Latin and the Lector Babes

by Thomas A. Droleskey

High Church, Low Church, which was written and posted nearly two months ago now, discussed how the counterfeit church of conciliarism apes the Catholic Church in much the same manner as the Anglican Church, which mixes Latin and the vernacular as it provides a variety of roles to the laity in the sanctuary during its liturgies and as it tolerates a variety of different beliefs and doctrinal interpretations in a sort of ecclesiastical "big tent." Well, this "high church, low church" phenonenon is very much on display as Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI, who is more sedate than his clownish predecessor, Karol Wojtyla/John Paul II, presides over various Novus Ordo liturgical ceremonies.

The Novus Ordo vespers service last evening in the Crypt Church of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, District of Columbia, featured a bit of Latin mixed in the the English in which what is now called the "Liturgy of the Hours" (rather than the Divine Office) was sung. It also featured a lector babe, a woman doing one of the readings in the sanctuary. Ah, yes, the "pope" of "tradition" strikes again.

Speaking of "tradition," exactly how long did Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI speak about Summorum Pontificum in the presence yesterday evening of those responsible for implementing it in their dioceses, the conciliar "bishops" of the United States of America. Hmm. How long? Just an oversight, I suppose. Just an oversight.

Two more lector babes have just read the "first" and "second" readings at the Novus Ordo service at Nationals Park that is underway as this is being written. A choir leader babe led the jazzed-up "responsorial psalm" that has taken the place of the Gradual and the Lesser Alleluia outside of Paschaltide and the Greater Alleluia during Paschaltide.

Ladies and gentlemen, a bit of Latin and the wearing of some long-abandoned traditional vestments and other attire (red shoes, for example) do not make one a member of the Catholic Church. Women are not permitted to enter the sanctuary during the offering of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Narratives are not given by anyone, including the priest offering a Mass, as occurred when the conciliar "archbishop" of Washington, D.C., Donald Wuerl, a man who does not believe that pro-abortion Catholics in public life should be denied what purports to be Holy Communion in the counterfeit church of conciliarism, "introduced" the "Mass" at Nationals Park before Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI himself made a few introductory remarks. A horrid "penitential" rite, which mixed Kyrie eleison and Christe eleison with vernacular invocations sung by a choir, is also symptomatic of the improvised nature of conciliarism and of its synthetic liturgy, the Novus Ordo service.

Latin is the universal language of the Catholic Church, used in the liturgies of her Latin (or Roman Rite). It is the language of her councils and her official documents. (Excuse me, the "traditional" calypso music is playing right now during the "Presentation of the Gifts." I'm inspired to do one of my former dances as The Lone Ranger of Shea Stadium. I'll get back to you soon.) Oh, where was I? Yes, Latin is the universal language of the Catholic Church, expressing the universality of the Church, the permanence and the immutability of God (Tribal music, replete with drums, is now accompanying the singing of the Veni Creator Spiritus, in Latin, mind you, sounds a little bit like Harry Bellefonte singing the The Gilligan's Island theme song), and the mysterium tremendum (they're now playing the jazzy "Holy, Holy, Holy," oh, my, did that ever bring back horrid memories--and now Ratzinger/Benedict XVI is praying that wonderfully orthodox "Eucharistic Prayer III") that is the unbloody sacrifice of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ's Sacrifice of Himself to the Father in Spirit and in Truth on the wood of the Holy Cross.

The mixture of Latin with the horrid spectacle taking place at Nationals Park is a metaphor for the mixture of Catholicism with conciliarism. The celebration of the vernacular languages, which was on full display during the General Intercessions of the Faithful in the service now going on at Nationals Park (replete with a politically correct mixture of black, Spanish and Asian men and women, selected, of course, to represent the universality of the Church that is supposed to be expressed in her sacred language, Latin, which is now being used in a modern version of the Agnus Dei). This Tower of Babel of languages in the "offering" of what purports to be the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is so symbolic of the of the differences on matters of doctrine and discipline that exist the counterfeit church of conciliarism.

Ah, what is this now? Yes, the false "pope" is now distributing what purports to be Holy Communion, giving it in the hand to those who stretch out their paws as the "Gospel singers," yet another "traditional" feature that has been "restored" as part of the "quiet revolution"). One wonders at this point why "Archbishop" Albert Malcolm Ranjith's preface to a book about the Eucharist published sequentially in L'Osservatore Romano earlier this year, in which Ranjith, the Secretary of the Conciliar Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments, called for the elimination of the distribution of what what purports to be Holy Communion in the hand, is said to reflect the thinking of Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI, who could have ended this conciliar feature, introduced by the conciliar "bishops" and then approved by conciliar"Rome," any time he desired, including at his "extravaganza" services. Not today, however. Not today. Maybe next year, huh? How about the year after that?

The distribution of what purports to be Holy Communion in the hand came after the "pope of tradition" used the formula "for you and for all" in "Eucharistic Prayer III," which he will utter when he uses "Eucharistic Prayer I" (the modernized version of the Roman Canon) at Yankee Stadium on Sunday, April 20, 2008. When is "pro multis" going to be restored in the Novus Ordo service? When are the additional words after Hoc Est Enim Corpus Meam going to be removed in the Novus Ordo formularies? Soon? Next year? The year after that? Do you get the idea that the "quiet revolution" is so quiet that it is nothing other than the figment of very overactive imaginations that are projecting into Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI's Modernist mind their own fondest desires for the Church. I know. I did this for far too long with Karol Wojtyla/John Paul II. It was a delusion in 1978 and 1979. It is a delusion now.

Oh, a Captain and Tennille (they're still around, you know) wanna be team are now leading a jazzed up version of Pange Lingua! And now, presto, here's Placido Domingo singing Panis Angelicus. This is The Ed Sullivan Show, a little something for everyone, which is what the counterfeit church of conciliarism is all about. Placido Domingo just got applause after the Panis Angelicus, more applause when he greeted Ratzinger/Benedict, and this is AFTER the reception of what purports to be Holy Communion. Oh, oh, time for the final prayer. Silence. No more applause. That's more traditional, isn't it  Oops, the crowd applauded again before the blessing.

None of this is from God, ladies and gentlemen. The Protestant and Masonic Novus Ordo service is a celebration of the temporal, that is, the time-bound as it purports to "worship" God, Who is greatly offended by this spectacle that is attempted to be offered in His Holy Name. The service that has just ended in the Washington, District of Columbia, was a mockery and an affront to God. Sadly, it is just the first to occur today. The unspeakable horror of Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI's repeating the multiple crimes against God committed by his predecessor, to say nothing of his own crimes against God (entering into a mosque and assuming the Mohammedan prayer position, entering into a synagogue and esteeming a dead religion, calling Mont Hiei in Japan "sacred) will be on full display later today at the "Pope" John Paul II Cultural Center in Washington, District of Columbia.

The "pope" of "hope" spoke not at all in the service at Nationals Park, produced in the the seat of the Federal government of the United States of America, about Christ the King. There was also not one word at all about Our Lady or her Most Holy Rosary. How can there be "hope" for the world in following Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ as He has revealed Himself to men exclusively through His Catholic Church except by offering ourselves to Him through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, especially by means of the Most Holy Rosary that she gave to Saint Dominic de Guzman and has been so instrumental in crushing heresies and defeating in military battles the sworn enemies of her Divine Son, Our Lord and King? No reference to the Mother of God in a "homily" where every false cultural trend imaginable was embraced with enthusiasm?

Was Saint Louis de Montfort wrong when he wrote the following?

The pious and learned Jesuit, Suarez, Justus Lipsius, a devout and erudite theologian of Louvain, and many others have proved incontestably that devotion to our Blessed Lady is necessary to attain salvation. This they show from the teaching of the Fathers, notably St. Augustine, St. Ephrem, deacon of Edessa, St. Cyril of Jerusalem, St. Germanus of Constantinople, St. John Damascene, St. Anselm, St. Bernard, St. Bernardine, St. Thomas and St. Bonaventure. Even according to Oecolampadius and other heretics, lack of esteem and love for the Virgin Mary is an infallible sign of God's disapproval. On the other hand, to be entirely and genuinely devoted to her is a sure sign of God's approval."

An occasional reference to Our Lady is not good enough. Our Lord wants us to go to Him through her. Devotion to the Mother of God must be encouraged at all times--and with full-throated joy--as an antidote to the anti-Incarnationalism of our naturalistic world. Our Lady's Most Holy Rosary is the chief means of our sanctification after Holy Mass and Eucharistic piety. To refuse to speak of it in the presence of thousands of people in an alleged "Mass"--with millions more watching worldwide--is to denigrate the Mother of God by omission, something that displeases her Divine Son, Christ the King, very much. Then again, Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI has admitted that he does not pray the Rosary every day himself. Why should he promote it publicly?

We are going now to offer a Rosary of reparation prior to my recording another commentary that will be posted on Christ or Chaos Store (which is working fine now; see the home page) later on this afternoon before I resume writing. Isn't it time for each of us to offer a Rosary of reparation for the offenses given to God and His Most Blessed Mother by the apostates of the counterfeit church of conciliarism.

The Immaculate Heart of Mary will triumph in God's good time. And it will be a glorious triumph beyond all telling, May we, by keeping Our Lady's Fatima Message in our own lives, help to plant a few seeds for the vanquishing of the enemies of her Divine Son and the restoration, please God and by her maternal intercession, in the Catholic City, the City of Mary our Immaculate Queen, as the one and only foundation of personal and social order.
