Aborting Reality

by Thomas A. Droleskey

As we witness mere vessels clay, none of whom created themselves and each of whose body is destined one day for the corruption of the grave until the General Resurrection and Judgment of the Living and the Dead on the Last Day, attempting to create "alternative universes" by the sheer force of their own will, perhaps it is useful yet again to repeat a few points about positivism--the mere gratuitous assertion that something is true because it has been asserted as being true--and its impact upon our daily lives. Indeed, positivism, at least in one form or another, is the basis of almost the entirety of so-called popular culture today.

Here, however, is perhaps an easier way to define positivism: lying with a straight face. How's that? Here's another definition: aborting reality.

There are many sub-categories of positivists

There are, for instance, legal positivists, those who contend that the enactment of a piece of civil legislation or the rendering of a judicial decision by a court is the sole basis for judging the morality of human actions. Indeed, legal positivism was the basis of the defense of those tried as war criminals in Nuremberg, Germany, following the end of World War II. The judges and doctors and military officers of the Third Reich were acting in perfect accord with decrees that had been issued under the emergency powers provision of the Weimar Constitution. Who were the representatives of any outside power to judge that those decrees were immoral and unjust?

Legal positivism was practiced in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. It is practiced in the so-called "People's Republic of China" and other nations that are still formally under Communist control (Vietnam, North Korea, Cuba, Laos, Nepal, and Moldova). It is even the basis of most instruction offered to students in law schools right here in the United States of America.

To wit, admitting that there are a few exceptions with this or that judicial decision, legal positivism is the basis of most constitutional and administrative case-law in the United States of America and elsewhere. Indeed, Associate Justice Antonin Scalia admitted this fact in addresses he gave in Rome and at Thomas Aquinas College in 1996 (also in the City of New York at a Communion Breakfast in 1997), stating that he even though he might believe in the Natural Law (those absolute, immutable moral laws that exist in the nature of things and are knowable by reason alone unaided by the light of Divine Revelation) he is duty-bound as an American judge to view the constitutionality of legislation solely on the basis of the words of the Constitution of the United States of America. He said that abortion, which he contended is neither prohibited or permitted by the words of the Constitution (something that is most arguable), is a matter that is solely within the province of state legislatures, which have the authority to pass legislation either permitting or prohibiting abortion. This is wrong. No human institution has any authority to pass legislation that contravenes the binding precepts of the Divine positive law and the natural law. However, this is what Scalia and most other so-called "conservative" jurists believe.

There is also scientific positivism. The gratuitous assertions that the earth is "billions upon billions of years old" and that random molecules evolved into man are accepted as "facts" beyond contention. The same sort of assertions have been made in recent years with respect to "global warming," assertions that even the "mainstream" media have come to recognize now are totally bogus. (See Collapsing Before Our Very Eyes.)

The same of true of the assertions that it is "necessary" to kill embryonic human beings in order to harvest their stem cells so as to "cure" various diseases. This positivist lie flies in the face of the truth that it is never "necessary," no less moral, to kill an innocent human being and that adult stem cells offer more promise for the treatment of various afflictions than the immoral harvest of embryonic stem cells. There are so many examples of positivism from bogus science masquerading as true science (which can never conflict with the Faith) as to provide enough fodder for several volumes of books.

Corporate positivism is a multinational art form. Corporations invent their own "alternative universes" into which their victims, that is, customers, must submit. Anyone who dares to challenge a billing mistake must be "talked down" by a customer-service representative, a person who is trained to never once admit that the corporation that employs him can ever be wrong about anything. Thus it is that corporations require employees to take "sensitivity-training" programs so as to to accept corporate decisions to embrace all manner of evils as culturally acceptable and beyond criticism. Employees who dissent will be fired summarily in many instances.

Protestantism, of course, is founded in the theological positivism of Martin Luther and John Calvin and Thomas Cranmer and John Wesley and John Knox an Ulrich Zwingli and countless others. The theological positivism and relativism of Protestantism lead directly to triumph of the moral, political, and social positivism that has been advanced by the multifaceted agents of Judeo-Masonry. Pope Leo XIII, writing in Immortale Dei, November 1, 1885, noted this relationship:

But that harmful and deplorable passion for innovation which was aroused in the sixteenth century threw first of all into confusion the Christian religion, and next, by natural sequence, invaded the precincts of philosophy, whence it spread amongst all classes of society. From this source, as from a fountain-head, burst forth all those later tenets of unbridled license which, in the midst of the terrible upheavals of the last century, were wildly conceived and boldly proclaimed as the principles and foundation of that new conception of law which was not merely previously unknown, but was at variance on many points with not only the Christian, but even the natural law.

Political positivism? Puuuuhhhhhllllllease! We've had it from the very beginning of Modernity. (See Not A Mention of Christ the King.) We need look only to the past two presidents of the United States of America, George Walker Bush, and his successor, Barack Hussein Obama, for examples of this. Bush the Lesser told aboard the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln on May 1, 2003, that Iraq had been "liberated." It's been quite a "liberation" for people of Iraq, especially for Eastern-rite Catholics. And Obama? He's using his positivism at this time to reinvent ObamaCare (see Remember the Great Society?).

A classic example of political positivism was given us by the longtime Governor of the State of New York, Nelson Aldrich Rockefeller, who served between January 1, 1959, and December 18, 1973, when he promised in August of 1969 that he would make the state-run Long Island Rail Ronald "the finest commuter railroad in the world within sixty day. Rockefeller cracked a smile as he looked at reporters through his granny glasses. Even seasoned, cynical reporters laughed out loud at Rockefeller's audacious assertion that he had accomplished his goal. Rockefeller was creating his own alternative reality that did not conform to the experience of those who rode the Long Island Rail Road on a daily basis. This is what Rockefeller stated on October 11, 1969:

'On this day, we have, officially, become the finest commuter railroad in the country.'' (Commuting in Misery: The Long Island Rail Road--Busiest, but Far from the Best.)

Ecclesiastical positivism is practiced to a fare-thee-well by the lords of the counterfeit church of conciliarism to justify their immersion in Modernism. Karol Wojtyla/John Paul II spoke incessantly of the "springtime of the Church," something that prompted me to note in a Communion breakfast talk in the City of New York on Low Sunday, April 19, 1998, "If this is the 'springtime of the Church, I'd hate to see what winter looks like." Similarly, Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI keeps telling us that false ecumenism has brought us so many good fruits (see Still Nothing New Under the Conciliar Sun and Madness Writ Large) and that the "liturgical renewal" represented by the Protestant and Masonic Novus Ordo service has "enriched" the life of what he believes to be the Catholic Church.

This ecclesiastical positivism, which was touched upon yesterday in Not The Work of God, has been at work in how the conciliar thugs have cover-up the scandals caused by the moral misconduct of their priests/presbyters and have sought to harass and intimidate victims and their families, seeking always to minimize the extent of the crimes and demonstrating a near-universal conviction that perverse sins against the Sixth and Ninth Commandment do not cry out to Heaven for vengeance. All that the thug "bishops" of the conciliar structures have done is to express a little "tsk, task" now and again as they have been forced to pay out over $2 billion in compensation to the victims.

This ecclesiastical positivism, which is being used to cover-up for the fact that men with perverse inclinations have been recruited into the conciliar presbyterate and have protected each other after insinuating themselves into all of its nooks and crannies, was on display recently as the conciliar "bishops" of Ireland met in the Vatican with Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI concerning the report issued by the Commission of Investigation headed by Circuit Court Judge Yvonne Murphy that documented the way in which the Irish "bishops" had protected the miscreants, going so far as to send around one hundred of them to serve right here in the United States of America. Those who seek to minimize the sin of Sodom and/or who abuse their clerical authority to intimidate the sheep as they refuse to listen to their complaints except when forced to do so by lawsuits or adverse publicity in the media under the following condemnation offered by the Prophet Ezechiel:

Thus saith the Lord God: Woe to the shepherds of Israel, that fed themselves: should not the flocks be fed by the shepherds? The weak you have not strengthened, and that which was sick you have not healed, that which was broken you have not bound up, and that which was driven away you have not brought again, neither have you sought that which was lost: but you ruled over them with rigor and with a high hand. (Ezechiel 34: 2: 4.)

We have no reason to despair in these troubling times. No, despair is of the devil, the ultimate positivist who has fomented confusion in the minds of so many Catholics and non-Catholics alike in this time of apostasy and betrayal. The positivists in the world and in the ranks of conciliarism will continue to make their gratuitous assertions as true. We, however, must scoff at these assertions and to beam with the confident assurance that Our Lady will vanquish the current hold that civil and legal and political and social and ecclesiastical and scientific and theological positivism have over so many hundreds of millions of people today. Our Lady will have the Triumph of her Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart, and that triumph will indeed be glorious beyond all telling. We must be earnest in our own efforts to reject all forms of positivism, including conciliarism, and to keep the authentic Catholic Faith alive in our own homes as we strive to do penance for our own sins and those of the whole world as the consecrated slaves of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ through Our Lady's Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart.

We must remember that there have been times in the past when Catholics have been forced into the catacombs to assist at Holy Mass. This was the case for most of the first three centuries of the Church's life in various parts of the Roman Empire, especially between 67 A.D. the issuance of the Edict of Milan by Emperor Constantine in the year 313 A.D. Over thirteen million Catholics were killed in those years under the cover of the civil law by the brute force of the civil state. Saint Athanasius was forced into exile five times--and his people followed him to where he offered Holy Mass. The likes of Blessed Edmund Campion, S.J., offered Holy Mass in homes and other hiding places as he darted about the English countryside in various disguises, forfeiting their very lives in the process.

Why do we live in such fear? Why? Fear is of the devil. We must be grateful for having access to the true Sacraments in this time of apostasy as Our Lady guides us to good shepherds, men who care not for their own privileges and who are not hypersensitive to criticism and public scrutiny, men who are concerned only about defending the truth without compromise as they take courageous measures to care for their sheep in order to help us get home to Heaven. No one of us should live in fear of the consequences of defending the Faith as we seek out the Sacraments from true bishops and true priests who make no concessions to the false religion of conciliarism. Our Lord gave Catholics in the catacombs long ago access to the Sacraments in times past as He tested their fidelity and love for Him by seeing if they would take the risks to avail themselves of those Sacraments. It is no different today.

None of us have any need to live in fear. Not a single one of us. Remember, Saint Athanasius fought his opponents openly without fear of their slanders. Blessed Edmund Campion knew that his own priestly ministry was on "borrowed time" from the beginning, which is why he wrote what is called "Campion's Brag." (A Champion for All Ages.) He knew that he would be excoriated openly by his own countrymen. Did this deter him from serving souls and defending the truth? Not at all. Was Saint Josaphat concerned about the opposition that he engendered from the Orthodox in the Seventeenth Century? Was Saint Fidelis of Sigmaringen scared of the Calvinists at that same time on the other side of Europe? No. Not at all. Why should we be afraid of the lords of Modernism or those of Modernity? Why?

This is the time that God has known from all eternity we would be alive. These are the circumstances that God has known from all eternity would occur. To be afraid in the midst of our current circumstances is to surrender to the wiles of the devil, who wants us to hole up in our homes as we "try to figure out" what is going on now. Guess what? None of us is God. He has willed us to be alive now, right now, at this very moment. The graces that Our Lord won for us on the wood of the Holy Cross and that flow into our hearts and souls through the loving hands of Our Lady, she who is the Mediatrix of All Graces, are sufficient for us to weather the storms of the moment. It is not up to us to try figure out how the Church Militant on earth will be restored. It is enough for us to seek to sanctify our souls at the hands of those good shepherds who spend themselves for the sheep rather than expecting the sheep to cower in fright of them, fearing that they, the sheep, are but one slip on a banana peel (one mistake) away from being driven away from the Sacraments or banished as "useless idiots."

Our Lord does not want us living in fear of the world. Our Lord does not want us living in fear of Modernists. And Our Lord does not want us living in fear of the arbitrariness of shepherds who, believing that the priesthood has been made for them and their prerogatives, can cast us out at a moment's notice as they see fit. Our Lord wants us to trust Him in these troubling times as we remember always these words that Our Lady spoke to Juan Diego in 1531:

“Know and understand well, you the most humble of my son, that I am the ever virgin Holy Mary, Mother of the True God for whom we live, of the Creator of all things, Lord of heaven and the earth. I wish that a temple be erected here quickly, so I may therein exhibit and give all my love, compassion, help, and protection, because I am your merciful mother, to you, and to all the inhabitants on this land and all the rest who love me, invoke and confide in me; listen there to their lamentations, and remedy all their miseries, afflictions and sorrows. And to accomplish what my clemency pretends, go to the palace of the bishop of Mexico, and you will say to him that I manifest my great desire, that here on this plain a temple be built to me; you will accurately relate all you have seen and admired, and what you have heard. Be assured that I will be most grateful and will reward you, because I will make you happy and worthy of recompense for the effort and fatigue in what you will obtain of what I have entrusted. Behold, you have heard my mandate, my humble son; go and put forth all your effort.” (Our Lady Of Guadalupe | Relation of the Apparitions, December 9, 1531)

Hear me and understand well, my son the least, that nothing should frighten or grieve you. Let not your heart be disturbed. Do not fear that sickness, nor any other sickness or anguish. Am I not here, who is your Mother? Are you not under my protection? Am I not your health? Are you not happily within my fold? What else do you wish? Do not grieve nor be disturbed by anything. Do not be afflicted by the illness of your uncle, who will not die now of it. be assured that he is now cured." (Our Lady Of Guadalupe | Relation of the Apparitions, December 12, 1531)

"Do not grieve or be disturbed by anything?" Do you know better than the Mother of God? We must live in peace as we reject the lies of the chief positivist, the devil, as we entrust our souls to those shepherds who care only about getting us back home to Heaven as they teach us the Catholic Faith of our fathers without any change or diminution whatsoever.

What to do if you are disturbed or grieved? Fly unto the patronage of the Mother God. Pray as many Rosaries each day as your state-in-life permits. And perhaps it might be a salutary thing to pray the August Queen of Heaven Prayer morning and night each day of our lives:

August Queen of Heaven, Sovereign Mistress of the Angels, thou who from the beginning hast received from God the power and the mission to crush the head of Satan, we humbly implore thee to send thy Holy Legions, so that under thy command and by thy power they may drive the devils away, everywhere fight them, subduing their boldness, and thrust them down into the abyss. Who is like unto God. O good and tender Mother, thou willst always be our love and our hope. O Divine Mother send they Holy Angels to defend me and to drive far away from me the cruel enemy. Holy Angels and Archangels, defend and keep us. Amen.

We must always recognize the fact that the chief positivist, that is, the devil, wants to distract us from recognizing that we have a heavenly cloud of witnesses who stand ready to help us. Many of these witnesses suffered untold humiliations and human losses for remaining faithful to the Faith of our fathers in their own day. We must never lose sight of the fact that we are never alone in the battle to maintain the Catholic Faith. We simply have to persevere until the end as we make reparation for our own many sins that have indeed worsened the state of the world and the state of the Church Militant on earth far, far more than we realize.

No matter how many people hate us or calumniate us, no matter how many people refuse us their friendship or how many family members think themselves superior to us because they are not "schismatic" as we are, we must always take refuge in the simple Catholic truth that we have helpers at the ready who want to console us and to encourage us as with lift high the Cross of the Divine Redeemer in our own lives as they did in theirs, making the Holy Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ the standard of our own victory as it was the standard of theirs.

Although I have oft-quoted the following exhortation given to us by Pope Pius XI in Quas Primas, December 11, 1925, it is worth repeating once again as we redouble our efforts this Lent to die to self so that we can fight the good fight of the Catholic Faith as the totally consecrated slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary until the very point of our deaths:

We may well admire in this the admirable wisdom of the Providence of God, who, ever bringing good out of evil, has from time to time suffered the faith and piety of men to grow weak, and allowed Catholic truth to be attacked by false doctrines, but always with the result that truth has afterwards shone out with greater splendor, and that men's faith, aroused from its lethargy, has shown itself more vigorous than before.
