Continued Hatred of the Holy Name of Jesus and Contempt for His Most Blessed Mother in Advent and at All Times

by Thomas A. Droleskey

Hatred for the Holy Name of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ emanates from the devil, who seeks to inspire human beings to revile the One Who made possible their own salvation on the wood of the Holy Cross on Good Friday. The devil inspired many of the Jews of Our Lord's own day to mock Him and to lead Him to Pontius Pilate to be done away with by Crucifixion. It is still the case today that devil inspires many of those who ascribe to Talmudic Judaism, which falsely claims to be a continuation of the religion that was superceded when the curtain in the Temple was torn in two on Good Friday, to hate and revile Our Lord and all mention of His Holy Name in public.

What is worse is that so many Catholics, heedless of the simple fact that it was the sins of all men that had transcended time and played an instrumental role in prompting the Jews of Our Lord's day to do the devil's bidding, play the role of collaborators with the Talmudic Jews and their allies in the lodges of Freemasonry by supporting with their own money and time movies and music and magazines and television programming and professional sports teams and so-called amusement parks that mock Our Lord and hold the Blessed Mother in unspeakable contempt. Rather than simply withdraw from the frivolities and profanities of a world that is in the grip of the devil in order to concentrate on praying their daily Rosaries well and getting themselves to the offering of the Immemorial Mass of Tradition on a daily basis, there are even traditional Catholics who become so incensed with those of us who point out the harm of popular culture that they aim their barbs and arrows not at the devil and his minions but at the messengers who are warning them it is wrong and sinful to participate in any aspect of that popular culture. Those of us who write about the evils of American politics, of the utter corruption and degradation of capitalism, of the diabolical nature of "rock" music of any type, including so-called "Christian rock" or "rock for life," of all things, of the harm of motion pictures and television programming, and of the uselessness of "talk" radio and "talking heads" on television are denounced with the must bitter invectives as being possessed of the spirit of Manicheanism and/or Jansenism for having the temerity to challenge popularly held notions that human souls are left unaffected by the political and cultural and economic rot that comes from the devil and is designed to lead them to Hell for all eternity.

Thus, you see, Catholics become more and more passive over time as one outrage after another is committed against Our Lord and Our Lady and the entirety of the Holy Faith. So what if the demons at Comedy Central and its parent company, Music Television (MTV), produce a cartoon show, some entity called South Park, that defames Our Lady in unspeakably horrid ways? Does that mean that I have to give up my cable television or satellite dish programming? So what if a certain percentage of what I pay each month to the cable company or the satellite company goes to subsidize MTV and Home Box Office and Showtime and The Movie Channel and Hugh Hefner's trafficking in filth and indecency? So what? Even some traditional Catholics, sadly, want their Fox News Channel or The Weather Channel or their sports programming so bad that they will look the other way at their own responsibility to have nothing at all to do with subsidizing attacks on Our Lord and Our Lady by once and for all pulling the plug on the demonic sights and sounds that they invite voluntarily into their home and stay there in their immortal souls until and unless they do years and years of penance to rid themselves of the rot. A simple act of throwing out the television and destroying any and all vestiges of "rock" music is considered to be "extreme," "radical," and "unrealistic." There is nothing fundamentally wrong with our culture. We can "pick and choose" from among the poisons out there to determine which of our wanton pleasures is least offensive to God, if we give Him and His honor and glory any thought at all, that is, when we go about the "real" business of life, that is, having "fun" for the sake of having "fun."

In a way, though, the passive reaction of even many traditional Catholics to, if not blithe acceptance of, unspeakable blasphemies being committed against Our Lord and Our Lady is in large measure the result of the passive acceptance of the entire anti-Incarnational ethos of Modernity, founded in the belief that men can conduct their daily lives without regard to the fact of Our Lord's Incarnation in His Most Blessed Mother's virginal and immaculate womb by the power of the Holy Ghost and without subordinating everything they do to the binding precepts of the Divine positive law and the natural law, without keeping uppermost in their mind's eye the honor and glory of the Blessed Trinity and how each one of  their actions looks in light of eternity. The anti-Incarnational basis of Modernity, made possible by the Protestant Revolt and solidified as a result of nefarious influences of Judeo-Masonry, has so seduced even traditional Catholics that it is not uncommon to find violent, almost irrational, revulsion with any and all criticism of the fact that modern States, including the United States of America, must be confessionally Catholic to foster the authentic common good in light of man's Last End rather than revulsion with the fact that the Catholic Faith, the one and only true Faith, is not the foundation of every aspect of our national life.

As I written many times in the past, including two articles in recent weeks (Be Not Excited About Trees, By Way of Amplification; see also Little by Little from August of 2004), television programming in its infancy in the 1950s was "inoffensive" but it was not innocent. The advent of nightly network programming in the late-1940s and early-1950s, a continuation of the nightly radio programming that began in earnest in the early-1930s, mesmerized Americans and started to control their nightly schedules. People began to go bed later in order to watch their favorite programs. Family prayer and conversation ceded ground to the hypnotizing power of the "tabernacle" that was given prominence of place in almost every American living room. Even a few parishes here and there started to re-schedule certain devotional practices in order not to conflict with particularly popular television programs. People "lived" from week to week for their favorite programs. I know. I was one of them as a child, believe me.

Even the content of early television programming, although not blasphemous per se, was nevertheless founded in the ethos of American religious indifferentism. Families "solved" their problems on their own without any denominational guidance whatsoever, no less guidance from the true Faith. Whether it was Father Knows Best or Leave It to Beaver or The Donna Reed Show or My Three Sons or I Love Lucy or countless other programs, including the various anthology stories produced by the Walt Disney Company and televised under various titles (Disneyland, The Wonderful World of Color, The Wonderful World of Disney) people just managed to "reason" their way through life without the help of sanctifying grace. In other words, the heresy of Semi-Pelagianism, which contends that man has enough "grace" within himself to effect his own salvation, was on full display in the 1950s. Most Catholics did not give this a moment's thought. They just wanted a few "belly laughs" before they went to bed for the evening.

It was short step from the seemingly innocuous fare of the 1950s to the "pushing of the envelope" as regarded the New Age movement, replete with its witches and warlocks (Bewitched, featuring the beautiful Elizabeth Montgomery to undo the image of the wicked Margaret Hamilton in The Wizard of Oz), genies (I Dream of Jeannie), ghouls (The Munsters, The Addams Family), and re-incarnation (My Mother the Car). And it was but another short step from there to the out-and-out assaults on the naturalistic "values" of the 1950s-era programs as the odious Norman Lear used All in the Family and Maude, among other shows, to promote his sloganeering agenda of liberalism and relativism. Lear used All in the Family to promote "toleration" of perversity (with actor Philip Carey playing a he-man high school classmate of Archie Bunker's who had come "out of the closet) and Maude to promote abortion. A 1972 made for television motion picture, That Certain Summer, featured Hal Holbrook and Martin Sheen as partners in perversity. Catholics yawned as they nodded in agreement.

By 1987, television began promoting the murder of the elderly under the guise of "mercy killings," featuring Robert "Jim Anderson" and "Marcus Welby" Young as a distraught husband in Mercy or Murder? who shot his wife, played by Frances Reid, who was suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. From what I have read in the past twenty years things have gotten progressively worse with network television featuring characters who are engaged in unrepenant evil on a regular basis. How any Catholic parent at this late date can permit a television in his home is beyond me. The harm of television and motion pictures and contemporary "music" is beyond debate. Even the commercials that are run during news and sports and weather programming on television are scatological. Is it not time for Catholics of all stripes to respond to blasphemy and indecency by simply refusing to waste any time or money on what passes for "entertainment" in our culture of death?

The warfare against the Faith is on display at all times in the "entertainment" world. It is also on display in our politics as our craven political leaders knuckle under to the demands of Talmudic Jews and Mohammedans not to mention the Holy Name of the Divine Redeemer, Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, in public ceremonies. President George W. Bush can celebrate "Ramadan" each year at the White House and light a "Menorah" for Hanukkah. He cannot send out Christmas cards, however. Too offensive to Jews and Mohammedans, obviously. Bush, whose foreign policy is shaped to cater to the State of Israel, even if this means sacrificing needlessly thousands of American lives and wasting billions upon billions of dollars to do so, is far from alone. Almost all politicians generally cringe when the Holy Name of Jesus Christ is mentioned in public, aping, most sadly, the example of those Catholic bishops and priests who do not want to suffer for the sake of the Holy Name of Jesus.

One such instance in which a priest did mention the Holy Name in public recently in a firestorm of contrvoersy.

For instance, the Supervisor of the Town of North Hempstead in Nassau County, Long Island, Jon Kaiman, who is Jewish, went into apoplexy when Father Nick Nick Zientarski, the pastor of Saint Mary's Church in Manhasset, New York, gave a Catholic blessing at the end of a Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Manhasset recently. According to the December 9, 2005, issue of the New York Post, Kaiman took the microphone from Father Zientarski, saying in a harsh and annoyed voice, "I just want to make it clear that this is in no way a religious ceremony . . . "We're here to celebrate the holiday tree lighting. This is not the place for a religious ceremony." Although Kaiman was inundated with e-mails taking him to task for what he said and later apologized to Father Zientarski, the Supervisor's initial reaction displayed quite publicly a nasty little secret that almost no one in this country wants to write about or even discuss: the absolute and total hatred of Talmudic Jews for the Holy Name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in general and complete disgust with the Catholic Faith in particular. It is this hatred that moves many of the major shakers in the worlds of entertainment and high finance and commerce and politics and law and education to seek every opportunity to attack Our Lord, to disparage His Most Blessed Mother, and to paint believing Catholics in the worst possible light. Indeed, one of the supreme ironies in all of this is that the very people who boast of how "tolerant" they are prove themselves to be the most intolerant and bigoted people in the whole world, people who will do and say anything to eradicate the Holy Name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ from the public consciousness.

It is not enough for the devil's minions to be content with attacks upon the Holy Name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and the honor of His Most Blessed Mother, Oh, no. Constant warfare must be waged against the Deposit of Faith Our Lord entrusted to His true Church and upon His rational creatures, human beings who are made in His very image and likeness. State legislatures, exercising the positivism that is the all-logical-consequence of the anti-Incarnational basis of Modernity, are attempting to force Catholic hospitals into dispensing abortifacient pills and devices. Such is the case at present in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Leaving aside for the moment that many Catholic hospitals already do things on a de facto basis that violate God's laws and would protest not a whit if they were forced to do so by the coercive power of the State, the fact that state governments are becoming so bold as to force the hand of the Church in matters of her Received Teaching indicates that the diabolical grip that has been present from the very beginning of a system founded on a rejection of her authority to exercise the Social Reign of Christ the King is reaching the point where even the pretense of the "religious freedom" expressed in the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and ballyhooed in Dignitatis Humanae is being stripped away for all too see as a new Reign of Terror is imposed upon believing Catholics.

Alas, all of these particular instances of hatred for the Holy Name and His Deposit of Faith stem proximately, as noted above, from the diabolical roots of Modernity and the modern State. Men who do not live in a confessionally Catholic State either come to accept offenses against the Holy Faith to be normal and natural or they believe that there is some political or economic way to stem such offenses. A nation founded in the ethos of religious indifferentism and founded in the belief that men can pursue "civic virtue" without belief in, access to and cooperation with sanctifying grace founders on the shoals of its own false moorings over the course of time. We do not need "apologies" from the perpetrators of evil. We do not need high-strung histrionics from alleged defenders of the "religious and civil rights" who refuse to fact the simple fact that it is the ethos of the Second Vatican Council, which has made its accommodations with the spirit of Modernity, as then Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger noted in his 1982 book The Principles of Catholic Theology, that has helped to fuel Catholic acceptance of and/or apathy to offenses against Our Lord and Our Lady.

We need the Vicar of Christ and the Successors of the Apostles to denounce Modernity in the world and Modernism in the Church and name the enemies of the Faith for who they are, demanding that Catholics act in true charity for the eternal good of the enemies of the Faith by praying and making many sacrifices to the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary for their conversion to the Catholic Church. As go the shepherds so go the sheep. Once again, you see, it is the Second Vatican Council's "reconciliation" with the spirit of the world that has reinforced Catholics in an uncritical acceptance of things that are offensive to God and inimical to the good of souls. After all, how can Catholics fight the forces of evil in the world when the spirit of the world is enshrined in the synthetic liturgy that is considered "normative" today, the Novus Ordo Missae? How can even traditional Catholics be forced to consider reforming their own participation in an evil culture when many of their priests do not even consider it important enough to challenge them in this regard for fear of sounding too harsh or judgmental?

Pope Pius XI wrote about the Christian education of youth in Divini Illius Magistri in 1929. What he wrote in that encyclical letter, however, applies to all Catholics regardless of their age:

It is no less necessary to direct and watch the education of the adolescent, "soft as wax to be moulded into vice,"[58] in whatever other environment he may happen to be, removing occasions of evil and providing occasions for good in his recreations and social intercourse; for "evil communications corrupt good manners."

More than ever nowadays an extended and careful vigilance is necessary, inasmuch as the dangers of moral and religious shipwreck are greater for inexperienced youth. Especially is this true of impious and immoral books, often diabolically circulated at low prices; of the cinema, which multiplies every kind of exhibition; and now also of the radio, which facilitates every kind of communications. These most powerful means of publicity, which can be of great utility for instruction and education when directed by sound principles, are only too often used as an incentive to evil passions and greed for gain. St. Augustine deplored the passion for the shows of the circus which possessed even some Christians of his time, and he dramatically narrates the infatuation for them, fortunately only temporary, of his disciple and friend Alipius. How often today must parents and educators bewail the corruption of youth brought about by the modern theater and the vile book!

The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe is tomorrow, December 12. She is the Patroness of the Americas and of the Unborn. Our Lady left the miraculous image of herself on the tilma of Saint Juan Diego in 1531 to show herself to the Blessed Mother of the people of the Americas. That miraculous image of Our Lady of Guadalupe brought about the miraculous conversion of over nine million indigenous people in the Americas to the true Faith, almost person for person the number of people lost to the Faith in Europe as a result of the Protestant Revolt. Our Lady desires the conversion of each of the countries of the Americas, including the United States of America, to the Catholic Church. She wants every aspect of our popular culture, which is supposed to produce true joy founded in the love of her Divine Son, to remind us of our First Cause and our Last End. She wants us never to be heedless of the honor and glory of God. She wants us to live and to work and play at all times in the shadow of the Holy Cross.

As miraculous a transformation awaits the entire world if only Pope Benedict XVI would consecrate Russia to Our Lady's Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart with all of the world's bishops. A certain period of peace would be granted the world before the devil's final battle commences and Our Lord returns in glory at the moment of the General Judgment of the Living and the Dead on the Last Day. The fulfillment of Our Lady's Fatima Message will bring about a world where all Catholics, freed from the errors of Russia that are to be found in the spirit of Modernity in the world and Modernism in the Church, will have the following sensus fidei as expressed by the late Father Vincent P. Miceli in Rendezvous with God:

Christ has taught us, "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His Justice, and all these things will be added unto you." "What shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?" "No one can serve two masters." "It is better for thee with one eye to enter into the kingdom of heaven, than, having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire." The meaning is clear. God must be the first desired, the first sought, the first served. Toward all other creatures man must adopt an attitude of liberty of heart. Although he loves them, he will only use them in so far as they help him to attain His God. Should they hinder him from this end, man will restrain himself from their use, remembering always the wise words of St. Paul: "For the rest, brethren whatsoever things are true, whatsoever modest, whatsoever just, whatsoever holy, whatsoever lovely, whatsoever of good fame, if there be any virtue, if any praise of discipline, think on these things." (Phil. 4: 8)

The active spirit of detachment and indifference frees man's love from bondage to the creature because his love goes first to God and the eternal; and in attachment to God man finds freedom from the world; in adherence to God man enjoys deliverance from the yoke of creatures. Instead of becoming bad masters, creatures become for men good servants in the hands of rightful love. When a man habitually suspends the choice of his will in choosing creatures until he sees which choice is better for his advancement to God, he practices that evangelical love of creatures which is a love of the visible based on a love of the invisible; a love of things created, straining past things to the Creator; a temporal love proclaiming the eternal love. This is the love and use of creatures which Our Blessed Lord expressed when He said: "My meat is to do the will of Him who sent Me."

There will be natural attractions and repulsions in our relations to creatures. These are involuntary, the instinctive dislikes and likes of our nature. True liberty of heart and indifference toward creatures is quite consistent with those indeliberate movements of the will. For indifference is not apathy, nor does it lead to a leaden nature. Our blessed Lord prostrate in an agony of fear and sorrow could yet pray and make the following heroic choice: "Father, if it is possible, let this chalice pass. Yet no My will, but thine be done." Here is the perfect spirit of indifference and liberty of heart from all creatures, that self-poise and equilibrium of the will which is ready to choose all that is mot repugnant naturally--even a most cruel death--if such be the will of God.

Sometimes creatures are dangers and obstacles on the path to God, and they have to be sacrificed. Cut off thy hand, pluck out thine eye, if so it must be to enter into life! Sometimes creatures help us to rejoin God. That is why St. Ignatius advises indifference to all creatures. He writes: "For which purpose (to attain our eternal destiny) it is necessary to make ourselves indifferent to all created things, in all that is allowed to the freedom of our free choice and is not forbidden it; in such sort that we do not desire on our part health rather than sickness, riches rather than poverty, honor rather than dishonor, a long life rather than a short one, and so of all the rest, only desiring and choosing that better leads us to the end for which we are created."

The true Christian loves creatures because he loves God whom they reflect. Yet as a clear-sighted and decided man he knows that because of sin all creatures stand in need of purification. He knows too that in Christ and through Christ all things are capable of being purified. He recognizes that the universe has but one principle of consistence, of movement, of fulfillment, and that principle is Christ. For "in Him were all things created in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible. . . . all things were created by Him and in Him, and He is before all, and by Him all things consist." (Col: 1:16-18)

Christ is thus the great Assembler who works in the depths of souls and in the depths of creatures to sanctify all, to unify all, to consecrate all to the glory of God. To this gigantic work the true Christian freely pledges himself--at this place, in this hour and with all his resources. Remember, you do not work alone; you collaborate.

Yes, the miracle of conversion that will take place following the perfect fulfillment of Our Lady's Fatima Message will bring about an era when all men will view the world through the eyes of the true Faith and seek to love Our Lord as He has revealed Himself through His true Church, offering all of his prayers and sacrifices to Him through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of His Most Blessed Mother. The hatred of His Holy Name and the contempt for His Most Blessed Mother that is commonplace know will be swept away. People will think with the mind of Christ and will rely upon Our Lady to see Him in all of His glory with the Father and the Holy Ghost in an unending Easter Sunday of glory in Paradise. To this end we, who are frequently the enemies of Our Lord by means of our sins, must use the remaining days of Advent to seek ever more to root out sin and disordered attachments to the things of this world so that we will be ever more ready to face the moment of our Particular Judgments and thus be participants of the eternal bliss of gazing upon the glory of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost for all eternity.
