America who talk the "pro-life" talk at the March for Life while they undermine the Faith on a daily basis and as they take no action against the pro-abort Catholics in public life under their own apostate noses are simply doing what the conciliarists in Rome want them to do.
Although there have been, as noted before, forces at work in the world for the past half a millennium in behalf of the protection of various moral evils under cover of law, those forces could not have been as triumphant or as resilient or as successful in institutionalizing these evils had it not been for the counterfeit church of conciliarism's embrace of religious liberty and the falsehood of separation of Church and State and false ecumenism, thereby leaving hundreds of millions of people around the world left to fend for themselves in the darkness of false religions to the point of their dying breaths, and its refusal to discipline wayward sheep in a decisive manner to send a clear signal to one and all that support for the mystical destruction of Christ the King in the womb is a mortally grave matter that imperils the salvation of souls and thus the good of the domestic and international orders.
While it is important for fully traditional Catholics who make no concessions to conciliarism or to the nonexistent legitimacy of its false shepherds to pray Our Lady's Most Holy Rosary in front of abortuaries and to engage in sidewalk counseling in order to try to save babies and, more importantly, save souls, it is important also to keep in mind that the battle for the Faith comes first and foremost. We have chemical and surgical abortion-on-demand in this country because the forces of Modernity and Modernism have aborted Christ the King. We must put the Catholic horse in front of the pro-life cart. There can be no restoration of legal protection for the preborn unless there is the restoration of the Catholic City, the restoration of Christendom as the fruit of the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
To this end, of course, as I noted in last year's reflection,
Thirty-five Years of Indifference, which is being re-highlighted today, we must pray many Rosaries of reparation for our own sins as well as for those of the whole world, including, of course, one of the four crimes that cry out to Heaven for vengeance, willful murder:
His Excellency Bishop Daniel Dolan put the matter this way in the bulletin of Saint Gertrude the Great Church for the Octave of the Epiphany, Sunday, January 13, 2008:
I must confess that I am increasingly reluctant to be involved with anything that seems to encourage people actually to believe in, to put their hope in--or even to take seriously politics and politicians as the answer to our problems in society, as opposed to our true and only hope, Christ the King. The hour is late. What waste precious time and energy?
While it is always good to pray the Rosary, in public or in private, it is surely always bad to link it with our "bought and sold" politicians, ecumenical rallies, etc. Those who do these things are good, and act from the very best of motives. I believe, however, that all of this serves only to give legitimacy to dead end naturalist strategies, and to neutralize the good; feeding false hope, year after year, and distracting from true solutions.
I must say as well that it seems odd that having heard Heaven for 15 decades, at one of these Rosary Processions, we should hear representatives if not of hell, at least of the deceptive voices of the deceived in an ecumenical setting. I think I'll stick with the Rosary and the Blessed Sacrament.
Won't you plan to join us Tuesday afternoon and evening the 22nd of January for Masses, Rosaries, Holy Hours and Eucharistic Adoration? I know of no more powerful means to prevent abortions. Our business must be to make reparation through Mary's Immaculate Heart, to convert our land, not to participate in political parties and lies.
I could not agree more wholeheartedly with His Excellency, and this is coming from one who made himself unemployable as a college professor of political science because of my outspokenness against abortion--and against the way in which most of the conciliar "bishops" enabled Catholic pro-abortion politicians of both major political parties--and my having run for office three times on the New York State Right to Life Party line. The hour is indeed very late. This is a time not for celebratory rallies and parades, things that those in the echelons of political power tolerate on January 22 each year before returning to the "real" business (the economy, the "global war on terror," getting themselves re-elected) at hand. What has been gained by "dumbing down" the meaning of the term "pro-life" by casting votes cheaply for those who support abortion in at least some instances and who are not opposed at all to contraception and who campaign actively for totally pro-abortion candidates of their own political party? Nothing. Indeed, much has been lost.
It is my hope and prayer that those who read this site will spend time today on their knees before Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in His Real Presence in the Most Blessed Sacrament (if a chapel where He is truly present is reasonably nearby) and to pray all fifteen decades of Our Lady's Most Holy Rosary. I realize that this may not be possible given the commitments and duties of one's state-in-life. One can, at the very least, send his Guardian Angel to pray for him in front of the Blessed Sacrament. And those who spend time commuting in their vehicles might be able to manage to pray all fifteen decades of Our Lady's Most Holy Rosary on their way to and from work or school.
Each family should, however, find some time today to pray an extra set of mysteries of the Rosary if it is not possible to pray in reparation for abortion, both chemical and surgical, and for the conversion of those of who have had, performed, participated in or been supportive of abortion in any way, shape or form, remembering also to pray for the day that the United States of America will become the Catholic States of America. God will never "bless" a land that is responsible for the shedding of so much innocent blood under cover of law, a land that has spread, in the name of "civil and religious liberty," mind you, Protestant "churches" and Masonic "lodges" in formerly Catholic countries, taking many souls out of the true Church in the process, a country that has spread fashions and "entertainment" fare that have been responsible for the poisoning of so many souls
While it is important to continue to be a peaceful, prayerful presence in front of the abortuaries as we pray our Rosaries alongside our fellow traditional Catholics (we cannot participate in Catholic "ecumenical" events where the false "luminous mysteries" are prayed) and to do the work of sidewalk counseling for those who are so called, it is necessary first and foremost to build up the Kingship of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in our own souls, seeking to making reparation for our own many sins, especially those, if any, against the virtues of Chastity and Modesty, as the precondition for helping to plant a few seeds for the restoration for His Social Reign over us and our nations.
In addition to our daily Rosaries and the acts of reparation we make to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, who better to turn do in our efforts to restore the Faith in this time of barbarism in the world and apostasy and betrayal on the part of the Modernists than to our beloved Saint Joseph, the Patron of the Universal Church and the Protector of the Faithful:
O Blessed Saint Joseph, tenderhearted father, faithful guardian of Jesus, chaste spouse of the Mother of God, we pray and beseech thee to offer to God the Father, His divine Son, bathed in blood on the cross for sinners, and through the thrice-holy Name of Jesus, obtain for us from the eternal Father the favor we implore.
Appease the Divine anger so justly inflamed by our crimes, beg of Jesus mercy for thy children. Amid the splendors of eternity, forget not the sorrows of those who suffer, those who pray, those who weep; stay the Almighty arm which smites us, that by thy prayers and those of thy most holy Spouse, the Heart of Jesus may be moved to pity and to pardon. Amen.
There is nothing "difficult" about the Fifth Commandment's absolute prohibition against the direct, intentional taking of innocent human life. We need to beg Our Lady, in whose Virginal and Immaculate Womb the Word was made Flesh and dwelt amongst us, to help us realize that her Divine Son, Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is in solidarity with every child in every mother's womb no matter the condition of the child conceived or the circumstances of the conception. To attack a preborn child is to attack Him mystically. Indeed, each abortion is an indirect attack on the Incarnation Itself insofar as the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity deigned to sanctify the womb by becoming a prisoner thereof for nine moths prior to His Nativity in Bethlehem.
Apart from my many years of speaking on this issue in the college classroom and in the public forum, this issue affects me most personally.
My own late mother, Norma Florence Red Fox Droleskey, was born out of wedlock on March 6, 1921, in Kansas City, Missouri, to a woman named Ruth Coomer, who named my mother "Maxine" and her twin brother, who died in infancy, "Max." Miss Coomer put my mother and her twin brother up for adoption. They were adopted by a vaudevillian Sioux Indian performer, "Chief" William Red Fox (whose book of partly factual and partly fictitious "memoirs" was on The New York Times best-seller list for five weeks in 1971), and his wife at the time, Maude Red Fox, my mother's mother-by-adoption who took arsenic powders to kill herself in 1930 when my mother was nine years old. Ruth Coomer did not have the "option" of killing her twin babies under cover of law in 1920.
Today, however, there would be a bevy of social workers and "family planning counselors" and others "advising" her to "terminate" her pregnancies. I know that I would not have been born if Miss Coomer had lived in our circumstances today and took such "advice." How many grandchildren of the children killed by means of chemical and surgical abortions have never seen the light of the day since 1967? How many vocations to the priesthood and the consecrated religious life have been lost? More importantly, of course, God has been denied honor and glory here on earth and souls to adore Him in Heaven for all eternity.
How can we not make reparation for these crimes against God and man? How can we think that God will permit any nation to know sustained material prosperity at home or peace from enemies at broad when it shows itself to be His enemy by making war upon the innocent unborn and promoting all manner of evils in its own culture as well as exporting those evils abroad?
May the Rosaries we pray today and the time spent before Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ's Real Presence in the Most Blessed Sacrament help to undo the debt that we owe for our own sins and help to plant seeds for the day when all men and women everywhere, including in the United States of America, will indeed welcome children generously and raise them to become canonizable saints in this life so that they can enjoy the glory of the Beatific Vision of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost for all eternity in Heaven.
