Only One Election Matters
by
Thomas A. Droleskey
Those who are concerned about power as an ultimate end in and of itself usually wind up destroying their own careers in the long run. Yes, sure, there are exceptions. However, the devil uses people so that they can get puffed up with pride before he dumps them rather unceremoniously into an abyss of shame and humiliation, hoping that his victims will annihilate themselves spiritually and physically after suffering such embarrassment. Most importantly, the devil wants other people to fall into the pit with the ones he raises up to public prominence by convincing them to pin their fondest hopes and dreams on the career fortunes of this or that secular savior, only to have those hopes dashed repeatedly by means of failed expectations and/or scandal.
As a citizen of this country who wills her good, I do not mean to gloat not one little bit over the very predictable failures of President George W. Bush and the Republican Party in the past six years. Indeed, it is very sad to see so many American men and women sent into Iraq to be killed or maimed for no reason at all other than the Bush administration's delusional beliefs that their war in behalf of the State of Israel and American corporate interests somehow furthers this country's national security. Bush protests that the "job" in Iraq "must get done." What that "job" is, however, remains very unclear. If by "getting the job done" Bush means that Iraq's political situation will be stabilized and a Western-style "democracy" that is sympathetic to the interests of the State of Israel is going to emerge, then he is out of his mind. If he believes that "getting the job done" means that the continued American presence in Iraq is necessary to assure that Iraq's oil supply will not fall into the hands of the Islamic Republic of Iran, then he must admit to the American public that this is a far, far cry from his assertions throughout 2002 and into early 2003 that Iraq's alleged stockpile of "weapons of mass destruction" posed a grave threat to American national security and required our immediate intervention.
An article I wrote for The Remnant back in January of 2003 was entitled, "For What?," meaning that our then pending invasion and occupation of Iraq could be justified by no legitimate understanding of the Just War Theory and that our men and women would be sent needlessly into harm's way so as to be bogged down in an inevitable outbreak of sectarian violence that would take place following the overthrow of Saddam Hussein's regime. There was never any "exit strategy" planned by the White House, whose officials believed that "victory" would be easy and that the Iraqis would welcome their American "liberators" with open arms as they built a representative regime based on principles that would permit the American dream of pluralism (freedom of speech and press, free exercise of religion, supposedly "free" elections, a market economy) to flourish next door to "America's only friend" in the Middle East, the State of Israel. A reverse "dominoes theory" was to take place with autocratic regimes in Syria and elsewhere falling as a result.
Unable to maintain with a straight face that "victory" has been achieved, Bush must shift ground and contend repeatedly that this country is indeed "safer" as a result of the invasion and occupation of Iraq, no matter the fact that a recent report issued by his own national intelligence agency, headed by former Ambassador to Iraq John Negroponte, said that the future for Iraq looks bleak and that this country is not any more secure than it was back in March of 2003 when the American invasion of that country began. The news of the daily carnage of innocent human beings is staggering, except when one considers that the country responsible for harboring mass murderers and their weapons of mass destruction, that is, the United States of America, is the place where over 4,000 innocent human beings are killed by surgical abortion each and every day of the year, to say nothing of the countless thousands of others who are killed by chemical abortifacients, some of which are provided by means of "family planning" programs specifically supported and encouraged by the "pro-life" Bush administration. We have spent billions upon billions of dollars visiting death and destruction in Iraq while it has been "business-as-usual" insofar as baby-killing under cover of law in this country.
The chickens, however, are coming home to roost for Bush and his minions, which is exactly what the devil has planned for them from the very beginning. The adversary raised up William Jefferson Clinton so as to make anyone look better in comparison to him. This was the devil's way of deceiving good people and lulling them to sleep as they convinced themselves that they had a "friend" in the White House who was not at all like his immediate predecessor. This is why so many good people were willing to give Bush the benefit of the doubt about Iraq even after things were demonstrated to be unquestionably bad there.
Indeed, George W. Bush was thought by by pro-life Catholics to be the antidote to Clinton, although he signaled on the very day of his first inauguration, January 20, 2001, in an interview with CBS-TV that the "country was not ready" to reverse Roe v. Wade. Attorney-General nominee John Ashcroft mouthed presidential adviser Karl Rove's canard that "Roe v. Wade was settled law" and that the administration would enforce it. A veritable galaxy of pro-abortion appointees dotted the administration's landscape. Bush campaigned actively for pro-aborts in his own political party, including Catholic pro-abort Arnold Schwarzenegger in California and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, among others. None of this seemed to matter to those seeking to project into the mind and heart of their secular savior their own deeply held convictions.
The cycle goes on and on and on. The evil one raises up Democrats who make phony pro-life Republicans seem better by comparison, advancing evil all the while. That is, the more that people convince themselves that they have to support the so-called "lesser of two evils" will be the more that they come to accept, quite passively and resignedly, increasingly higher doses of the "lesser evil" with the passage of time. It is entirely possible that those Catholics who think voting in our Judeo-Masonic system still matters and makes a difference will be faced with a choice between the pro-abortion Methodist named Hillary Rodham Clinton and the pro-abortion Catholic named Rudolph William Giuliani (who remains a Catholic "in good standing," by the way) in the presidential election of 2008. "Giuliani's better than Clinton" will be the mantra of a lot of even pro-life Catholics, traditional and Novus Ordo alike, who will convince themselves that they must participate in the trap of two-party electoral politics, oblivious to the fact that their enabling of these career sycophants does nothing to retard evils and actually winds up further institutionalizing various as allegedly "irreversible" facts of our political and cultural landscape.
Bush's hold on pro-life Catholics has been a trick of the devil. Indeed, a former Bush administration official has written a book in which he contends that Karl Rove called evangelical Protestant supporters of the administration to be "nuts," documenting how the current administration was just as much driven by focus-group polling as was its immediate predecessor. The Bush administration's "pro-life" and "pro-family" overtures have always come with significant catches. As we as noted a few days ago, Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice recently introduced the new head of the administration "global AIDS" program, recognizing the man's sodomite partner and referring to the "partner's" mother as the appointee's "mother-in-law!" First Lady Laura Bush was beaming as all of this took place.
Anyone who thinks that this does not have the approval of the President himself is as delusional as those who think that the International Theological Commission examining the existence of Limbo does not have the support of Benedict XVI, who holds out hope for the salvation of Judas Iscariot. Bush does indeed approve of all this. He is as arrogant as Clinton in believing that his "base" will never desert him. He has flouted God's laws and the legitimate laws of this country. He has countenanced torture to extract evidence from alleged terror suspects. He has authorized electronic eavesdropping on our phone-calls and e-mails, all in the name of national security. He has done this quite imperiously, taking ever advantage of the events of September 11, 2001, to augment his power in ways that would make even Richard Milhous Nixon blush with shame.
Ah, the devil may neigh well be through with Bush, though. His days appear to be numbered. Just as he used Bush I to give us Clinton I, the devil is using Bush II to give us Clinton II. Bush's imperious actions and his callous disregard for the lives of the Americans he has put so needlessly and unjustly in harm's way in Iraq and Afghanistan are beginning to have an electoral bite to them. His Republican allies are caught up in the sort of bribery and kickback scandals that could have sent Lyndon Baines Johnson to prison had he not squelched investigations into the extent to which he was involved in Bobby Baker's corrupt activities. (See a fascinating account of this at Bobby Baker, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson. The account is riveting. I do not know what the site on which this information is located has to say about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Although I am not a conspiracy theorist, my late father, who followed current events closely and had some great insights on the natural level into those events, may very well have had it right on November 22, 1963, when he said, "Johnson's behind this assassination." We'll find out on the Last Day at th General Judgment of the Living and the Dead.) The bribery scandals might reach into the White House itself, something that will surely be fodder for the Democrats if they regain control of one or both houses of Congress in the mid-term elections on Tuesday, November 7, 2006.
A Federal judge issued an order yesterday, Black Thursday, October 19, 2006 (the day the New York Mets lost the National League pennant to the St. Louis Cardinals; bases loaded in the ninth inning and they couldn't score a run!), to provide access to the Washington Post to Vice President Richard N. Cheney's White House visitor logs to find out if lobbyists associated with Jack Abramoff, who is at the epicenter of the downfall of several Republican members of the House of Representatives. Yes, the devil uses fallen man's attraction to money and power to build up his ego and to convince him that he can act arrogantly against the laws of God and the just laws enacted by his fellow men to advance the common temporal good. The devil does this in order to bring down his victims to a resounding thud sooner rather than later.
Yes, it can be argued that there are times when the devil protects certain people, such as William Jefferson Clinton, whose own Whitewater problems and the selling of access the White House to foreign campaign contributors never caused much of a stir among the public. Even the fact that Clinton "copped a plea" and voluntarily surrendered his license to practice law in an deal with independent counsel Robert W. Ray on January 20, 2001, in which he admitted having lied under oath about his relationship with Monica Lewinsky matters little to almost anyone. Clinton is still the toast of the time, likely to become the first president to be the husband of a president. The devil needs the Clintons to keep pro-life Catholics all in a tizzy as they spend their time watching talk shows and listening to "talk radio" rather than spending their time before the Blessed Sacrament in prayer and praying Rosaries for the Triumph of Our Lady's Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart as the fruit of the fulfillment of her Fatima Message. Some of the devil's unwitting pawns are necessary to keep a populace trapped in the belief that they absolutely must "support" anyone who is perceived to be better than the ilk of the Clintons and other like-minded Democrats.
The truth of the matter, ladies and gentlemen, that the frenzy of American politics has always been a trap to deceive people, especially Catholics, that there is some secular, inter-denominational or non-denominational way in which to "resolve" social problems that have their remote cause in Original Sin and their proximate cause in Actual Sins. How much time and energy and money are spent on responding to this or that "urgent" direct mail appeal to support this or that bill or this or that candidate or to oppose this or that bill or this or that candidate? Our Judeo-Masonic system is the control of people who hate the Word Who was made Flesh and dwelt amongst us in Our Lady's virginal and immaculate womb. These people care about power, money and influence. Period. Everything else is a shell game played out on various stages (national, local, state) in order to "con" voters into thinking that the fate of the world depends upon this or that election. It does not.
The fate of the world depends upon the state of individual souls, which is why (as I point out in Alien to the Faith and thus to Truth Himself today) conciliarism's abandonment of the Social Reign of Christ the King has enabled the career thugs of political parties here and around the world to posit themselves as the saviors of all that is right and just in this passing, mortal vale of tears. Gone from the ranks of conciliarism is the recognition of these words of wisdom from Pope Leo XIII and Pius XI, contained, respectively, in Tametsi Futura Prospicientibus, November 1, 1900, and Ubi Arcano Dei Consilio, December 23, 1922:
God alone is Life. All other beings partake of life, but are not life. Christ, from all eternity and by His very nature, is "the Life," just as He is the Truth, because He is God of God. From Him, as from its most sacred source, all life pervades and ever will pervade creation. Whatever is, is by Him; whatever lives, lives by Him. For by the Word "all things were made; and without Him was made nothing that was made." This is true of the natural life; but, as We have sufficiently indicated above, we have a much higher and better life, won for us by Christ's mercy, that is to say, "the life of grace," whose happy consummation is "the life of glory," to which all our thoughts and actions ought to be directed. The whole object of Christian doctrine and morality is that "we being dead to sin, should live to justice" (I Peter ii., 24)-that is, to virtue and holiness. In this consists the moral life, with the certain hope of a happy eternity. This justice, in order to be advantageous to salvation, is nourished by Christian faith. "The just man liveth by faith" (Galatians iii., II). "Without faith it is impossible to please God" (Hebrews xi., 6). Consequently Jesus Christ, the creator and preserver of faith, also preserves and nourishes our moral life. This He does chiefly by the ministry of His Church. To Her, in His wise and merciful counsel, He has entrusted certain agencies which engender the supernatural life, protect it, and revive it if it should fail. This generative and conservative power of the virtues that make for salvation is therefore lost, whenever morality is dissociated from divine faith. A system of morality based exclusively on human reason robs man of his highest dignity and lowers him from the supernatural to the merely natural life. Not but that man is able by the right use of reason to know and to obey certain principles of the natural law. But though he should know them all and keep them inviolate through life-and even this is impossible without the aid of the grace of our Redeemer-still it is vain for anyone without faith to promise himself eternal salvation. "If anyone abide not in Me, he shall be cast forth as a branch, and shall wither, and they shall gather him up and cast him into the fire, and he burneth" john xv., 6). "He that believeth not shall be condemned" (Mark xvi., 16). We have but too much evidence of the value and result of a morality divorced from divine faith. How is it that, in spite of all the zeal for the welfare of the masses, nations are in such straits and even distress, and that the evil is daily on the increase? We are told that society is quite able to help itself; that it can flourish without the assistance of Christianity, and attain its end by its own unaided efforts. Public administrators prefer a purely secular system of government. All traces of the religion of our forefathers are daily disappearing from political life and administration. What blindness! Once the idea of the authority of God as the Judge of right and wrong is forgotten, law must necessarily lose its primary authority and justice must perish: and these are the two most powerful and most necessary bonds of society. Similarly, once the hope and expectation of eternal happiness is taken away, temporal goods will be greedily sought after. Every man will strive to secure the largest share for himself. Hence arise envy, jealousy, hatred. The consequences are conspiracy, anarchy, nihilism. There is neither peace abroad nor security at home. Public life is stained with crime. (Pope Leo XIII, Tametsi Futura Prospicientibus)
To these evils we must add the contests between political parties, many of which struggles do not originate in a real difference of opinion concerning the public good or in a laudable and disinterested search for what would best promote the common welfare, but in the desire for power and for the protection of some private interest which inevitably result in injury to the citizens as a whole. From this course there often arise robberies of what belongs rightly to the people, and even conspiracies against and attacks on the supreme authority of the state, as well as on its representatives. These political struggles also beget threats of popular action and, at times, eventuate in open rebellion and other disorders which are all the more deplorable and harmful since they come from a public to whom it has been given, in our modern democratic states, to participate in very large measure in public life and in the affairs of government. Now, these different forms of government are not of themselves contrary to the principles of the Catholic Faith, which can easily be reconciled with any reasonable and just system of government. Such governments, however, are the most exposed to the danger of being overthrown by one faction or another. (Pope Pius XI, Ubi Arcano Dei Consilio)
Only one election matters, ladies and gentlemen, and that is the election that took place in the Baptismal font when we were incorporated into the very inner life of the Blessed Trinity as members of the Catholic Church. It is this election and this election alone that defines who we are and how we are to conduct ourselves in the midst of our daily lives. It is this election that teaches us that we are to view all of the events of our own individual lives and the larger lives of nations and the world exclusively through the eyes of the true Faith, not as partisans of this or that political party and not as jingoistic nationalists and not as adherents to this or that political ideology or philosophy, whether of the left or of the right. We are called to be champions of Christ the King and of Mary our Immaculate Queen no matter how seemingly insurmountable the obstacles may be to the restoration of Christendom.
Remember this and remember it well: God is omnipotent. He has arranged it in his loving Providence that we would be alive at this time of ecclesiastical and civil disarray. He wants to be the humble clients of His Most Blessed Mother's Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart as we attempt to plant the seeds for the restoration of Tradition in the Church and Christendom in the world as the fruit of the fulfillment of Our Lady's Fatima Message. We must live penitentially and prayerfully, praying fervently for those who do not have the Faith, including the conciliarist officials, mindful of these these stirring words, contained at the end of the Oath Against Modernism:

The Longer Version of the Saint Michael the Archangel Prayer, composed by Pope Leo XIII, 1888
O glorious Archangel Saint Michael, Prince of the heavenly host, be our defense in the terrible warfare which we carry on against principalities and powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, spirits of evil. Come to the aid of man, whom God created immortal, made in His own image and likeness, and redeemed at a great price from the tyranny of the devil. Fight this day the battle of our Lord, together with the holy angels, as already thou hast fought the leader of the proud angels, Lucifer, and his apostate host, who were powerless to resist thee, nor was there place for them any longer in heaven. That cruel, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil or Satan who seduces the whole world, was cast into the abyss with his angels. Behold this primeval enemy and slayer of men has taken courage. Transformed into an angel of light, he wanders about with all the multitude of wicked spirits, invading the earth in order to blot out the Name of God and of His Christ, to seize upon, slay, and cast into eternal perdition, souls destined for the crown of eternal glory. That wicked dragon pours out. as a most impure flood, the venom of his malice on men of depraved mind and corrupt heart, the spirit of lying, of impiety, of blasphemy, and the pestilent breath of impurity, and of every vice and iniquity. These most crafty enemies have filled and inebriated with gall and bitterness the Church, the spouse of the Immaculate Lamb, and have laid impious hands on Her most sacred possessions. In the Holy Place itself, where has been set up the See of the most holy Peter and the Chair of Truth for the light of the world, they have raised the throne of their abominable impiety with the iniquitous design that when the Pastor has been struck the sheep may be scattered. Arise then, O invincible Prince, bring help against the attacks of the lost spirits to the people of God, and give them the victory. They venerate thee as their protector and patron; in thee holy Church glories as her defense against the malicious powers of hell; to thee has God entrusted the souls of men to be established in heavenly beatitude. Oh, pray to the God of peace that He may put Satan under our feet, so far conquered that he may no longer be able to hold men in captivity and harm the Church. Offer our prayers in the sight of the Most High, so that they may quickly conciliate the mercies of the Lord; and beating down the dragon, the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, do thou again make him captive in the abyss, that he may no longer seduce the nations. Amen.
Verse: Behold the Cross of the Lord; be scattered ye hostile powers.
Response: The Lion of the Tribe of Juda has conquered the root of David.
Verse: Let Thy mercies be upon us, O Lord.
Response: As we have hoped in Thee.
Verse: O Lord hear my prayer.
Response: And let my cry come unto Thee.
Verse: Let us pray. O God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we call upon Thy holy Name, and as suppliants, we implore Thy clemency, that by the intercession of Mary, ever Virgin, immaculate and our Mother, and of the glorious Archangel Saint Michael, Thou wouldst deign to help us against Satan and all other unclean spirits, who wander about the world for the injury of the human race and the ruin of our souls.
Response: Amen.
