Deepwater Plague

by Thomas A. Droleskey

Discussions of domestic and world events in the so-called "mainstream media" are controlled by various assortments of naturalists. Discussion in the so-called "alternative media" by different collections of naturalists, most, although not all, of whom are fixated on a particular naturalistic theory that they believe responsible for all of the world's problems.

Admitting that there are conspiracies that do indeed cause or at least exploit specific crises, it should also be kept in mind that the blathering of this assortment of naturalists, many of whom who are given "face time" in the mainstream" media and receive nifty little stipends for doing so, helps to feed viewing and listening audiences hungry for every tidbit of "analysis" that they can find in order to better "understand" a given crisis. Some people spend all of their waking moments going from one website to another to find the "latest" information available, thereby wasting time that could be spent more profitably by praying more Rosaries and by reading good books about the Faith and the lives of the saints. As will be discussed at the end of this brief article, the crises of the moment that catch our attention are chastisements for our sins and those of the whole world. God will not be mocked. He will not suffer the offenses committed against Him under cover of the civil law and promoted wantonly in what passes for "popular culture" to go unpunished indefinitely.

The naturalists of the various "false opposites" in our anti-Incarnational world of pluralism, despite their differences, sometimes substantial, on particular issues, have this in common: they believe that the Incarnation of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in the Virginal and Immaculate Womb of His Most Blessed Mother by the power of God the Holy Ghost is a matter of complete indifference to personal and social order. This one, foundational error of Modernity is a veritable "deepwater plague," if you will, polluting souls with a variety of poisonous theological and philosophical concepts that are meant to be, wittingly or not, substitutes for the Holy Faith Itself. The bilge and the sludge that come out of this "deepwater plague" of Modernity has spread so thoroughly across the face of the earth that it is those who insist that Catholicism is the one and only foundation of personal and social order who are considered be part of the "lunatic fringe," veritable religious "extremists" or "fanatics," by the lords of naturalism in the supposedly "competing" camps of the "left" and the "right."

The anti-Incarnational "deepwater plague" of Modernity is what leads some naturalists to become virtual (if not actual) pantheists who so exalt the protection of the natural environment that they consider any efforts on the part of men to be good, responsible stewards of the earth by exploring for and putting to use various natural resources for the sustenance of human life and commerce to be irresponsible and immoral. These modern pantheists, who masquerade as "environmentalists," use any and every natural or man-made disaster that they can to promote their true agenda: Communism, which is a point I made in an article in The Wanderer sixteen years ago now entitled "When Green Is Red."

Environmental ideologues mean to promote an agenda that is part socialism and part fascism, exploiting disasters such as one that been ongoing since April 20, 2010, when a oil drilling rig operated by British Petroleum (BP) exploded, killing eleven workers and unleashing a true environmental disaster whose potential impact on the economies of states that border the Gulf of Mexico and possibly upon the entire Eastern seaboard of the United States of America  has been discussed in near-apocalyptic terms by some experts because of the size of the oil spill and the toxic nature of the chemical dispersants that have been used to dissipate the spill, which is now gushing an amount of oil from deep beneath the Gulf of Mexico at a rate twice that of the Exxon-Valdez oil spill in Alaska in 1989 every eight days, without success thus far.

Some of the naturalists on the "right" believe that all of this is poppycock, that "nature" will take care of things. Such an irresponsible assessment of the harsh realities that could be facing millions of people living along the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean feeds the ability of the naturalists of the "left" to exploit the unprecedented disaster represented by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill to promote "alternative energy" sources as Americans are forced to change their lifestyles to live "greener" lives that are more in accord with their own "received beliefs" as to what constitutes "justice for the earth," which they believe exists so we can serve "it," the "earth," with a minimum amount of spoliation or pollution. The home pages of the Sierra Club and National Wildlife Federation websites both feature stories that seek to exploit using this genuine crisis, which has cost a lot of good, hard-working Catholic fisherman and shrimpers of coastal Louisiana any way of making a living, to promote the passage of "clean energy" bills in the Congress of the United States of America. Although leaders of these and other ideologies of the "environmental movement" normally would be yelling loudly about such a disaster, they have the exact same goal as the White House: to use this crisis to advance their own policy objectives (see Enviros give Obama a pass on spill).

This is one of the reasons why President Barack Hussein Obama (aka Caesar Barackus Obamus Ignoramus) has reacted rather casually to a disaster that has taken eleven lives and has cost hard-working people who live a hand-to-mouth existence, something, I know for a fact, that many readers of this site do in their own lives (we do as well, of course), income and could have catastrophically adverse consequences for millions upon millions of people in the years ahead. Oh, sure, Obama has gone to the Gulf states several times now. He has spoken in crude, vulgar terms about his "anger" over what has happened. He has used a White House meeting to console the families of the victims of those killed aboard the BP Deepwater Horizon oil rig on April 20, 2010. He has not, however, used his presidential powers to order the Federal government of the United States of America into taking the lead in cleaning up the oil spill, which is far worse than is being reported by news outlets who are, in many instances, being denied direct access by governmental officials (at all three levels of government, mind you) and by representatives of British Petroleum to affected areas along the Gulf shores. He is permitting British Petroleum to supervise operations in the Gulf.

Obama, of course, desires to use the Gulf crisis to expand the powers of the Federal government to promote a "greener" America just as he used the "health care crisis" to push through is ObamaCare takeover of one-sixth of the American economy, telling one lie after another as he did so in order to get this pro-abortion, thoroughly utilitarian bill through the Congress of the United States of America. Obama wants to move "beyond fossil fuels" and to make it easier for the government to regulate how much of those fuels we can consume by monitoring the use of our motor vehicles and imposing fines or levies upon those who exceed the amount allotted to them. A crisis such as the Deepwater Horizon oil spill makes it possible for Obama to promote "clean energy" bills in Congress as a water of promoting the ability of governmental agencies to "protect" the natural environment. It suits the purposes of Caesar Barackus Obamus Ignoramus very well to let British Petroleum deal with the oil spill at its source and to assign to it the principal responsibility for cleaning up the millions of gallons of spilled oil.

Although the Obama White House, which is replete with so many people who shade and misrepresent the truth so much that it is not an exaggeration to state that their words and actions are making it appear as though the honest man being sought by Diogenes was none other than William Jefferson Blythe Clinton, has denied that they are using the oil spill in the Gulf to call for a moratorium on all offshore oil drilling in the future which would, over the course of time, drive up gasoline and fuel heating prices so much that we will be forced out of our cars or forced to alter our travel plans and lifestyles even without government monitors and reporting systems) in addition to the existing moratorium on permits for new deepwater drilling projects to exploit the Deepwater Horizon oil spill to promote its clean energy legislation and to drive up prices that will force us to change our lives, thus curbing our legitimate liberties, and to enrich even further firms, such as Goldman Sachs, that sell oil futures (see Goldman Sachs Nails The Oil Trade, Oil Prices Should Be Going Through the Roof and Gulf Oil Spill to Drag Goldman Sachs into Trading Scandal?).

White House energy adviser Carol Browner on Friday rejected accusations from a panel of experts who claim the administration misrepresented their views to justify a six-month ban on offshore drilling in response to the BP oil rig disaster.

The denial came after the experts alleged that the Interior Department modified a report in late May that was used as the basis for the sweeping moratorium on existing drilling and new permits.

Though the report claimed the analysts, picked by the National Academy of Engineering, "peer reviewed" the department's recommendations, the experts say the two paragraphs that called for the moratorium were added only after they signed off on it.

To the contrary, the experts warn that such a moratorium could not only harm the economy but make the situation in the Gulf more dangerous. The April 20 oil rig explosion occurred while the Deepwater Horizon well was being shut down -- a move that is much more dangerous than continuing ongoing drilling, they said.

"A blanket moratorium is not the answer," they wrote in a letter claiming Interior Department Secretary Ken Salazar's report "misrepresents" their position. "A blanket moratorium will have the indirect effect of harming thousands of workers and further impact state and local economies suffering from the spill."

That's exactly the argument that Gulf Coast lawmakers and the families of oil rig workers have been making as they fight the administration's moratorium decision.

"We do not believe that punishing the innocent is the right thing to do. We encourage the secretary of interior to overcome emotion with logic," the experts wrote.

But while Salazar has acknowledged that the moratorium was his decision, not theirs, Browner argued that the administration did nothing wrong.

"No one's been deceived or misrepresented," Browner told Fox News, defending the moratorium as a safety measure. "These experts gave their expert advice, and then a determination was made looking at all of the information, including what these experts provided -- that there should be a pause, and that's exactly what there is. There's a pause."

The experts claimed the draft report that they looked at called for a six-month freeze on permits for new exploratory wells 1,000 feet or deeper and a "temporary pause" on current drilling.

Somehow, that was changed to call for a six-month moratorium on permits for new wells being drilled using floating rigs and an "immediate halt" to drilling operations on 33 permitted wells.

"None of us actually reviewed the memorandum as it is in the report," oil expert Ken Arnold told Fox News. "What was in the report at the time it was reviewed was quite a bit different in its impact to what there is now. So we wanted to distance ourselves from that recommendation."

The experts also faxed a memo to Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Louisiana Sens. Mary Landrieu and David Vitter to clarify that they do not believe the report justifies the moratorium.

They also said that because the floating rigs are scarce and in high demand worldwide, they will not simply sit in the Gulf idle for six months. The rigs will go to the North Sea and West Africa, possibly preventing the U.S. from being able to resume drilling for years.

They said the best and most advanced rigs will be the first to go, leaving the U.S. with the older and potentially less safe rights operating in the nation's coastal waters. (White House Rejects Oil Report Claims.)

Could it be that President Barack Hussein Obama, who received close to a million dollars in campaign cash from executives employed by Goldman Sachs and whose administration's officials have extensive ties to Goldman Sachs (see A List of Goldman Sachs People in the Obama Government: Names), is not actually demonstrating managerial incompetence in the Deepwater Horizon oil and natural gas spill but is actually seeking to accomplish policy goals that will expand the powers of the Federal government, whose phalanx of existing agencies could not coordinate information about drilling dangers associated with particular rigs in the Gulf of Mexico, more and more while profiting his friends at Goldman Sachs as they sell oil futures on the oil futures trading market? Could it be that the man who who wrote The Audacity of Hope is simply audacious, that he is just another crook who cut his political eye-teeth in the corrupt Cook County Democratic Party machine? Could it be?

Yes, it could. The human toll in jobs lost, including those jobs of the hourly workers on the oil rigs who are now out of work for at least six months, if not longer. (See 135 years of shucking stops.) Just more fodder for moving everyone into "energy alternatives." More and more evidence is emerging that the "accident" on April 20, 2010, that caused the explosion that killed eleven people may not have been an "accident" after all (see http://www.congress.org/soapbox/alert/15124161).

This is why the state, local and federal officials are indeed conspiring actively with officials of British Petroleum to seek, sometimes successfully and sometimes unsuccessfully, to limit press coverage of the true extent of this disaster, something that has created a new cottage industry, something called "iReporters," as the "front line" (see Gulf Residents Mourn Oil Disaster) as a means of getting news on what is happening on the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. A friend of ours in Pensacola, Florida, told me yesteday, the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, that the beaches there are terribly polluted now. The Deepwater Horizon oil spill represents a perverse opportunity for the statists to expand their powers and to control more of our daily lives and a perverse opportunity for the bankers of those statists to line their own pockets with money at the fuel pumps over the course of time.

Take a look at a live camera view of the oil spill yourselves: LIVE: Watch oil gush into Gulf. The callous disregard of the sons and daughters of Modernity who are interested in power and money is but the logical result of rebelling against the Divine Plan that God Himself instituted to effect man's return to Him through the Catholic Church. As Father Francis Miller, O.F.M., noted to me around noontime, Eastern time, when I spoke to him on the phone about the suffering that that has been imposed on the hard-working Catholics of Acadiana in Louisiana, the government is attempting to exploit this crisis to make people who have been independent of the government thus far dependent upon the government for their livelihood. This is all about exploiting an "accident," if it was that, to advance the goals of the statists and the bankers.

As noted at the beginning of this commentary, it is indeed the "deepwater plague" of Modernity that has created a world wherein so many men live solely for the acquisition of money and/or political power by all means necessary while so many others seek to worship the earth that was given us by God to be responsibly in accord with the binding precepts of the Divine Positive Law and the Natural Law that He has entrusted exclusively to His Catholic Church for their eternal safekeeping and infallible explication. This world of Modernity, born as a result of the overthrow of the Social Reign of Christ the King wrought by the Protestant Revolution and institutionalized by the naturalistic forces of Judeo-Masonry, is a world where petty men believe that they can act as demigods as their violate the laws of the very true God of Divine Revelation Who will not be mocked by the promotion of sin under cover of the civil law and in almost every aspect of what passes for popular culture. There is no longer the mediating force of the Catholic Church to guide men and their nations to refrain from excess indulgence on the one hand and a neo-pantheism on the others.

Yes, as bad as all of this is--and it is bad in terms of jobs lost and property threatened and long term damage to the oceans and to wildlife that are part of the food chain, we must remember that none of this harm can compare for a single moment to the horror our sins, both Mortal, if any, and Venial, Sins imposed upon Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in His Sacred Humanity during His Passion and Death and upon Our Lady as she suffered the piercing of her Immaculate Heart by those Seven Swords of Sorrow. We are suffering at present from a chastisement for our sins and those of the whole world. Did we really think that God, Who is indeed all merciful but Who is also all just, would let the United States of America go unpunished for its slaughter of the preborn, both by chemical and surgical means, and for the promotion of each of the four sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance as well as serving as the chief exporter of this and other evils throughout the entire world?

And one of the worst sins of all, of course, is apostasy. How many times have we seen the conciliar "pontiffs" esteem the symbols of false religions and enter places of false worship and call them "sacred," praising such things as religious liberty and separation of Church and State that were condemned repeatedly by one true pope after another right up until the death of Pope Pius XII on October 9, 1958? The examples are numerous. God will not be mocked. We must be punished for our sins, including sins of omission by refusing to look at the apostasy that is in our midst and to denounce it as we seek to make reparation to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary for such apostasy and for the blasphemies and sacrileges and other abuses that are committed by false "popes" in the name of the Catholic Church.

Who says apostasy is one of the worst sins. Oh, let me see. Yes, how about Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ Himself?

172. In order to lessen somewhat her grief by the knowledge of his hidden judgments, the Lord answered : "My Spouse, chosen among all the creatures, I wish thee to understand my just decrees concerning those two souls, for whom thou prayest, and concerning others, who are to enter my Church. These two, who have apostatized from my true faith, might do more harm than good among the other faithful, if they continue their intercourse with them; for they have very depraved habits and have become still more hardened in their evil inclinations. Hence in my infinite knowledge I foresee that they will be reprobates and that it will be better to separate them from the flock of the faithful and cut them off from the mystical body of the Church. Thus they shall be prevented from infecting others by their contagion. It has already become necessary, my beloved One, that, in conformity with my most high Providence, both the predestined and of the foreknown should join my Church : some, who by their sins shall incur damnation, and others, who, through my grace, are to save themselves by good works. My teachings and my Gospel are to be as the net, which gathers in all kinds of fish, good and bad, the wise and the foolish, and the enemy is to sow his cockle among the pure grain of truth (Matth. 13, 28), in order that the just may justify themselves so much the more, and the impure, if so they choose in their malice, may defile themselves still more." (The Venerable Mary of Agreda, The Mystical City of God: Book IV: The Coronation, pp. 176-177.)

The situation in the world at present, which is the result of Original Sin and our own Actual Sins, has been made even worse by the apostasies of the counterfeit church of conciliarism that have made their "reconciliation" with the anti-Incarnational principles of Modernity by endorsing "religious liberty" and rejecting the necessity of restoring the confessionally Catholic civil state--and all of the good that flows organically therefrom for a society--in favor of the "separation of Church and State. So many Catholics today lack the supernatural means to view world and everything that happens in it through the eyes of the true Faith, seeking to judge human events in light of First and Last Things. Catholics, you see, ought to know disasters, whether natural or man made, in the world, are sent to us to chastise us for our sins and that no natural disaster can compare with the disaster that it would be for us if we lost our sins for all eternity by dying in a state of final impenitence.

What do we do? We are to do penance for our sins as we rush unto the sure shelter of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, praying as many Rosaries each day as our state-in-life permits. A bit of penance now--yes, for our sins and those of the whole world as Our Lady pleaded with us in the Grotto of Massabielle in 1858 and in the Cova da Iria near Fatima, Portugal, in 1917, to undertake--embraced with joy and love might help to save a few poor sinners, starting with ourselves if we persevere to our last breath in a state of Sanctifying Grace. We can help to clean up the pollution of sin in the world by cleaning up such pollution in our own sins, availing ourselves of the words of Absolution in the Sacred Tribunal of Penance on a regular basis, if at all possible, and by spending time in prayer before Our Beloved, Christ the King, in His Real Presence in the Most Blessed Sacrament (again, if at all possible in these times of apostasy and betrayal).

The problems of this passing, mortal vale of tears that so discourage and frighten people today will end. They will be replicated for the souls of the damned in Hell, however, as the problems and hatreds and jealousies and injustices of this world are indeed foretastes of eternal hell fires just as the patient embrace of our daily crosses and of forgiving others as we are forgiven so generously by Christ the King the Sacrament of Penance and our fervent sense of recollection and meditation at Holy Mass are indeed foretastes of Heavenly glories. We must not be frightened by the problems of the moment. God is in charge. We have our Blessed Mother and Saint Joseph and our Guardian Angels and patron saints and all of the angels and the saints to intercede for us.

The Immaculate Heart of Mary will triumph in the end!

How about a bit of penance now to prepare ourselves to be fortified for the greater crosses that may come our way before too very long? Why not offer up those penances as best we can as the consecrated slaves of Our Lord through Our Lady's Immaculate Heart for the conversion of our country and its leaders for the true Faith and for the conversion of the leaders of the counterfeit church of conciliarism back to the true Faith as they lead other Catholics by their example of abjuring their errors and renouncing conciliarism once and for all?

Isn't it time to pray a Rosary now?
